Basically, the problem is about which weapons give to Lasix if cb want a 5 ft lasiq
    Viral Hmg? Ok, then?
    Viral missile launcher?
    Viral spitfire?
    Viral bsg?
It will be an expensive ft? Sure, mimetism and viral aren't cheap

I'm trying to find a Medium Infantry unit (therefore skipping Characters) with Core Fireteam and not able to build a 5-man team, or lacking a Specialist to put in a Fireteam.

    There is none in PanOceania:
    • in NCA, MIs are Bolts (Core, AVA Total, a plethora of loadouts) and Black Friars (who are designed to be lone operators).
    • in ASA, MIs are Bagh-Mari (Core, AVA 5, again a variety of options) and Akalis (who, like all AD troops, operate alone).
    • in MO, MIs are Crusader Bretheren (ditto what was said on Akalis) and already mentioned Black Friars.
    • in Vanilla PanO this is joined by Svalarheima Nisses, woh have all the potential to be the Svalarheima's Bagh Mari-equivalent.
    There's none in Yu Jing:
    • In IS there's no MI fitting the criteria.
    • In Vanilla YJ, there are Tiger Soldiers (which fall under AD category), and that's it.
    There's none in Ariadna:
    • in the USAriadna the MIs are Grunts (Core, AVA Total, several loadouts), Maverics (who, as Motorcyclists, are designed to operate individually), and Marauders (Core, AVA 5, again a number of loadouts).
    • in MRRF, the sole MI option are Briscards (Core, AVA 5, quite a few options).
    • in CHA, the sole MI option are Scots Guards (AVA 5, Core for the 1st Battalion, or Camouflage for 2nd Battalion.
    • in Vanilla Ariadna, this is suplemented by Tankhunters, who operate solo as Camouflage-capable troops.
    There's one in Haqqislam:
    • in QK the MIs are Djanbazan, Druze and Sekban (each of them: Core, AVA 5 and a variety of profiles, including at least 1 Specialist).
    • in HB, the MIs are Ragiks (AD troops) and the Lasiqs (Core, AVA 4, no specialists, 2 loadouts only)
    • in Vanilla Haqq there are no additional MI types (save for characters)
    There's none in Nomads:
    • in Tunguzka, the sole MI type are Grenzers (Core, AVA 5, a number of options plus they can be freely mixed with LI Securitate in Fireteams).
    • in Bakunin, the MIs are Prowlers (Camo operators), Reverend Custodiers (Haris, AVA 3, all of them are Specilasits, may be joined by a Reverend Healer in the Haris), Reverend Healers (can join a Fireteam of either Custodiers or Moiras, are specialists), Reverend Moiras (Core, AVA 5, a number of options, and can be joined by a Healer), and Sin-Eater Observants (who, not unlike PanO Black Friars, are designed for a solitary operation).
    • in Corregidor, the MIs are Intruders (Camo operators), Hellcats (AD Troops) and Wildcats (Core, AVA 5, a number of options).
    • Vanilla Nomads does not bring any additional MI choices.
    There's none in Combined Army:
    • in Onyx Contact Force the MIs are Makrep Trackers (solitary operators) and Rodoks (Core, AVA 5, a variety of options, and could be joined by an Umbra or Nexus).
    • in Shasvasti Expeditionary Force the MIs are Caliban (Core except for the Inferior Infiltration loadouts, AVA 5, hell a lot of Specialists) and Gwailos (Core, AVA 5, a handful loadouts).
    • in Morat Aggression Force, MIs are Yaogat (Core, AVA 5, a number of options), Rodok (Core, AVA 5, a variety of options), Rasyat (AD troops), and Raktorak (who are made specifically for joining Fireteams of Heavy Infantry... and is still a Specialist)
    • in Vanilla Combined Army there are also Skiavoros though due to price tag they don't seem to be intedned for an exclusive Fireteam material (they are, however, not unlikely to be able to join a Fireteam of cheaper troops once the mainline CA sectorial is released).
Aleph is out of consideration, as no ASS unit can form Fireteam: Core, and I know nothing about how OSS is going to look like. Still,
    • In Assault Sub-Section, Thorakitai (Fireteam: Enomotarchos, AVA 6, a number of profiles including specialists) and Agema (solitary marksmen)
    • in vanilla Aleph, this is boltered by Yadu troops, who seem to be intended as a part of a mixed fireteam of some sort.

Same with Tohaa: no Fireteam: Core skill avialable. Still,
    • in vanilla Tohaa, there are Gao-Rael (Fireteam: Core, AVA 4, few options and no specilaists, however a Triad can be joined by any Fireteam-sapable Tohaa Specialist), Gao-Tarsos (AD troops) and Taqeul Officers (who operate on their own).

    In Non-Aligned Armies:
    • Druze Bayram Security has Druze Shock Teams (Core, AVA Total, loads of options... and can be bolstered with Brawlers) as their sole MI choice.
    • Ikari Company has Druze Shock Teams (Core, AVA 4, loads of options... 5th member can be a Tanko though) as their sole MI option.
    • Japanese Secessionist Army has no MI entries at all.
    • StarCo has Hellcats (AD troops) as their sole MI choice.

Conclusion - Medium Infantry are, as a general rule, either:
    • Airborne Deployed Troops (thus unlinkable)
    • Camo troops (thus unlinkable)
    • Models specifically desinged for single operation (again, unlinkable)
    • Fireteam: Core capable troops with a Specialist in tow, who can compose a 5-man Fireteam.
The only troops who fall outside of that classification seems to be:
    • Bakunin's Reverend Custodiers (no Fireteam: Core, but Fireteam: Haris, AVA 3, all members are Sppecialists)
    • Ikari Company's Druze (Fireteam Core, AVA 4, but can be buidt up to 5 models through the addition of a Tanko Zensenbutai HI, Specialists available)
    • Hassassin Bahram Hassassin Lasiqs (Fireteam:Core, AVA 4, no specialists).

    Hello,

I don't think they are something unfinisched. I'am more of the Idea, that our loved "lassiqs" didn't too well the edition change. Before a fireteam of four members with climbing plus was something really really powerfull, because they didn't loose the cover, so you had too many chances to made this guys a really pain in the ass. Now they are good, but not so good ando probably a five member don't be something too powerfull.

    Greetings

Uh. They are the option called in when a fiday can't get the job done.

Storming in with guns blazing could be anyone.

    Fluff-wise? Sure.

Game-wise? I can't say I see that happening. A target that a Fiday can't bring down is either too tough for him (a multi-wound with loads of Armor / BTS, if we take al-Djabel into consideration. And such a target is likely to have decent chances against a Lasiq as well) or too well-protected all around (likely with a Fireteam, Perimeter Weapons, Mines and so on) again making it a tough nut to crack for a Lasiq (because of stacked ARO / modifers and / or not being able to draw LOS).

I mean, in my last game I had to deal with a Acontaciemento Regular Core with 2 Snipers (entrenched), supported by a TraumaDoc, Naga Minelayer and a Peacemaker Armbot. And not a real way to get a Fiday there reliably. But facing off against a full Core of Regulars with 2 MSRs wouldn't go any easier with a Lasiq (I tried to get it done with a Muyib HRL, but I was pretty much out of luck...).

Still, a 4-man Lasiq Core doesn't cut it. And I believe simply upping their AVA to 5 wouldn't solve that. Whatever niche the Lasiqs held in 2ed, is no longer there. Either make them work as a Haris (and then do the same long-ranged support job as the Core does now... except for not taking your Core slot), or redo them totally, giving them Ambush Camo or Combat Camo, or something else.

You mean I'm wrong about it?

A sniper is a potent weapon of war and assassination asset, no-one's going to argue that. But if your target is either imprenetrable to your sniper's gun, or impossible to set your sights on it, then it loses its potency....

Actually a ft with only Mr and vsr are pretty useless(are a lot of point with less return)
And burn your single ft spot when a govads or a muyibs are more useful

I'd prefer that Corvus remove her linkable status and focuses in doing an advance troop that supports your farzans in the midfield. A trooper with advanced deployment L1 and a viral marksman rifle would be the perfect profile for mid 20~ points. They can give her limited camo and/or stealth, but, understandably, the price must be higher in that case.

We can argue that this role can be fullfilled by the Ayyar but he has Specialist Operative, Free Agent can clear mines for free.

We came to a similar conclusion in a conversation with @Papa Bey - no matter what you do to improve the Lasiq Fireteam, they are no match for a Muyib or Govad Core Fireteam (I'm not so sure about Lasiq Haris, but that's another kettle of fish). You'd need a number of new profiles to make Lasiqs match for a general-purpose / multirole Fireteam like those two (and, actually, Ghilim w/ Leila too!).

So, in N3, Lasiq's role isn't that of a Fireteam member - but HB could definitely use a camouflaged sniper, especially given the deadliness of a Viral Sniper Rifle... still, that'd require some serious redesign.

Lasiqs are very useful if you use them to assassinate and then defend a firelane at range. Your opponent can easily kill them if you leave them on ARO, but if you use them to pop up from a rooftop, nail an ARO piece, and then leave them in a lateral firelane they can lock down against stuff with lesser range, they'll do great. They aren't that expensive and they're pretty optimised for that job (having, essentially, no costs to them on top of a Ghulam beyond BS 12, CH: Mimetism, Climbing Plus, the X-Visor and a Viral weapon).

If you take a Viral Rifle Lasiq, climb them into a good elevated central position and put them into suppression fire then you're literally using everything they're paying for to not be a basic rifleman cheerleader. That's pretty god damn efficient, most troopers don't get that level of use from their skills.

Well, that seems to be very dependant on the table in question, and somewhat Order-intensive.
Then again, I'll have to give that a try.

But still, that doesn't really make sense of a Lasiq Core Fireteam...

I often can spot a location that a Lasiq can perch on which will cause problems, once you start looking, you'll find they come up a lot! It can be order intensive, but then combined orders exist. And if you do it as part of eliminating an enemy trooper and protecting an objective, it's pretty nifty! Plus the lethality of Viral Ammo cannot be underestimated, and not many things can bring it from odd angles and extreme range like a Lasiq.

What i dream for lasiq is a fireteam option with ghulam, like special fireteam 4 ghulam + 1 lasiq or even better up to 2 lasiq can join a fireteam core of ghulam. That wont raise the cost of the fireteam too much and they will see the table way more. I mean if grenzer con link with securitate i dont see a reason why this cant happens .

Since there is a big update for all factions planned at the end of the year, we might see something for the Lasiqs.
But I personally dont get my hopes to high and wait what CB comes up with.

The scenery is always in infinity something really determinant, specially when you build your list to go into a ITS Tournament where you can go with only 2 list to make between 3 or 5 missions. If you are lucky you will find a good table for your list, if not probably you will be screw :/. I played almost every week a tournament and I found so many times a table wich make me almost loose from the beggining. If the table is too open the first player have a really advantage if have troops like an Avatar or Achilles, to put some examples. They are only a few troops wich can good fight in ARO against this kind of profiles. If you can hide probably you loose 4 or more miniatures before yout turn beginns.

Lasiqs have a good nicho if don't play other core. In hassasin you can use the asawira haris + some other core, likee 3 lasiqs, and still put 4 single and dangerous guys like fidays or farzans.

Where was this mentioned? the big update?

I mean I would not complain. Updating some of the older sectorials to match some of the capabilities of the new ones would be great. mixed Fireteams, named characters, etc.

Big update might be a bit of an exaggeration, but at the Gen Con seminar Bostria mentioned there would be army updates around novemberish that would include sectorial stuff for TAK and Vedic, and potentially some profile changes for other factions.
