The hell is PARA CCW (-3) though? Mechanically looks like chest mines, but what's PARA? A leftover from Spanish PARALIZAR supposedly standing in for STUN? Or something new? And he's a Specialist! :o
YJ is again great in CC, it seems, even if for now it's mostly characters. I wonder how CC in general will change; it seems that CB introduces more ways of modifying the rolls. It also seems to me that it's supposed to be deadly as hell, at least against a dedicated CC combatant.
I can't find the 'schedule' that they posted showing the breakdown for Code One for 2020 again. Anyone got it handy?
Btw. did anyone noticed absolute lack of "Stealth" skill on all profiles ? I wonder if it is only C1 "feature" or will it also transision to N4.
I am really liking the asymmetrical nature of Operation Kaldstrom: PanO has more units with great BS, a powerful CC unit, a doctor, and a MSV that can see through all of Yujing's camo. Yujing has more Camo (3 camo units!), a sniper, and heavy flamethrower (which is great on the small mat); It will be a interesting match for players using the set. Pano will most likely have to lean on their doctor to win.
Both factions seem to have good CC units, but YJ's is the most powerful, while PanO has some ability here and there. KoJ and Gunnar should be able to bully most other troops in CC, but Adil will demolish anything he gets into BtB with, and it's best to deal with him the Indiana Jones way. It also seems that PanO has an edge when it comes to mobility; more FD/Infiltration, Character with C+
Zanshis, Guilang and the Daofei got an upgrade in CC. While the +1 for Zanshis is more a justification for the one point over a Fusilier than anything else, the +3 for the Daofei isnt that bad. I suppose almost if not all of Yu Jings troops with lower CC values get a bit more to make Yu Jing look like the CC faction again.
Skills still seem stupidly cheaper than stats in Code One, everything without negative modifiers or marker just seem outright worse than equivalent-price units with them. The Knight of Justice and Nokken compare dreadfully with their opposite numbers unless I'm missing something. I'm starting to wonder if CB actually playtested Kaldstrom at all, or even pulled out a calculator.
One thing I have to add, is how much I dislike the new naming of skills. Yes it is better understandable, but it takes so much flavour and immersiveness out of the game, when I read Dodge (+3), Dodge (+1"), CC (-3) instead of Hyperdynamics, Kinematika and I-Khol. But I also never saw nested skills as such a problem, especially since summarising sub categories into less categories usually is the way for alot of people to learn stuff. The bigger problems were the unclear interactions between rules and where to find them. But in the end, I guess the majority likes the change and its not that bad for me, just will miss the flavour.
Bostria said that Stealth won't be in C1 during the tournament video where he showed how TO was being split apart.
I think there's a good chance that those are the C1 names of the skills, and come N4 we'll have the flavoursome names back.
