Personally I'm reluctant to carry 1 wound link teams closer to the enemy, especially big 5-man links.1 chain rifle just tears up medium infantry so easily. I never like to advance much with MI links... I primarily just maneuver for better long-range firing positions. But I'm sure there are players out there who can make them work better than I.
While true, deploying slightly further forward only helps with this. It's an option opened rather than something you will use every game (which I like).
Yeah, I like the new rule for being able to deploy on better vantage points while reducing crowded deployment zones. Very helpful.
I don't understand what the implications of long service is. Can someone explain it please? Given NCA only has access to Garuda, the Landing Assitance is not a big boon for me but I think this is going to have huge ramifications for games. At least I hope so. Always loved drop troopers but no one uses them in my meta. Except Van Zant who can screw off especially as he doesn't get the buff. But mostly cause screw Van Zant...
Just making sure, your oppponents aren't trying to claim partial cover with impetuous troops, are they?
Predator is easy, just run up to an Unc model and chop it. The model is not "killed" until the end of the game if it is in an Unc state. Just like you can FO an Unc unit for objectives you can chop an Unc unit, you just need to roll unlike Coup De Grace.
And that's not like you have to do this on the best unit your opponent is fielding. doing this on a Guilang with a Seraph is pretty safe. But, in general, I think De Fersen is just the best for Highly classified now as he can make 2/3 of the classified objectives of the deck. I think I'll enjoy this season too. Last year was good but this seems even better.
Ok, that was the second derp in one sentence. There are some classified that veteran or elite or CoC troops can do, also not sure if hunting party is still around, but veteran/elite troops gained adhesive launchers there. What I never understood about ADHL, is that it's a B1 weapon with bad range, which is supposed to be aimed at hard target, like HI or TAG. There are really few circumstances where it's a good idea to get into a firefight with a B1 lousy range weapon. Also pulling off some stun or sticky requires quite few extra orders, then you need to get close, fail that WIP roll 5 times. That's a lot of effort for 1 point. Why can't Pano just shoot everything in the face and call it classified?
Might be alone with this but I abolutely loathe how Xenotech works. It's bad enough to have a lower than average Order pool combined with lower WIP for button pushing. Now you're expected to spend ressources trying to make WIP11 checks for Objective Points? What I'm going to use the Xenotech for is to protect important solo pieces, HI and TAGs from templates. As a neutral Civilian the Xenotech can cancel Mines, E/Marats, ML AROs etc. Unfortunately that won't work for Links as CivEvac counts as G:Sync. Looking forward to abuse this anyway. To be honest I'd even have a hard time reliably killing 3 guys in CC with JSA. I dread that Classified already. Taking out one or two key targets isn't all that hard, but your CC trooper usually dies for it or runs out of targets after. Sure there are games where Yojimbo gets through slice and dice through 8 guys, but the flipside to that is games where Yojimbo dies to the first ARO, Saito gets stuck and your Ninja dies trading a CC Attack vs a Nanopulser. I can see a Magister Link cleaning up Unconscious models in turn 3 to get it, but I'm not hyped about "win harder" Classifieds when you won the game already. You're still Engaged to an Unconscious model, so I expect most people to simply walk up to a downed Specialist and then proceed to roll WIP checks. The idiocy that your Doc/Engineer/Paramedic has to be your Datatracker while the other guy has to be a Specialist makes this pretty unlikely to succeed. Outside of Datatrackers there aren't a lot of guys I can see going for this turn 1, the Linked Hospitaler Doc being one of the very rare exceptions,
Btw. The Xenologist is actually bad for PanO lists. Unless you are running NCA (with lot of orders), ASA and MO doesn't really like it as 3-4 orders in 2nd combat group is risky to use for the Xenologist, and both sectorials doesnt have access to "out of sequence" orders to fuel Xenologist objective (like OSS can use NCO/Lt/Strategos and DataTracker orders to get a "free" chance of scoring).
But can they now deploy on the roof of a building? Since the new rule only restricts the drop being in a closed/semi-closed building.
Which makes me think TAGs aren't safe anywhere on the board now if an assault hacker can drop basically into any perfect position.
Any horizontal flat surface the size of a Circular Template and free of scenery elements may be chosen as the Drop Zone. To me it wasn't possible.
They could always deploy on the roofs of buildings, so long as the template could be placed. Now they just have to have a free spot large enough for their base.
Granted it was unclear from the AD rules, but: http://infinitythewiki.com/en/Scenery_Item_Profile#Landing_Aid simply didn't work if the roofs of buildings weren't a valid landing location. Basically, it seems that it never occurred to CB that anyone would ever consider the flat roof of a building as a "scenery item" so they never spelled out that it wasn't.
