    Hello,

With the upcoming end of covid containment in my country, 3 friends and I have decided to make a mini tournament between us, with that rule : Each mission will be randomly drawn before each game.

With that in mind, I'm trying to make a list that can be decent in every mission :

    O-12
    ──────────────────────────────────────────────────

    GROUP 1[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]7
    ALPHA Lieutenant (Strategos L2) 2 Light Shotguns, 2 Nanopulsers / Pistol, DA CC Weapon. (0 | 26)
EPSILON MULTI Sniper, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 30)
    OMEGA HMG / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 48)
    GAMMA Feuerbach / Heavy Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 58)
    SIRIUS Boarding Shotgun + 1 SiriusBot / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 23)
[IMG] SIRIUSBOT Heavy Riotstopper / Electric Pulse. (0 | 5)
GANGBUSTER Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Submachine Gun, MadTrap / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 21)
    LAMBDA Engineer Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 16)

    GROUP 2[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]4
    DEVA (Multispectral Visor L2) Spitfire, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 33)
DAKINI Tacbot Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Electric Pulse. (0 | 15)
DAKINI Tacbot Combi Rifle / Electric Pulse. (0 | 13)
DAKINI Tacbot Combi Rifle / Electric Pulse. (0 | 13)

You seem to have built some tactical inflexibility in splitting an 11-order list into two groups, meaning you'll be unable to spend 10 orders on a single unit if that proves necessary. You're also missing ability to deal with AC2 properly and your Epsilon is missing their best buddies - Varangians. With the remaining 4 points you should probably consider either upgrading the remaining to Dakini to Paramedics for button pushing flexibility, hire a Warcor, or get a Yudbot for the Engineer.

While I think it's a terrible idea to draw missions after lists in Infinity, are you by chance also limiting yourself further by playing WYSIWYG?

Yep I know, that's why I've posted the list for advices ;)
About the varangians, I wanted to put some for the smokes, but there's no models yet, and i don't want to buy some Ariadnas highlanders just for that...Or may I proxy them with Kappas? What should I remove to put some in my list?

I know that, but we're all relatively new players, and we want to find the "core" units of our faction...Because yes, you have to adapt your list to the mission, but when I took a look at ITS lists, and the lists posted in this forum, the first thing I saw is that many units are almost always there. Like Intruders HMG, Drones/remotes, Devas, etc...
We're trying to play as WYSIWYG as possible, but ofc we use proxies, we don't really have a choice in this game ^^

Welcome to the game, then! I hope you enjoy it and that you'll have the patience with us grumpy old farts

I suggest that you try and limit the number of missions you play to begin with because of two reasons; it creates extra unnecessary rules overhead and frankly it's easier to identify what you'll need in a list. I suggest Supplies (get objects from three central locations) and Frontline (control zones mission that wants you to push forward) as examples of missions that decently showcase Infinity without being weird (avoid Hunting Party, Biotechvore, Countermeasures and Highly Classified unless you want weird).
If you want unpredictable I would play Countermeasures over Highly Classified or random draw. The issue with all-comer lists is that factions are vastly differently able to handle it and among the weird missions, in Countermeasures you can at least influence somewhat the randomness and have less risk of being completely fubared like in Highly Classified or if your list is not as mobile with Biotechvore.

You'll quickly find units that you yourself like. Try to avoid having other people tell you want you should play, but do listen to why they think certain units work for them.

When I play O-12 I personally use Kuang Shi from the Yu Jing range as miniatures for Varangian - they're distinctive if a bit out of place. One of my gaming pals have made his own Varangians by scavenging Hyppolyta miniatures (and similar). Varangians are great for O-12 because they both fuel your force with orders and provide a smoke screen for units to operate behind, not seldom the Varangians themselves. I try to avoid using Smoke+MSV2 as my main attack method simply because my opponent is often able to simply position their units so that they say "you know what? I won't let you play that game", but it's great for punishing your opponent. Just remember that an Epsilon is decent, but not a powerhouse so you may want to get creative lines of fire rather than try to see the entire board.

When it comes to WYSIWYG, I do suggest you relax it a bit. It's much harder to accomplish in Infinity than many other games due to the slow release cycle and the fact that some miniatures will never get all their weapon options because there's too many to realistically release with CB's high bar on miniature cinematics. Add in that unlike Warhammer, it's almost impossible to source alternative arms or guns that look cohesive. Try and aim for same unit or same amount of body armour as the official miniature. There's also some creative 3D-printable speech bubbles on Thingiverse that you can use to denote proxies if one of your group has a 3D-printer.
With that said, I do have a complete Dahshat force that's 50% Corvus Belli and 50% Raging Heroes and they are the correct scale for Infinity, even if a large part of their range is over the top (provided they even have a top) and because of resin casting there are also some quality issues occasionally so I'm not sure I can recommend that for more than a few miniatures, but that's also an option.

    A few ideas you could explore;
    1. Use a Kappa as stand-in for Kathrine Cho. Cho makes for an excellent LT and can pretend to be a range of units to hide her location and threaten your opponent where there is no threat. Maybe an extra Omega. Maybe a Cyberghost KHD?
    2. Cho and Alpha (either one gets to be Chain of Command) make for a good combo if you're afraid of AD troopers or assassins.
    3. Cyberghost HD+ are excellent tools to use against MSV units. Cyberghosts love Sirius.
    4. Dakini HMG love Cyberghost HD+.
    5. Gamma and Omega in the same list might be a bit much, but do try it to see how you like it!
    6. This is like... my opinion, dude... plain 13-point Dakinis don't really have much purpose in a list.

It looks like you've figured out a purpose for all miniatures, however, and that's great. Don't be afraid to ignore all advice and go with what you thought was best originally. After that you can see if your experience matches what advice you got or if your opponents simply play too differently for the advice to be decent.

    Thanks "old fart" ^^

Thanks for the advices about the missions, we will do that and avoid the "weird" ones for the moment as you suggest.

About the proxies, my friends and I will probably go to tournaments some day, and you said you're using units form other factions (Kuang shi for Varangians), but is this allowed in official tournaments for a few units? If it's not, may I proxy Kappas for Varangians in a tournament?

Thanks for the list ideas, I will try to tweak all this after lunch ;)

The official rules is that any Corvus Belli miniature is an acceptable miniature for proxies in ITS compliant tournaments. It seems most communities are fairly okay with proxies as long as they're consistent, so a Kappa as a Varangian should be okay as long as you don't use actual Kappas in your list, even when playing strangers in competitive settings - just apply common courtesies and inform and remind your opponent as necessary.

I like both list variations and would play them for a fairly wide range of missions. I think you've got a lot of vectors double-covered, which is good. You will have to decide the level of specialists for yourself, while I build lists with about the same number of specialists myself I know there are plenty of people on the forums who would take 6 or more specialists in a list.

The challenges you'll face is probably going to be a combination of getting your specialists up the board while keeping your Siriusbot alive long enough to get good mileage out of it. Remember that the first coherency check happens before your first move and the second coherency check happens after you've shot the glue gun and don't be afraid to use the Siriusbot suicidally if you get a good shot.
When using the Peeler, try to avoid shooting your opponent's deployment zone, that will just give them an opportunity to stack MODs so high that the Peeler can't hit. Instead, go for shots towards objectives or paths near your deployment zone.

Last thing to mention is about the Hacking Device. The fantastic thing with the Hacking Device Plus is White Noise and how evil a Dakini, Gamma or Omega gets when they get to shoot MSV users through it. The drawback is that you get AROs from just about anything moving in your Hacking Area with the Cyberghost, so put that dude extra cowardly and use that quirk against your opponent.

I hope I'm providing a useful level of advice. Good luck!

Why are they playing so many specialists? In case of casualties?

Thanks for the advice, the Sirius team looks a little bit hard to play, but I love the concept and the model. Yep, that's exactly how I imagined my use of the Peeler ;)

White noise looks very good to kill that sneaky sniper, yes ^^

You definitely do, thanks a lot, I can't wait to test the list !

Yes, casualties happen. A crafty opponent might send an Airborne Deployment trooper to hunt for your 4 miniatures that can complete the mission. For me that usually doesn't happen, but then again I usually deploy particularly the "healthcare workers" so defensively that they have a huge problem reaching objectives at all.
Specialists in Marker State (namely Camouflage and TO Camouflage) are a good solution to this, but they are fairly few in number in O-12 (Lynx Specialist Operative being a really good attack piece, you don't usually want to keep hidden for just-in-case)

    I see, thanks !

I tweaked the list again. I think I prefer this new version because there is more tricks :
    - 5 specialists instead of 4
    - 1 AD trooper with KHD
    - 1 CH/TO with infiltration and mines

I think both of your most recent lists have what you need to complete most missions except Looting and Sabotaging and I really like the most recent one because I'm a sucker for Gangbusters - the speed bump that are the MadTraps usually means you'll be safe if you don't get first turn and the Gangbusters themselves are a fairly reasonable investment for a low-key gunfighter. I would probably most like to play the more recent one with Delta Doctor myself because I like having a Doctor in my lists and I've been under-utilising Deltas myself so that's an area I need to improve in.

For looting and sabotaging, in the first list, I got the Delta with D-charges + the engineer with D-charges. in the second list, I only got the engineer though ^^

    Yeah Deltas looks great !

Hi mate, you need to destroy the PAC in CC atacks. For using D-charges in CC you want to declare the using D-charges and apply the -3 CC modiffer. So, Deltas have 10 CC at last in 50% chances to hit. D-charges in CC are awesome, but in profiles with low CC stats without modiffers bonus can be a madness and a lot of burning orders to do this, also, 3 attemps for D-charges uses.

As a drop troop with D-charges are fine carriyng this weapon, see Cuervo Goldstein profile. MA4 with D-charges, 2 burst on 20s. Also, he can survive if he jumps near a mine, chain weapons or simple normal/shock shoot, then, go to suicide to stomp the PAC. He are so expensive as AD troop, but its a cool option for that.

In other ways, for more cheap options, pick a FO extra Team Sirius, they have D-charges but they are 2 units in 1 order, if they can try to stomp the PAC, you can roll 2 dices if this unit ends in CC twice. Also ends in 10CC, but have 2 roll dices, if the bot touch the PAC as a support piece from the sirius attack.

I see your tricks and combo with D-charges in other unit and using the engineer to explode the charges, this is valid as an action, for the example to acomplish the classified D-charges or others tricks: inmobilized troop + drop him D-charges (not as CC attack) + order on engineer to explode. But on this mission, the PAC only can destroyed by CC attack.

I can expose to you a couple options for running this mission, in terms of unespected profiles for run:

Kendrat: cheap and very high CC burst with berserk+naturalbornwarrior+23CC. She ends on 32 CC against the PAC with her DA CC weapon as 14dmg on NBW-B Mode. 2 orders profile in 24p, dogged+total inmunity also FD2 to start tuning, yes she's so cool. You need for her some smoke screens.

Gangbuster KHD: pick a D-charge from the panoply, then expend orders to go on cybermask program, and go to attemp crush the PAC, avoiding the ARO mines for example. Are a best way to go? No, but you have that option for lees orders expended.

Razor: FO or 31p profiles. TO market inside the middle zones. Cheap and easy way for the 31p Razor? Yes, but he have the same problems like the others in terms of CC attemps.

Betatrooper: KHD as a cheap option to pick D-charges and run very fast with cybermask if you want too.
Special Operative have D-charges, but they haven't a optimized tricks like the KHD, but you don't want to expend some orders to grab D-charges and cybermask, just only run. At last, they can attemp "better" to stomp the PAC with 12 CC D-charge attack.
They are cool options? Yes, for sure... That high mobility and mimetism are fine, but... This is not for sure their optimal job.

Hyppolita: a resume for her, yeah, she is the best way to go. She is a great beast for want this jobs. A bit expensive in the first look, but her skill set and tools are the finest bet to stomp anything in the game.
She is a glass cannon profile, hitting very hard, a bit survive against some ammo with NWI but the shock ammo are the high menace for her.
With ODD+breaker rifle in a 13BS is great combination. She can run and shoot twice or a single target or drop the Eclipse smoke screens with high numbers, also if she impetuous troop and dosen't care about her cover... That's bad, but not too much if you have the better chances to win the f2f rolls when she engages.
For using her... You don't need some tricks if you like, you can run the cyberghost with White noise over the sirius bot in the Hyppolita's way. Also using the varangians impetuous smoke barriers before her speed run. She's cool, as a excellent warband troop. MA4 + 23 CC + EXP cc weapon in 14dmg are the real menace for anything to destroy in one order invested in some scenarios... Especially when you need to destroy a PAC inside the Ecplise smoke and her way cleared before starts.

Anyways, using any profiles to do the stomp on the PAC, the problem are to clear the menaces, for example the mines. Just expending orders in to gangbuster moving the madtraps near the camo markers and wait. Gangbusters are the safe ways to do this jobs against the camo markers.
Other that, are the sirius bot, clear the mines, killing the defender troops near the PAC. And last squisshy trick to clear al perimetral menaces, just bring the yudbots for that. After clear the way... Bring the PAC smasher for finish the job and put your rival in pressure.

Here is my sample list for the PAC mission.

I advice to you, this sample list isn't a hard punch list, this are focused only to do the mission, if you play as a competitive player you want to optimize profiles and role in every tournament list project. I bring the best way for me to play this, optimizing the order pool and profiles, bcs my way to play are in ITS focused.
As the last advise, for Hyppolita is she are a solid option to run, isn't a easy profile to play with her, if you are a new player try to play your way as you like, go to lose or win have fun or not, each game you play, ends to learn the game. Make your choices, your plans otherwise, just play and learn.

Have fun and luck in your tournament!
