Well, and again another faction gets an HI way more interesting than ours... Meanwhile we get Liu Xing and Mowang, and if Mowang turns out to just be what was spoiled (Kriza redux), well... Wonder why I'm even surprised anymore, its pretty clear CB doesn't have a clue about what to do with YJ. Sucks even more to play Morats, anyway... Why this kind of great rework for MO and fuck all for the monkeys?
We don't know for sure what the rest of IA holds, or what other changes morats are getting. CB is definitely giving MO much better hype though. I'm still cautiously optimistic Shang Ji are going to get an insane overhaul and become the new yujing groan test unit.
Is that 300 point box coming out sooner than IA? Isn't the release date for IA next year? It's beginning to sound a bit like my kids complaining about Christmas in October....
To be honest, with Yan Huo, Zanshi, and Shang Ji all showing up in IA, I definitely wouldn't mind getting the "Securitate treatment" on a few of our more under-performing units. Another solution for our current mono-build issues would certainly be to take some of our worse options and make them more usable and there are certainly plenty that have been waiting quite a while for a proper update.
Without actually having any hard info, I think MO box is going to be in time for Christmas while IA starter is going to be in time for Chinese New Year
Dear lord, so much this. Look, I have a BBA. I have taken marketing classes, I know how it works, how it's supposed to work. I'm not very good at creating the ideas that generate excitement, but I can tell you flat out that I am excited by the idea of playing VIRD and MO now. And I hate PanO! I am not excited to play IA, which basically means that CB's marketing has not done it's job. It's apparently getting Wildcard and Tactical Sense (or whatever they're calling the skill that gives that model an additional order that the fireteam can spend if the TacSense model is the Team Leader for it). Not sure how many profiles are going to have TacSense, though. If it's a single profile, that's kinda meh, but if every profile is getting TacSense, that's potentially 16 orders in a 10-man combat group at 300pts: 4x TacSense Shang Ji, 1x Zuyong (character) NCO, 1x LT2, plus 2x Weibing and 2x 8pt bots.
One of our claims to fame is the Dao Fei, the other is the Su Jian. Well, the new KotHS looks close enough to the Dao Fei that I'm quite sure a Su Jian copy for PanO or Nomads (Hollows, anyone?) is coming soon. Wonder when are we getting our Cutter, Tikbalang, Uhlan, etc...
For you, certainly. On the other hand, I'm getting more and more interested. Of course, CB can't necessarily hit the ball out of all the parks at the same time. Maybe they're tackling the release schedule in chronological order?
Or simply the release schedule that works best for their plan to expand their game in a sustainable way. As you say, they can’t please everyone, so doing it their own way is likely the least bad strategy.
They aren't. IA has been done for a couple of years by now while all of the other new sectorials are notably younger. If you don't want to trust me on that, simply take the IA video and the remarks on NCA and LT2 (that is to say OSS is chronologically more younger than IA is). They've got a release schedule, but it ain't chronological.
To be fair, that only demonstrates that IA was being worked on at the same time that OSS was. I doubt CB only work on one project at a time, or that they finish each one in the order they started.
To kinda put this in perspective, Shas and MRRF has been in the 'what the hell are we going to do with these sectorials' development hell since about 2012. And MRRF is still there, while Shas have been re-imaged. I'm kinda expecting MRRF to show up about the same time as Haqq's Ramah Task Force, since they're using a lot of the same ideas (mech deploy infantry, etc). Well, I proposed an Uhlan-like S6 TAG for the Blue Wolf in the White Banner sectorial. Just with Holo2 instead of Camo, for a 'wolf pack' effect.
You're thinking of the Khanate which has the, as far we know, Kum, Halqa, and Hunzakuts. RTF is more about Haqq's super-soldiers.
Ha, well said. New units will affect vanilla Yu Jing, and ATM I'm actually looking the synergy of IA units in Vanilla. Zhencha, Mowang.. Whatever it takes to fill up our void. I would fancy some plausible CoC, if able, than fragile Pheasant - even a lite HI CoC would be nice. +1. Their approach about this long-waited new sectorial is definitely a load of mess. I'm not fond of this action, really. They could've done better, and they had to, after that massive disappointment of hype-ridden Uprising. And who can tell, Shang Ji became a real tactical unit! One more action will change something, if that momentum happens in the very thick of pitched battle or that dang button-run, it will be awesome to play with. Doubt it will be worth using TeamPro on Vanilla, but let's wait for it.
I don't feel we're going to get this, but that list is the dream, isn't it? Even if it had flaws, its short on specialists, etc, its something the opponent is considering when trying to build a list to fight Yu Jing. The HI sectorial of the HI faction, maybe they use some cheap filler to go multiple groups, maybe have some unique hyperexpensive units and only 10 orders to use them with, but maybe they've just got ten models, REMS and solid heavy infantry, with enough orders that you taking twenty cheap dudes is hardly an insurmountable advantage against them.
