You would think they would get more since last years box set. Alas, they probably won't until they join Nomads or PanO. Or taken advantage of the lighter weight of the siocast. I know it's much lighter, but have you seen some of the cool poses MCP has done?! It's amazing. I'm sure CB could have done something more interesting.
Yeah, no, I'll skip on the MCP poses. Siocast is fragile, I don't need a TAG, balancing on the tip of its sword. The pose works well with the rest of the new Bakunin models imho.
From the last releases there are a lot of "meh" poses. I understand, that poses are limited but in some case I just wondered, why they bring out some very boring or flat poses. From my memory thats are: Roadbot - dynamic artwork, boring standing pose Morans - good minis, but they look like Alguaciles from a distance, no capes (and old koalas) Carlota Kowalsky - Look I have here a gun and in my other hand a gizmothing, the old one has charisma, walking with gun up the shoulder and helmet in hand ... and Moriarty? Just a Zondcat without 0 special. Acom and Machon. While Acom keeps his old pose (what is fine in my opinion) he puts his visor down, what is uncool; Machon choose to display sword and gun. The old has a more quite pose, but definitly says more "character" to me. They look rushed.
So, even though MO got a redesign in 2021 and neither Varuna nor NCA did, CB apparently does not have a new Tikbalang planned – but a new Squalo instead. Source
I was waiting for someone to notice this. Isn't this a good thing? NCA is getting a refreshed model that was in need. The Squalo is a good profile.
But why is the Squalo in need of a new model? The old one seems perfectly valid to me. He's from the era of 3D-sculpted models, has the correct size, fitting design, and correct loadout. Why would it need an update?
It could be amazing if they used their common sense to reduce skus and made it a plastic multipart kit that covers off tik/squalo/uhlan. That way everyone could buy it, use it and they'd reduce 3 sku into one
Totally agree... this is an idea that I have been defending since the beginning of N3. Squalo/Dragao/Jotum could share the same multicomponent TAG (S7... same chassis). Their stats don't differ too much... MULTI HMG arm for Squalo/Jotum, HRMC rack for Dragao, Granade Launcher addon for Squalo and Armor Plates for the Jotum. They are really the same TAG with different weapon options (and some armor plates for the Jotum)
Plastic would be cool but I don't think they yet have the ability to do that. Molds for PIM is expensive and might even need to be made overseas.
I mean... I guess so... but I don't recall the last time I saw a Squalo commanding triple digits on second hand sites... or being rare and desired enough to justify it (not that it justifies such ridiculous pricinng in a game that allows proxying, just shows how desired the model/profile was).
Common sense finally! I have seen a single Tik sold on auction for about 150 bucks. I have seen Neoterran Bolts and NCA starter packs going for over 250 bucks EACH! A single Bagh Mari over 50 bucks. But yeah… I guess (or hope?) CB knows what they’re doing…
why release figures for an OoP sectorial, only for lowering 2 hand market prices? Blame scalpers, not CB
What? 1. Those prices were reached on auctions. There’s no scalper here, only people willing to have these miniatures of totally playable and competitive sectorials, SAA on top. 2. What does OOP sectorial means to you? What you say doesn’t make sense. It’s CB decision only to put SAA and NCA OOP. What matters is demand, the demand is what should drive a sectorial being OOP or not. And when one sees the insane prices at which people are ready to buy NCA and SAA models, there’s enough justification to challenge the fact they wouldn’t sell well. Reason why I’m saying that “I hope they know what they’re doing”
There's a few of users here who will jump every mental hoop possible to defend CB. You can tell them by how their main activity on the forum is upvoting one another's rare posts, when they come out of the woodwork to white knight for the company. The amount of copium is just sad.
If at least it was done diligently. One may assume they (CB) know what they’re doing, and carefully projected Revenue lost / Cost won by turning certain Sectorials OOP. Things can’t be analysed in a vacuum (like everywhere, certain products are sold at a loss because they help in the grand-scheme of things - such as having diversified enough rosters, or else they would only sell the most popular models, which, by lack of choice, would hurt the game in the long run), but this is valid for switching off a production line, not for keeping one. The thing is, I can’t really wrap my head around the fact they decide to kill certain models (which didn’t need a resculpt - speaking mainly about the Bolts, Tik, Ulhan, Bagh Mari), that I think, would still sell well. So one may argue “too many PanO, too many SKUs” To which I’ll say: I’m wondering if it wouldn’t have been better to not release WinterFor at all, while keeping at least NCA. If you ask me, I’d keep NCA / SAA over Winterfor any day (even if I love their sculpts, Kahru and Nokken are absolutely gorgeous). NCA for the gorgeousness of their lineup, SAA because it plays well. It certainly plays much better than Winterfor, and provides quite a different take on PanO (which NCA does less, I feel they play quite similarly to Varuna) If I could chose, if we had to keep 3 sectorials, I think PanO would be way nicer to play while having: - NCA - SAA - MO Than having the sectorials that are currently supported. But it’s a personal preference. Happy to be challenged there
@anubis; I know that they’re a pain to transport/paint but I still do love my old Konstantinos and Seraph, despite them bending/coming apart when I look at them wrong. The perpetual issue of dynamism and transportability could probably be its own thread… Yes. Very much confused here as it’s a relatively modern sculpt and it’s quite nice. It’s also easily converted to different poses with a small amount of work. I hope the new one isn’t too far away from what the current Squalo looks like. I may buy it to sate my need to “have them all” but it’s an odd release to be sure. The Squalo can fit in to Vanilla and Varuna as well as Neoterra so it has applications. It’s a strange release though. It’s not like the Squalo was begging for a resculpt. Can confirm. My friend paid through the nose to have the most recent acontecimento minis that were discontinued. I too have paid prices that were high because, well, I want my toys. Agreed. Some great sculpts here in Svalarheima but I do play NCA more than Winterfor. I will take the news of a new Squalo as hope that there will be interesting new releases for PanO in time. *crosses fingers and prays to any deity listening for new Neoterra and Acontecimento minis*. I know, I know. I’m praying for something that’s about as likely to happen as rain to fall upwards. I can dream though.
