?

Do you think that the Capital "S" in OperationS for the new OSS Sectorial is odd?

I don't know why you call them OSS when the correct abbreviation is OS. The same with Imperial Service, it's IS, not ISS. Why putting a second 'S'?

Why are you adding a second capital S in 'Subsection'?

Because this is the way we've referred to it on the forums for literally years.

I think we're talking at cross-purposes. :-( The second S in Subsection isn't capitalised in real-world grammar, nor as an in-universe term by CB.

Actualy CB used to spell it Operation Sub-Section, so OSS as an abreviation was valid.

I cannot see the hyphen on Subsection...

I've just checked back to HSN2 and it's spelled both with and without the hyphen, but even when the hyphen is used it's 'Sub-section'.

"Used" to was a key point. Gonna find you an example. I know for a fact that it was spelled that way frequentely. In the andromeda introduction blog post for example.

It's not the capital letter that makes an abreviation (well in english i don't know i must admit, but in mine it isn't). It's usually the first letter of each word, capital or not, they are usualy added for emphasis.

Whatever, that does not change the fact that people are using it out of habit, both because it is something that was said for years and because of real life examples. Habits don't change that easily, and the fact CB is telling otherwise is nowhere near enough to change a years old habit.

It sure won't change mine, considering the o.s.s.s.s. and OperationS thing. One looks like someone didn't know what an abreviation is used for, the other a guild of edgy teenagers.

Well, we could say that OSS is now a multilayered acronym for "Operations Subsection of the S.S.S." :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:

What's the term for that particular brand of human evil where a person repeats the last word of an acronym (like ATM machine)?
That seems to be what's going on with OInfinityS.

RAS Syndrome, redundant acronym syndrome syndrome. Or do you mean the ones that self-recurse infinitely?

So has the convention of calling it "Vedic" died?

I like OS, less letters, and it matches the english acronym OS (Operating System-system software that manages hardware and software resources), and I think that is a little poetic.

Vedic was always a community thing, like calling the Steel Phallus "Greeks" or "ASS".
