new Rasyat is next to Zerats on the right. all of them up close here, though beware, they look quite hideous.

from new models only the auto-cannon kurgat is missing, and from the entire catalog I'm missing Oznat and spitfire rasyat blisters. I'm not a fan of old models, and Oznat I find a bit fiddly to assemble with her thin neck, so most likely won't bother getting them. I think I will be getting the AC Kurgat when I'm gonna make another order, which, most likely won't be in the nearest future, as I want to go at least halfway through my assembling/painting backlog

Not as bad as other backlogs I've seen. I also see that you are building an MO force besides Onyx which is something I currently working on myself.

Yeah, at some point I was really close to jumping ships to OCF, so I was building force in the background, also since they share several units between MAF. But the Third Offensive updates kinda revitalized everything and I'm fresh again. And I always wanted to start playing WH40K, but lost interest when saw the gameplay and realized how much stuff I'd have to get and assemble/paint, so I guess MO scratches my "dudes in power armor in space" itch :D

Will you finish an Onyx force in the future?

With MO being updated now does seem to be a good time to jump on board. What is interesting is that the Morat playstyle is more closer to Space Marines from 40k. The Morat's avoiding Loss of Lt. is similar to how Marines don't buckle under the odds in both gameplay and lore.

If you wanted to at least enjoy some of the 40k models go right ahead and grab some if possible. For me it is hobby first and gameplay second as I truly don't have anyone to play with where I currently live nor the time to drive to areas that do hold players of different game systems. One interesting idea I do is use 40k or other bits to convert my Infinity minis. These are mostly done with head replacements but you can do arms, torso, legs or simply weapon swap to make your force unique. Human sectorials/factions are easier to accomplish this due to the abundance of Human bits &/or factions from other game systems. Combined & Tohaa are a bit tricky but you can still find some parts/kits out there that would fit wether fantasy or sci-fi. Tohaa and Eldar/Elves have a good number of similarities that make converting reasonable.

Mates, I think the time for being upset is reasonably come and gone. I am not satisfied with what we got, but it is what it is and we make do with it.

By this point, complaining will only make us look like whiners, and frankly we've all found ways to use the buffs even if some of us were unsatisfied if not downright angry. It's better to move on and try to get a positive outlook on what we have.

So, it's been a few months, how are people doing?

Me, I've certainly been enjoying the rodok haris and suryat upgrades in Onyx.

Played with MAF last week with a Yaogat haris, Soggy (FAL2) + raktorak shotgun duo and a daturatzi + raktorak red fury core, (and a kurgat who served no purpose and put me in two groups), game was a bit of a crit fest in both directions but aside from that generally everything funtioned as expected:
    • Raktoraks were the power of the list, the red fury mostly dominated shooting matches from the datz link and managed to survive as datatracker and get to the central zone (we were playing frostbyte), the other one managed a hail mary vulcan template which took out two or three guys of a druze/brawler link.
    • FAL2 soggy did a little work but was relatively unlucky, managing to moderately annoy a peacemaker with a feurbach before being bricked by a Druze EM LGL (still provides an order of course but that was his game).
    • Yaogats were solid as a harris with the LT which the soggy could use to advance via the Raktorak NCO, didn't get that much use out of it as all the yaogats were victims of the critfest (other than the LT who after killing my opponents datatracker scarface with a double crit panzerfaust from smoke then fell prey to an unfortunate heavy shotgun template reaction later in the turn).
Overall as expected, link teams were essential to efficiency and competitive fire power, raktoraks are intrinsic to the use of fireteams to give fire power boosts to some (datz) or cost reductions to others.

Overall the changes are great, yeah, some of the profiles could use some love (Zerats), but oh well.

I just love Suryat TA, Raktorak NCO, Anyat and two vanguard fillers. This core is awesome. Last two spots can be adjusted to your liking, e.g. another Raktorak w/ red fury. It's basically my go-to core now, as it's really versatile and spearhead is a 2W dude with good weapon.

Sogarat, while awesome, still can't justify dropping almost 70pts on him.
    Daturazis with Raktoraks are awesome.

I've been playing MAF in the Paradiso campaign that one of my group started running earlier in the year. I've run Daturazi links in every game so far, usually with a Raktorak for some shooting ability. It's been a blast, once a few of the Daturazi make it to the opponent's side, chaos usually ensues whilst a couple of specialists clean up in the midfied.

I played an ITS tourney with them already, and will play an escalation league with them this sunday too. Scored 2nd place on the ITS with two major victories and one loss where I still dominated the match for 3 turns but lost because my oponent played for points better than I did (They only earned a minor victory).

I don't like the FA2 Sogarat. At all. I have absolutely no reason to use him unless I want to cripple my own list. Most of the time I just upgrade to a Shotty Raicho, who is faster, hits just as hard, and carries a specialist.

However, I love Raktorak wildcards. I've used one or two of them in every list so far and they seldom disappoint. The red fury works great paired with hungries or daturazi, and the flamethrower or shotgun work well with any other link. Hell, I've even used the NCO profile once or twice and it worked!

The TA suryat is pretty cool too, especially combined with Kornak in a haris. I actually ran Kornak+TA Suryat+Rocket Suryat in a link and it kicked ass.

I have been having a lot of fun with MAF. I do like the FA2 Sogarat and it has done some great work for me on kill missions but I don't take him in missions where I need to get stuff done. The Raktorak is an all-star and goes in every core FT I make. I took MAF to LVO and while I didn't do great it was more me than MAF. Sometimes I get a little blood thirsty and distracted.

Okay, I would like to make this into a 'Raicho Appreciation Thread' now.

    Because this lady is Awesome.

I've used her in 6 games in a row, and not only has she routinely survived through the entire game, but she has also managed to end it ON THE ENEMY DEPLOYMENT ZONE in 4 out of 6 games. The more I play MAF after the update, the more I think the Raicho was the biggest hit of it.

For starters, the Mine dispenser is really great if you play against an oponent that likes to hide their stuff, and even firing at rooftops is easy if they don't have a parapet. And if they have, spec-firing at 11 isn't bad either. I've had Raichos paired with Ikadrons turn the midfield into a maze for skirmishers and I love it.

And then there's the fact this girl can switch it up between long range firepower and close range assault like a champ. She can hang back and hug cover on the first turn, then go out on the warpath the moment your oponent runs out of long range threats. Arm 8 is very effective up close, unless your oponent is packing some close range AP weaponry (like SMGs or MULTI-rifles), and even then you usually have BS17-20 to make sure you land more shots in anyways. And a DAM16 template is bad news.

All in all, the Hungries+Raicho combo is becoming a staple of my lists now, and it even matches with the fact my Oznat (Ren'ehk) and my Raicho Pilot (Oyat) are sisters.

So here's to CB for giving us an awesome and more importantly, fun model to play with! My sincere thanks.

Well that is nice to hear. Siblings still looking out for each other after all these years.
Seems like I'll need to find a Rachio proxy or conversion thanks to your high praise of the unit. Thank you for giving us your two cents on the matter.

Though my data set is considerably smaller, I had a similar experience with her. That mine dispenser followed up with a gang of gaki/preta to force bad decisions is delicious.

I have to admit that I am really liking the new Raicho. I keep trying to fit it into nearly every list I make.

It is nice to see that CB, after all these years have heard the complaints from their player base and created something really special for us to play with. At this rate I am fully expecting we may see a playable Zerat profile to be released sometime around 2024.

Yeah the Raicho really is a stand out tag now with the Mine dispenser and H:shotgun, I've used it a fair quantity including in a tournament aaand honestly unless a Mowang sculpt or a decent quantity of shas come out in the next couple of months she's probably going to some satellites with me as well.

That mine dispenser is tasty and super good for pushing forward and the heavy shotgun is just a beast. Unfortunately she rarely makes it through to the end of the mission either by a lucky crit from a Rodok ML, Saito togan just happening to be deployed 3" from the raicho (which is in suppression) in the rear arc and shielded from the covering Q-drone by the raicho itself, or by being hit 7 times by a voulenteer link team after rolling a 1 and 2 on the heavy shotgun alphastrike.

I could use a hell of a lot less smug when listening to commentary on 4 month old changes.

I also take issue with nothing but praise for Rodocks, the crutchiest of Morat units, being made more of a crutch while barely acknowledging that the changes made to them are far more beneficial to Onyx.
