Don't love him in vanilla. Don't see myself picking many firefights against a standing MSV2 that I can't already win. The super jammer is something, but many of the best targets have stealth causing it to be an active turn weapon. He doesn't score, leading to non-scoring or makaul-less triads (gross) and is very squishy for the points. Really feels like the only good profile is the smoke one for Spiral, which we understandably did not get. Very much a token representation for vanilla with the 'real' profiles being in Spiral Corps
Yeah I completely forgot about the Helot. They are so awesome.. You can have two triads, each one with a kriigel and two reex
As far as we know that is the Special Triad, one Kriigel + two Reex, as shown in the Battle Report between Spiral and Foreign.
And assuming it's a special triad rather than special haris there's no limit to how many special triads we can have.
I think it is just the reex which have the special triad requirement. The Agent can join a non reex triad, based on what I see in his rule listing.
Apparently the phero-booster is a BS weapon that shoots the same ammo as the symbiobugs hit with. No word on range bands or burst
Thoughts on Phero-Booster Pheromonic ammo=FO of Pain... Now this thought... 1. If you're hit with Pheromonic ammo and you go down does that mean that you can still be targeted by speculative fire /guided ammo? 2. Does This mean no ARO from initial target? 3. Pie plate off of target... Now a Weak Order provider is a Threat Zone to his own force...cross that lane, get dropped by a Phero-Booster shot. Now I can touch you with a template to hit anyone passing through... Order intensive? Probably But so so much in way of Area denial taking place here in Sprial. Very cool weapon with some Synergy potential in the LGL and SHRL. Especially the SHRL being able to angle that fire filled circular template off the base of an unconscious model as a threat if not actually follow up with it into his/a Fireteam/Camo marker... Any thoughts on this idea?
Played a game with a Spiral list with two Kriigel agents today. It was an interesting experience. They were strictly eraser-bots, and one of them died early to an ARO from a TO Camo model that was a bit unfortunate (2 dice 13s to 1 dice 13s, I lost; such is life) but the other found a nook and nestled down with its Eraser area over the central objective in Acquisition. Over the course of the game he Erasered Achilles, a Posthuman Mk2 and made a general nuisance of himself, but in the end I lost because Eraser couldn't stop the Yudbot that made a last turn run to the high ground. Overall takeaways: 1. If you run them in a Tri-Core, SSL2 on a jammer-style weapon is a big deal (note: this assumes Tri-Core will give bonuses for both 4-man and 5-man link numbers). 2. Eraser is much more potent than a Jammer in active turn, but Isolation, while good, still leaves an enemy model around to take dangerous AROs 2b. ...unless they're a posthuman. Fufufu.3. They're as fragile as any other line infantry if caught in an unfriendly gunfight.
With release of full rules: The phero booster version seems like a much better choice than lgl in vanilla. We have tons of template weapons already (my standard list runs 15 troops with templates). Also its a fart gun. Does seem pretty squishy for its points, but i think its usually a better choice than aelis keesan (thats not saying much nowadays). Mebbe run it in defensive missions, where you want to protect an area and eraser will be a reasonable aro
It seems like a decent way to achieve forward observer classifieds too. B3 and wound the guy you are shooting it at are quite good even before the targeted effect.
What kind of triads are you using the Kriigel in vanilla Tohaa? I have a hard time fitting him in, most of my triads consist of one killer one specialist and a makaul. He is not a specialist so he cant take that place, he is not a makaul and with only one wound he isn't a great killer either. I see 3 options so far, Sukeul HMG, Sakiel Paramedic and Kriigel for the mirrorball against msv aro pieces but a kaeltar with bombs would fill that role too and is cheaper. Draal AP, Kriigel and Makaul the Draal is both specialist and killer and the kriigel adds mirrorball and eraser to this aggressive triad. Last option Kriigel, makaul and a cheap unit or kriigel alone to put him in a place close to an objective to erase enemys that get to close. The Phero Booster looks fun but with one wound seems risky to use.
i played him a few times with sukeul hmg/makaul/kriigel triad, and found the white noise to almost always be worth the orders. that being said, it might be better in a triad of sukeul k1 Lt./makaul/kriigel that plans on pushing buttons and being aggressive. eraser makes for a very strong aro, and with a makaul and sukeul it should be pretty safe getting to most places. the strongest combos i see with it are putting down white noise to protect sukeuls so they can have better shootouts with msv guys, or for making it so makauls can advance and use the white noise as a eclipse smoke that they can see through, but msv aro pieces cannot. it might be ok with two makauls, where they just run across the field to be a thorn in the opponents side, but i think having a sukeul in there just for a few shots is prolly better. as for the booster, i agree, i haven't shot it at anyone. seems like too much risk for too little reward most of the time, especially because eraser is such a good aro to take.
Thank you borings, yeah that makes sense, the phero booster seems like a pretty intresting aro weapon burst 2 16 bts dmg in 16-24 range band that also marks the enemy, but with one wound it simply is better to try to use the eraser aro...
I like Breaker+LGL/Makaul/Sakiel Spitfire for midfield area denial. As @borings says there“s a sackful of LOF impeding tricks to help the advance-by-spitfire. Once there the LGL can annoy opponents at medium range and pheroware for those closer by. And who knows, suddenly that spammy Araidna list shows up and our ubiquitous Clipso FOs might get to tag something for some speculative fire? ;)
Found this yesterday in the Rumble on Route 66 Video from CB. Everbodys Spiral-Corp Darling gets an alternative sculpt in an single blister. Thats a really sweet Mini.
Very good mini for Tohaa players that didn't get the big Box. As I bought the Box (it's waiting for me in my LGS), I'll pass on this one.
