Too bad! That could have been fun! IRl I was thinking of running a tournament with select random missions. A lot easier to do. I don't think I'd do it with the armory building but most others could be done.
The "Strategenhammer" tournament series in Munich offers a "hard mode" - a list for your chosen Faction/Sectorial done by the TO. Last time roughly half the participants chose that mode (you get a small reward though).
The nice thing about random missions is that generalist armies could do better. Right now, armies that have troops that have a narrow focus I think do better. For example, Nomads, Combined, and Haqqislam, have a specialist for pretty much any mission and do them really well. But Yu Jing, PanO, and O-12 are kind of generalist.
@TheDiceAbide and his group of gamers played and batrepped a fair number of random-list games in N3, if I recall correctly. Might be on his blog? Now that linkteams are easier to put together from varied troops, a random format might be even easier.
