I haven't seen much talk about Spiral Corps recently elsewhere. It has been mostly eclipsed by the buffs the other factions are getting. Is anyone excited to play Spiral Corps? I have been fiddling around with it in Army but I haven't come across any combinations of units that seem to really synergize. It mostly feel like Tohaa without smoke or the best profiles and a bunch of mediocre merc stuff.

As a Tohaa player, I am mildly interested in some of the profiles that got added to Tohaa from Spiral Corps, but nothing is really a game changer. As a painter, I am definitely excited about the new miniatures. Since this is the big release for April and Adepticon, there's gotta be something to this that I don't understand yet. What's the appeal of Spiral Corps? What am I missing?

They can effectively have 2 5 man links. They have the best jammer in the game, and have really good aro coverage thanks to Helots.

I've occasionally struggled to write really godawful lists that I can use against beginner players but Spiral corps really alleviates that issue.

The Auxilia? No I think both the auxilia in the haris have to be the special 10 point version.

Thanks, this helps a lot. I definitely needed to pay more attention to the Kriigel's kit, and I don't mind that they saved his best profiles for Spiral.

What kinds of fireteam combinations are people using to take advantage of Tri-Core?

The cheapest one is pretty good. The special weapon ones are alright in theory I suppose.

The Taagma Viral Sniper holoprojected as something less threatening does look like fun. Brawler HRL in a 5-man is intimidating enough that I don't know if you're going to trick anyone by revealing it to be a Taagma instead.

I really don't see the appeal of any of the Brawler specialists. WIP 12 is such a turnoff. Assault hackers have such a low probability to actually hack anything that adding a 60% chance to even land the roll and paying 1SWC for the privilege seems like a waste of points to me. Not to mention that without a repeater net to speak of, a bunch of hackers hiding in the DZ to support a sniper aren't going to get a lot of opportunities.

Im not exactly into the bigger weapons profiles to be honest. But There is an argument to be made that they might be worth taking.

Doesn't really matter which Brawlers you take aside from the Doc.
The Brawler just has the benefit of being a 1 point upgrade over the filler and Sixth Sense Hackers have some utility. Sitting far back in a Sniper Link he is also fairly protected from KHDs and not much of a high value Target.

Pretending to be a HRL might result in someone dropping a Smoke to get past you, attempting to outrange the HRL or to take it out with a trooper utilizing Camo Mods/ODD:
Definitely on the expensive side as far as LI Core Links go, but with Shock Immunity I'd take the gamble. You also have the Smoke to utilize him in Active Turn later on if you want. He doesn't have to be deployed for turn 1 AROs.

These are all good points. If you have the SWC, you might as well go AHD for only 1pt more. It does make you appreciate the Rifle+LtShotgun tax. I wish there were a filler brawler with a cheaper loadout. I would be tempted to bring a Kumotail with some servants to serve as the Taagma doctor instead of a Brawler and just fill the core link with 16pt chumps.
I don't get these guys at all. 66-70 points to get +1 burst on a BS11 chump with no vis mods? Multiterrain on ARO pieces? Hard pass. Not to mention the dread of painting up more potato people.

Neema Saatar and either something cheap or a specialist.
Or a Taagma with MSV2 and viral sniper (posing as Neema).

    This.

The Tohaa stuff is very limited, we can't actually build very interesting triads and the faction is missing the most iconic and effective Tohaa units (Makauls, decent symbiont attackers, decent symbiont ARO). I'm kind of annoyed that really our "Tohaa" link options are like Neema, Aelis Keesan and the crappy engineer.

    Off the top of my head, the reasons to play Spiral Corps are;
    -Neema Tri Core
    -Infiltrator triad
    -The good impersonator profiles
-Five cheap chaff models (Helots, Diplomat+Warcor)
-Rasails and battlecats may have a good home here.

Everything else seems pretty rubbish. Half of the new units we got (Grief, Reex, Kiel-San) just overlap so damn much with other Tohaa stuff that I don't know why they bothered, and even in Spiral they don't feel necessary. Brawlers are not something I'm excited for in any faction that can have them. Rasails and Cats are nice, they are also nice in vanilla, though I feel there is an argument that they can play into Spirals chaff heavy strategies better than they can in vanilla. Spiral gets smoke/visor in a link, but its a BS12 no perks visor and we lack other more reliable long range options.

I'm going to give all of the listed stuff a go, but honestly not that excited aside from the helot chaff

Yeah, I was pretty excited at first but I'd honestly just rather play vanilla... Just more interesting links. I look at Dashat, and then I look at Spiral Corps and I'm like... Wtf, to me the power level seems (on the surface) far more in favor of Dashat and Foreign Company. While the phero tech is neat, you gotta get to the target to use it, and overall triad options are just blah. Definitely going to give it a try, but not loving it on paper...

I have to test it right I haven't played them but you know I have a go at what I think... and I'm definitely not speaking for this list to take me like 5 minutes to put together
I think that their power lies in board control guerilla hit and run tactics and fighting the enemy on your terms... if you stop and look at it you can really cover the board with lots of land mines drop bears smoke dazers LOS mods there's a lot of options there man dazers to stop people's movements cold. but I think people expect to see huge amounts of Firepower. I got complete control of the Midfield... or I'm shutting down your msv guys while I'm breaking your fire teams...
I think it's a more subtle Force and I think it's one of the ones you have to learn how to play a little bit... it's definitely not an "Easy Mode" force

@DustGod agreed. I don't have much tohaa experience so I decided to try it with the new box. I have primarily been playing OSS which has some heavy hitters and the proxies help it have a lot of staying power. Oss seems to me very straightforward while SC is not. Oh well. I'm going to keep building lists and start running some games. Not having an Asura to rely on for turn three Rambo + missions is going to be difficult.
