FO has better access to classifieds than KHD, isn't vulnerable to getting sniped by other hackers, and more importantly TO and a Suppressive fire weapon makes for a decent mid field skirmishing threat able to lock down an area of the board with -12 modifiers which can make it very hard to remove once revealed. Reveal, press button, go into Suppressive Fire with a coordinated order and watch your opponent burn orders trying to dislodge it. BS11 and B3 in the active turn isn't great, but with surprise shot and TO it'll do in a pinch as well given that it can infiltrate straight into its good range bands. A damn sight better than the stupid bow anyway. The answer is yes, this is a really decent profile. I'd definitely use it.
Well usually I'd rather have a KHD on hand to kill hackers that would otherwise be a pain to HIs. FO is the most common specialist type that we have and can be delegated to Guilangs. Suppressing fire with TO/ODD is not an ability that we have a lot of though, now that Shikami left us.
That's not to say you wouldn't use the KHD ninja as well, you can have both. Ninjas in Vanilla are AVA2, we've just never had a decent reason to bring more than 1. The other advantage to FO Ninjas is they would free up your Guilangs to use the Minelayer profile without sacrificing your midfield skirmishing specialists.
The FO profile is interesting in that it gives us another option for a ninja specialist. Sure, the KHD profile is great, and against hackers, it very much has a role in a YJ list. Actually, bringing it along if you're running, say, a Su Jian rambo seems like a given. Transformer cat benefits from the protection and such. It's also vulnerable in ways the FO is not, and lacks any real offensive punch outside of melee against a lot of models, where the FO profile just seems better. Also, as has already been brought up, covering fire + TO is a thing. Playing ISS on my end, picking which one to take does seem like a very real choice in that their core function is the same, but for 6 points, instead of a specialist with a narrow in scope, but powerful, weapon (KHD), you get a generalist skirmisher. Or, I mean, it would be a real choice, except that we haven't been given access to the FO ninja at this point. I assume this is down to an update still being in the works (there're some other tweaks necessary to the uploaded lists, it seems). If not, considering it's not a JSA exclusive profile (Ikari gets it, too), someone at CB is impressively determined to piss off YJ players for no real reason.
Err, guys. The FO ninja isn't available to Yu JIng. Unless its an error, army 6 does NOT list the FO ninja as an option for Yu Jing or ISS. So...ouch.
Yes, we noticed. We were speculating on its usefulness in an alternate reality where CB didn't completely fuck up the handling of the JSA split and actually provided Vanilla players with some compensation.
Considering how often i end up playing the AHD ninja in ISS solely because i want a real weapon on my TO dude, i don't think i would be able to play anything else. The only weak point is the shock CCW. Actually it's more "Yu Jing doesn't get nice things, but hey look this new sectorial get those nice things you wanted, so you can actually try them out but not in your faction!" Jokes aside, ridiculously-optimized-wu-ming haris and ninja FO are nice and all, and i really wish we had them in ISS/Vanilla but mostly because i don't like the idea of other factions getting "our toys, but better". Though it really only apply to wu-ming haris since ninjas are primarly a JSA unit, so i guess it's ok. I'd probably be waaaaaay more pissed off if i was a corregidor/bakunin player and had a look at starco's HI link: brigada/riot grrl moving around with inbuilt healthcare is just so good that if you're going with one of those link you should probably just play starco. Ps: the desperados/yojimbo/rui-shi speedy smoky pain train looks hella fun too.
Hey, man. I know how you feel. Spector having drop bears........as a Pano player it feels bad man. :(
Consider how many mistakes there are in this Army update, they might have just forgot to update YJ Ninja profiles. In better news, ISS CSUs got updated lol Sent from my SM-G935P using Tapatalk
That's legitimately useful - and specialist at 12 points is, but with a nanopulsar, LSG and rifle seems like a pretty solid deal. For what it's good for, it seems like a solid alternative to the FO CG (yes, sure, I realise it's WIP 12).
Yea I am not complaining about getting those, it just seems odd that CSU gets updated, but Ninja didn't. The 12 point specialist profile is legit, compare to a CG FO outside of a Core link, it comes with a more useful weapon loadout and can duo.
Well sometimes CB just screws things up. Remember when Bit & Kiss released, and it was listed only for Vanilla and Onyx, and then a week or so later they put it in Shas and Morats? I think in that case their intent was always to make it Onyx and Vanilla only, and the outcry made them change it. With this last update, they seem more determined to drive sales away from Yu Jing to their new project, so they wouldn't want to encourage people...
I do believe that your opinion does matter. But compare CB only to better Wyrd parts is a bit unfair. 1) I`ve dropped Malifaux because with this policy faction became maze of non-understandable profiles that I haven`t be able to combine to something workable without netlisting. 2) Wyrds consistently butcher units rules with erratas and sometimes have to sell entire card packs with updated cards that are required to play game. Wonderful feeling when you boy some box to combine it with existing force and month later errata ruins that combination and you can put your $30 to trashbin. 3) Obvious Gremlin favorites. Faction that receives all new stuff other faction are given but better and usually cheaper. I`m sorry, where did you get this data? According to last year statistics published here -> https://www.infinitythegame.com/blo...statistics-analyzing-season-8s-organized-play Vanilla Yu-Jing took 466 of 7375. That is 6.32%. If we`re speaking about all non-JSA Yu-Jing that will be 741 of 7375. That is 10.05%. Far from quarter. If we are speaking about your local community that`s local community. My have two players with Yu-Jing being primary faction, that`s less then quarter of current league play (10 + proxybot).
Depends. If you think outside of the box of ITS (you do know that not every game HAS to use those restrictions, right? Unless you are one of *those* for whom EVERY game has to be a tourney practice game?) anyone can use Saito (or any other merc) - ALIENS included.. Inside the ITS box, it is too dark to tell.
