I've noticed lately that pretty much every faction plays like Tohaa now. Tons of mixed links and multi-links. Our triad gimmick has pretty much been incorporated across the board. On the one hand I'm sad for Tohaa, but on the other now everyone runs the style that I like. For really sick links look at the new Haqqislam sectorial, their "Ghulam" link can do just so damn much. The only interesting spiral list I managed to make was heavy on skirmishers too. Here they actually have decided advantages over vanilla. They lose a Clipsos, but gain +1 Impersonator, the good impersonator loadouts, +1 2W Infiltrator (and can link), the helots and diplomat/warcor for speedbumps and they can hide their LT amongst the rando chaksa cheerleaders. I was more excited for this than I was for the equivalent I could make with vanilla, though tbh the camospam possibilities for Shasvasti really take the spotlight away from Spiral
@WiT? I'm not seeing any "Rambos" What I do see especially after talking to my brother who's 27ish of 30ish games I've played is control... Example: (Dazer on the Dark Side of an objective) Take an objective, leave- as you leave place Dazer- kill things approaching objective- Yes Yes "multiterrain xyz..." In the game where "pushing the button" is incredibly important... Losing Midfield control can become a problem.. You can litter the battlefield with Deployable weapons, Break fire teams and shut down Rambos like it's nothing, shoot and wound strong targets with a strong weapon (14-16)and then be able shoot at that Target again with a + 6 to hit... Lot of board control, lot of options for hide the lieutenant, a lot of Guerrilla Hit and Run.. I think people want the Easy Button... I think people want the incredible Range band heavy-hitting guns... I think people are really mad about their symbiomate.. I think people want to complain no I'm not talking about any one particular person I'm just saying in general wargamers tend to be Bitchy group full of transitioning issues What I don't think people are doing... I don't think people are looking at the green numbers in The Matrix People aren't stepping back and looking at the Kaleidoscope of options with this Sect... And then again I could just be Theory crafting and blowing a lot of smoke or I could smash an invincible Army by halting them in their tracks in the Midfield shutting everything they have down and denying them the ability to "see" my troops when it's most important SMG vs. Sniper rifle.... SMG Wins if you can't see me and I get close enough... If you can't turn a corner without hitting a Landmine, Dropbear, Dazer... I don't even see anyone mentioning ARO SymbioBombs... Thoughts?
I am most excited about the Draal in a Tricore. Spiral Corps ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 3 DRAAL (Minelayer) AP Marksman Rifle, D-Charges, Antipersonnel Mines / Viral Pistol, Knife. (1 | 40) TAAGMA (Tri-Core) Breaker Combi Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 21) TAAGMA Breaker Combi Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 16) 2 SWC | 77 Points Give it a symboimate and if is the best gun fighter in the game. It has an -3 mod that can not be taken away, takes away one burst from AROs but does not suffer that effect. With cover you get rid of any 5 man link bonus and you start in good range with FD Lvl.2 the AP MMR. Plus you are count as being in a 5 Man link, so you are BS 16 burst 4. This changes the game for people who like static 5 man defensive links as they will not be the order sink they used to be. Plus it is also a specialist and has D-charges. Open in Infinity Army
B3 Autocannon is no joke. Kurgat Haris does it 8 points cheaper but Longarms are ARM 3 so you're less scared leaving them out for ARO. Multiterrain is useful in an army that puts down zones of very difficult terrain.
Actually MSV nullifies the visual MOD, but for the rest of the folks out there (that is like 99% of fireteams) this guy is destruction incarnate. How about smashing in a White Hacking Device?
I'd be intrigued to see what you think a Spiral corps list that does that looks like. You can win games with limited long range firepower if your midfield control is strong enough, Nomads can certainly pull this off. But Spiral have shoddy midfield too. Longarms are a strong contender for the worst unit in the game imo. A Longarm haris costs 1.5swc and 70 points Vanilla can stand up a Sukeul Ml in triad for 1.5 and 60 points.
Care to elaborate? I think you are overvaluing non lethal non minelayer depoyables whilst undervaluing modifiers to the games core interactions.
Calm down, guys, It's but a game! Regarding the midfield presence: the ugly truth is somewhere in between. Let's face It: Spiral Corps is not in the same league with juggernaughts like say vanilla Ariadna. Not even close, mates, not even close... But SC infiltrators (Igao and especially Clipsos) are no joke, and Forward Deployment lvl2 is close to the real thing, and Draal ARE pretty terrifying for fireteams - the number one beating sticks in the game currently. (I am not sold on Greif Operators and Armand, but feel free to change my mind!)
2 Clipso and 2 Igao is never going to be a shoddy midfield, and you have 2 Kiutan and 3 Draal to match it. Spiral corps barely has to deploy in its DZ. I can't understand how the two units they didn't show are literally two of the worst units in the game. You're supposed to save good surprises, not trash ones.
Draal are looking pretty sweet, its a shame they dont get minelayer on the dazer profile Do you think its better than Vanilla? I like the Iago and get a lot of mileage out of one but they rarely dissuade people from bringing their forces into the midfield.
I feel like that's unfair to the Greif operators. They're inexpensive, they have gun fighting skills and they deploy well. what's not to like? How many Clipsos minelayers have you ever run? When you deploy your Clipsos is it always as HD or TO? In my experience careful use of under deploying Clipsos or double deploying minelayers can really mess with your opponents. With all the extra mine layers and the draal + impersonators I think Spiral has a lot to offer for that.
The Mimetism guys are outperformed by the Clipsos (and the Igao unit). The impersonator lacks the weapons to deal damage like the Imposters. I am not saying they are bad profiles, but SC has better profiles for the same job. And I just don't see a scenario where you would run out of the superior troopers' AVA and want even more mid-field troopers or impersonators.
Ever? Max camo spam so 8 tokens worth. But in an actual tournament 1 minelayer 2 forward observers is a fairly standard load out for supplies. Vanilla get almost all that spiral do but get libertos and krakots chucked in for good measure. So what do spiral bring to the table over Vanilla? Helots and tri-core.
The same thing that all sectorials bring over vanilla? More of some units and a few unique load outs.
Its pretty rare that the vanilla fireteams are arguably better than the sectoral though. At any rate, i'm sure plenty of people myself included will take them for a spin.
Not really because I can tell you're going to piss me off already so you got your opinion I think they're great and we'll just call it. I got better things to do then play into your argument game... Feel me... Just to elaborate on the post the reason you going to make me mad as I like to debate things with people not just say "Nomads are great. Spiral not as good" That's a caveman's argument... And I can already tell that trying to debate with you or discuss things with you won't go very far I've read your other post you posted since then and you got you don't have much to say bro and you're definitely not saying anything original that's why you're going to piss me off so exit stage left on this convo
The Igao is an unsung hero of Tohaa. He can kill pretty much anything he can get on top. Mimetism + MSV1 and BS11 is not gunfighting skills with a B3 weapon. BS12 and B4 feels good, but no one is taking a Bagh-Mari combis for their midfield. Dude if all you're going to do is ad hominem take it to the YJ forums.
