I very rarely play SpecOps games, so I didnt check this out until now.
As @McNamara pointed out, we ONLY have the Brawler. But he comes with some interesting weapon choices like Viral Sniper, Spitfire, HMG, although no Multisniper.

I would go WIP15, Doc, Engineer, Viral Rifle, Mimentism for 18XP. Delivered by a Haris and the back up of Duo, that's a nice combo.

Why not something like this? That'll let any opponents cringe.

Thank you for the save! I went with BS13, WIP13, Doc, Minelayer,
Mimetism, and Viral Sniper. They should be a potent long-range Haris and I'll be sure to leave a bit with them to drop White Noise if necessary

EDIT: Multiple StarCo players and a late start saw me revert to a simple Bakunin list in the interest of time

I'm running Biotechvore tomorrow evening, I'm thinking the brawl in the middle is the perfect time to test out the pain train. The confused deployment rule is making me a bit sketch on using Raoul, I might swap him for a Spitfire Tsyklon and bump Massacre up to the combi rifle. Will update in the other thread after the game, what do you guys think?

I'd be cautious with AD Spector since you MUST make that PH-3 roll.

He's got AD: Combat Jump and not AD: Inferior Combat Jump.

It's a special rule of the mission, any deployment outside of the deployment zone (forward deployment, all levels of AD, Infiltration) must make a PH -3 roll or fail and end up in the deployment zone. The mission is pdf page 18
    https://assets.infinitythegame.net/downloads/itsrules/season9/en/v1.0/season9.pdf

I can nullify that with the hacker (controlled jump program) but I'm not wild about rolling ph13 just to walk him in on the side. If I blow that roll I'd have to waste at least 2 orders just to get him out of the biotech area thing. He looks like a disgustingly survivable annoyance unit though, and with 2 midfield docs I could probably keep him up.

The Tsyklon may be better for this mission. Faster, great area denial with 360 visor and suppressive fire, and the repeater. Downside is that my suicidal engineer will probably be dead by the time it goes down.

Another problem is my obvious lieutenant, but I figure HI with linked doc is plenty survivable, and by the time he drops the team should already be midfield so I can spend almost everyone's order to enter suppressive fire and hold ground.

Question: Is there a reason *NOT* to take Emily? She is incredibly lethal, a specialist, and adds some much needed durability with Chain of Command. I can't see myself not ever taking her.

Also, this: In a five man link, she's base: B3, WIP17 Forward Observer. If successful, the target enters the targeted state and she is then at BS19 (!) for Speculative Fire.

Outside of that, what are you guys doing for 2nd turn/defensive units. Coming from Bakunin, the absence of cheap mines is painfully noticeable. The Lunokhod is a great DZ protector, but Koalas don't work against camo like mines do. I believe they still work through smoke, though (?).

The obvious answer is a Reaktion Zond and a Brawler Sniper w/ a Chain Rifle Jag to throw smoke at their feet. Linked Riot Grrl ML is also great in defense.

I'm coming up blank for defense against superior infiltration and/or impersonation with smoke. I think StarCo is really vulnerable to that and I'm struggling with an answer.

    You guys?

Typically I find that Minelayers and Lunokhods work well for that, and StarCo has Lunokhods as an option. Also Warbands, of which Jaguars are noticeably good as they can Chain Rifle some douche when they are revealed.

Yeah, it just sucks that our minelayers cost 27pts each. Maybe do a fake-out with a Hardcase? Lol

Yeah Lunokhod, Jaguars or Massacre help against Impersonators and SupInfiltration.

And Emily is certainly a an attractive piece and a reason to play StarCo. Without her most lists come really close to Corregidor.

She isn't a auto-include though, since you f.e. AD Raoul can can take her place point wise and add another layer to your list, while she might just hang back and work as security.

Reasons to take StarCo over Corregidor seem to to be the HD+ option, Chain of Command and indeed Emily in general, Spector, the Al'Hawwa, Irmandhinos and Brawlers (cheaper MSV2 Sniper notably). Also if you want a MB team.

Personally I can see myself regularly taking Emily in an Alguacile link (probably HMG, two FOs and a rifle to be the LT maybe). It's just so good. Then a Brawler/Spector Haris with the MSV2 Sniper, and then probably a Camo troop or two, specialists, a REM for Uhahu, and Uhahu herself.

One thing I do wish for is a better KHD than the Bandit. Just kind of expensive for WIP 12, really. Rather have a FO for cheapness.

Yeah, it doesn't help that the Bandit is irregular and can't be a cheerleader like the cheaper Zero. That being said, 25pts isn't the worst.

Personally, I lean toward Uhahu and an Al Hawwa AHD or an EVO. If someone wants to murder Uhahu, they can -- there's really no stopping it with our hacking options. If she survives into your active turn, then she can cybermask. The AHD rounds out our anti-TAG/HI suite, while the EVO plays nicely into our heavy use of fireteams, good AD options, and also the use of REMs to supplement our mediocre defense. B2 Flashpulse on the Transductor isn't awful.

This goes both ways though: Tomcats, Intruder, McMurrogh and Iguana are strong points for CJC.
I guess what it comes down to though is if you want Intruders and link boosted Smoke Grenades or HD+, linked EM grenades and HI links with Doctors. Everything else can be done in one way or the other with both.
And yeah this actually means Emily and Uhahuh are one of the main selling points of StarCo vs. CJC.

30-35 points cost, 1W, no (bio-) shock immunity. Also instead of Emily one could get :
[IMG] ALGUACIL Combi Rifle + Light Grenade Launcher / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 14)
[IMG] ALGUACIL (Forward Observer, Deployable Repeater) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12)
[IMG] ALGUACIL Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 10)
    1 SWC | 36 Points
That's two orders more to use with only minor discards in BS or WIP

Bandits are really good but they were carefully designed to be really good for Combat and subpar for support. It makes them different than what a lot of people use SK for. But they're SO GOOD. I do take the KHD but he can't take on multiple hackers at once so depending on repeaters it can end up being a liability.

Well placed Jaguars and Lunakhods are the way to go. Depending on how you link a CSU does a really good job with her little Nanopulsar. Personally I'm used to have a DTW on all troops but my SWC weapons in Corregidor so I'll need to keep in mind adding protection.

Emily is really good especially the linked GL. But she isn't incredible.

Spector is really good but AD BSG all have something in common. Without a Token State to get around things they get torn apart a lot. That's why I think the Hellcat is one of the best AD BSG in the game.

Anyways I noticed something today that I am going to capitalize on immediately.

Oh absolutely. Intruders, Tomcats and Morans are in every CJC list I take, and for good reason. I definitely feel that CJC are not diluted by StarCo. It's almost the third Nomad Sectoral with some unusual mercs and foreign faction troops in it, which is cool. Like if you play Nomads (and I do, and Haqq), then it's a funky new way of using your stuff, an that's all it needs to be. But taking stuff like my Al'Hawwa and Emily will be great. And it's probably the best MB fireteam option.

Also, while we're on strengths and weaknesses, it's the third Sectoral that can do White Noise and the only Sectoral that can do smoke+MSV and White Noise.

The MB Pain Train Lite makes for a particularly lethal hunting link. Massacre provides smoke, E/M grenades, and CC capabilities, and the Daktari gives you a specialist and a some healing ability if you can keep her alive.

Well, I had a game against Vanilla Combined with a Speculo.
Even though my deployment was "ideal", she ended up taking out an MB Hacker and MB with tinbot.
I used a Jaguar to guard the MB special core and another Jaguar was hanging out closely to a Brawler Harris with Sniper and LT.
This was quite lucky, the Speculo could have easily taken out the Brawler LT.
I fail to come up with an answer to this aside from even more Jaguars and hiding stuff really well (we played on a rather open table so that wasn't really possible).
But honestly, I can't really think of many lists of any faction that would feel safe against impersonation or sup. infiltration. If they get first turn, it will always hurt.
