On the Bolter&Chainsword? If the art exists, there will be a thread for it. Well, at least for any Power-Armored types (Astartes, Chaos, or Sisters of Battle, maybe Custodes/Janitors), the B&C is power-armor-only, no Xenos or Guard allowed.
I've been visiting the site for years now and I do understand that it focuses on the power-armored factions. There are other site that focus on the other factions as well. Also I added an extra pic in my last post. I think it would be worth it to check it out.
I do too. It is quite a quintessential picture of Humanity on the battlefield of the 40k future. I wish it was the Imperial Fists or another chapter instead of the Dark Angels. Never liked those guys at all. Fists, Ravens, Scars, Salamanders, even Iron Hands would be preferable. The Ultramarines, Wolves are over used and while I do like the Dark Angels & Blood Angels icons for conversions most of the Chapters themselves are underwhelming. There are a few gems in the Ultra & Blood offspring (Lamenters for example) but most are my cup of tea. I'm more drawn to the lesser used chapters though the Emperor's Canaries hold a special place out of the loyalists. There are just so many different Chapters, Guard Regiments that you are bound to have a couple that you like or are inspirations for you to create your own force. The same goes for other factions like Tau Septs & Ork Klans. I hope to at least finish my plans to create small "hobby" or fluff forces for the factions of my Kolrane Circle system. That was the first spark that got me into this hobby and I want to at least see the idea through to the end.
Bit of a necropost, but there was a reason why Striking Scorpions, Banshees, etc weren't in at the start. Aside from the obligatory "iT wAs fOr mOrE mOnEy!" nonsense, they're releasing a book soon-ish(final date TBA) that details "Elite" units like Terminators, Ogryn, the specialist Aspects, Wraith units, etc.
They've added HQs and are now adding Elites. I'm sure most infantry will be playable by the end of the year.
Minor nitpick(sorry!), but they didn't add "HQs" with the Commanders expansion--it was characters in general. The feedback has been kind of mixed. They really aren't necessary for playing, it's just nice to have the option in some cases but you wouldn't know it from the way some people have carried on. Most of the characters added are Elite choices, but there's definitely some HQs in there.
The biggest issue that my local group had with the Commander book was that in order to play certain characters, such as the Broodlord, you needed to bump things up to 200ish points and even then it was more a game of Predator (which is fun just not what we signed up for) I am looking forward to the Elites book though I want to bring my Bullgryn to play, and my Haemonculus Coven. I'm also eager to see what if any changes where made to Custodes as a buddy of mine and i played them for funzies prior and 150 points of Drukhari bounced off of them like summer rain.
Yeah, that's why some of the various Commander boxes(not getting into the price nonsense on those--wasn't great to say the least, but it's why they changed tact for the GSC and AdMech's KT boxes) actually had a mission that was basically just a game of Predator. :P I'd assume it's going to treat some of their abilities as Stratagems for one thing.
Thats a thing of the past. Since last year all 40k armies / races are more or less welcome. As all forums B&C struggeld to keep users or get new ones so they decided to make it an all 40k forum. I think its a good move as the B&C forum is one of the best and friendliest 40k communities i know.
So forums that originally focused mostly on single factions such as Advanced Tau Tactics are doing the same then. Glad to hear those old forums are still around these days. I might have to visit them again and see what has changed over the years.
@Golem2God I can only talk about B&C as im not much of an alien player myself and dont visit much other forums as most are a bit to unfriendly for my taste.
Does anyone else see some resemblance of playstyle between the Tau & PanO? Both armies are shooting kings, have battlesuits galore compared to the other factions of their wargames. Leveraging their firepower to win the day while their specialist grab objectives. A shared sense of having a superior society with multiple cultures under it's banner. I might be grasping at straws here but I see a few similarities. What do you forum members think?
Nah, One relies on alien auxiliaries, has an over-inflated sense of importance in the Galaxy, has less advanced tech than they think, and the other is the Tau. (Seriously though, maybe. They're also both blue...)
All are very good points. Sounds like the Tohaa are more in line with the Tau's "Greater Good". Since it still means that the higher ups of the government (visible & invisible) control the populous in a subtle manner. While the other species that fight for them are handicapped in some way to prevent revolt. Spoiler: Guardsman vs Kroot
The connection came form playstyle and not lorewise. I was thinking of which faction of 40k players would have a similar Infinity "transition" faction/sectorial. Like how Morats seem to be the best sectorial for a Space Marine to try/transition or get his/her feet wet into Infinity.
