    Good day:

    "A" declares medikit (range) and dodge.
    "B" ARO -> combirifle

    How does it work? both roll dice?

    Many thanks

    "A" cannot declare this combination of skills =)

    As you can see, these are the only combinations of skill types allowed in an order. Both Medikit (ranged) and Dodge are Short Skills, that means you cannot declare them in one order, as you suggest in your example.

    Otherwise - yes, you are correct. If "A" declared Medikit + Short Movement Skill (for example Move), or Dodge + Move, and "B" kept their ARO as BS Attack (Shoot w/ Combi Rifle), then both players would roll. The type of roll, however, would depend on "A"'s declared Short Skill.

    From pages 28 and 30 of the rules:
    "Infinity CodeOne’s game mechanics revolve around two types of d20 rolls: Normal Rolls and Face to Face Rolls"

    ...
    "Normal Rolls are the most common, basic dice rolls in Infinity. This roll is used when a Trooper is not facing off against an enemy, but instead must check if they successfully use an uncontested or passively contested Skill (such as trying to Discover a camouflaged enemy or healing an ally by means of the Doctor Special Skill)."

    In case "A" declares Medikit - both players would roll a Normal roll, because "A" is not trying to affect "B", but rather is trying to heal a downed comrade. Basically, "A" is not targeting "B" with their roll --> both players make Normal Rolls.

    ...
    "When two or more Troopers act at the same time to try to thwart each other’s progress, Face to Face Rolls are used to determine which side acts faster and more effectively. "

    In case "A" declares Dodge - then it would become a Face-to-Face Roll. "B" is trying to affect "A" with their ARO - they're trying to put "A" into Unconscious (or Dead, if they're lucky) State. "A", on the other hand, is trying to prevent "B"'s action, by Dodging to cancel the rifle shot. Both troopers are targeting each other with their actions (well, "A" doesn't, but Dodge specifies, that it can be used as a FtF roll to block enemy attacks), thus they roll Face to Face.

    I appreciate the detailed answer. We didn't understand the correct interaction of short skills. Thanks to your explanation we are now clear.

    Many thanks

    I would also point out that most people would disagree with the wording, "Normal rolls are the most common...". I find F2F rolls to be far more common in games, so don't be surprised if that happens to be the case. This does, however, depend on the tactics used in a game. Are you spending a bunch of orders to get behind an enemy and shoot with normal rolls, or are you going to just use your weight of dice in a couple orders to try and win the F2F?
