Antenocitis Workshop – UKS "Goshawk" Heavy Drone

I've recently stumbled across Antenocitis STL catalogue and picked this little nasty fella here to try them out. I sent the files to a local printing service and had them printed in SLA resin. Just as a rough estimate for what this would cost, the initial price asked was 35 €, but they ended up sending me a second drone for free, so I got really lucky with them.

I really dig the overall design and the detail is solid as well. I'm confident this is going to look fantastic when painted. Some of the fittings were too tight, which was a minor nuisance in this case, but I could see how that becomes a major pain for bigger kits that rely on those connections for stability. I'm not sure if that's an error with the files or with the printing process, so look out for that if you're planning on printing them yourself. The same issue is apparently also present with one of their bigger ships.

Another nitpick is that it has no landing gear, so it rests on the gun mount. Shouldn't be too difficult to add a simple tripod, though.

As for the usage in Infinity, the obvious idea is to use it as a terrain piece. A secondary use would be to also use it as a marker for which side has controlled jump activated, representing additional aerial support interfering with the enemy dropship. With two designated landing pads on each side of the table, this is a nice way to add another layer of player interaction, obscuring/opening a firelane with one of these.

Let me know how you like it!

Printed a couple as well, to use as terrain. Tight fittings are IMHO due to the super tight tolerancies in the original file, plus that when resin is a BIT overexposed it will grow a bit larger than the actual model STL when printing, creating a need for some clearences. But that is part of dialing in your resin/printer settings.

I did print some YJ weapons (a ML and an HMG) and glued them to the underwing carriages to make one of mine an Invincible Army fire support one-man fighter, which I thing seems fine due to size... but still a scenery item.

I am also disappointed in the lack of landing gear, especially since it looks like it has fittings underneath that were prepared for that.

You can resize and add Azure Dragon's landing gear if you have that file as well.

My second venture into Haqqislam has begun. Back when Red Veil was released, I got started with Infinity and the two starter factions turned out to become my favourites. While I never let go of my YJ, I ended up selling my initial Haqq force – which I dearly regret to this day. Fast forward several years, and here I am with a glorious comeback, as the sword of Allah has been drawn from its sheath.

The Maghariba Guard arrived last week and it was a bit of a mess to get rid of the tilt they designed the model with. Now it's standing straight and looking awesome. Can't wait to put this bad boy on the table next weekend.

    Fiday:

This one turned out to be quite the project. I'm not a big fan of the original design with that huge butter knife and naked armor, so I picked out the newish o-12 Razor unit as conversion fodder to give my fiday a bit more flair. Since I generally prefer the Shock Mine loadout, the upper body of the Razor was ideal. All it took was to saw off the original torso in a similar angle to the Razor's, stick the parts together and clean up the transitions. The head needed to go to keep the iconic haqq visuals intact, and the butter knife was trimmed down to a more reasonable Kuri-like shape.

Knauf is another one of those profiles and characters I really enjoy, but I just couldn't live with the head. Outrage does mention his ties to the Hunzas and Haqqislam in general, and with the help of his recent buffs, he has found a home in my Haqq lists. Now it was time to make the visual connection. His face is a kitbash of several pieces (CG hacker visor, not sure where the respirator is from), covered by a turban to clean up the silhouette and add some desert flair.

Again, the head. I don't know what it is that irks me about the hedgehog hairstyle, but here I just decided to sculpt another turban to add protection and sneakiness to my surprise panzerfaust.

More stuff is in the pipeline, but I haven't quite decided on all of it. Yara Haddad is an important puzzle piece in my lists, so she is currently proxied by Lunah. I'm also thinking about adding an Al Hawwa sniper down the line, as they have gotten some nice utility. Gonna find a Tuareg sniper or the sitting Lunah as a base line model for that one, though.

Some Nahab is probably also going to be necessary, but that's a difficult one, as the original sculpts are among the worst I've personally seen from CB. Gonna have to find decent conversion material, maybe Nyokas or Crushers. Suggestions are welcome, of course!

After quite some time I've got a couple of new conversions to show: Tarik Mansuri and Hassassin Farzan

    Tarik1.jpg
    Farzan1.jpg

Tarik is a great sculpt in general, but the way he's pointing the spitfire always meant he was difficult to maneuver around and face correctly. My solution was to repose the right arm into this new stance, which extends his silhoutte a bit vertically, but narrows it down a lot horizontally. The other "issue" for me is again the haqqi butter knife, which I changed to a more suitable spare knife I had in my bits box.

The Farzan is a conversion of the beaker rifle Zhayedan from red veil. I love the base sculpt and I had a spare one, so I brought out the tools to give it a BSG and a pose to match. This fella just assumed command after Tarik fell in a valiant (and suicidal) charge.

Hope you like it, more to come soon!

And I'm back with another update: The Kamau Sniper

This one really irked me to no end since its release with its weird pose, but for Varuna it is one of the central pieces, so I had to find a way. First, I wanted to try and source a Bagh Mari sniper as a proxy, but when I found out their pricetag, that option went out of the window. So the tools came out to turn this lady into something I could live with.

    2.jpg

The new pose was achieved mostly by carefully bending and twisting the legs, while her arms remained in their original position. The head, however, had to be reposed, so I cut it off and pinned it to get the angle just right. I also pinned the left heel for increased stability. There is still a bit of (cleverly hidden) clean up work to do around the neck and heel areas, but the picture is pretty much what the end result should look like. Now she is in the middle of a tactical dash towards a new sniping spot, after her initial position has been compromised by enemy drop troops.
