Why do you think the HRL wouldn't be popular? A linked super-jumping HRL that also puts out a scary ARO seems really good!
I don't think Khawarij are a great ARO piece, because they die so easily. I am super excited to jump around blasting fools, but I have a feeling RTF will be short on SWC. Another thing I've often thought about, is that jumping up to shoot with the HRL isn't really a great play. You're out of cover with a squishy unit, and liable to lose a moderately expensive piece. Now, if we're talking about opportunistic situations? The HRL with super-jump is scary as hell. You're opponents will likely get caught out in a "safe place" and remain terrified forevermore. Edit: Another reason why some may decide not to take the piece. As I've said elsewhere, I enjoy being very aggressive with Khawarij and could see myself in a lot of situations where I'll be in unfavorable range-bands with with an HRL.
Eh, for me, the HRL is in a tough spot. MSV on the MK12 is probably going to be the go-to as far as options go. The HRL can't operate as well on it's own compared to the spitfire. As far as ARO goes I'm not sure the Khawarij will be the best pick, linked Zhayedan with the sniper rifle will be crazy strong and cost effective. I suppose what it really hinges on is if they're going to give the HRL Fatality 2.
I think they were trying to copy the Zhayaden pose without fully copying it...the half copy is not great though. Looks like an unnatural pose. I would have been fine with a full dynamic copy. I am still going to use him though. All I want now is the Tarik, MK12, Doctor Plus haris if thats going to be a thing. Please make it a thing!
I agree that the HRL isn't ideal on its own, but I can see a real use in a link team to either a) provide a strong ARO to help avoid getting pinned down or b) help clear out clustered or hunkered down, heavy ARM models. The core of the link is probably a Doc+, Rifle + LSG, BSG, and Mk12 + MSV. Adding an HRL could add some real versatility. Edit: Also, the more I think about it, the less I want options to link with Tarik. He's a strong Rambo on his own and the link would slow him down. Instead I like the idea of him attacking one flank alone while a Haris attacks the other.
I really like their poses. To me they convey a sense of tension, like they're just about to spring into action.
I look at these guys a lot like the Kamau. I was kind of hyped for the HRL Kamau – but in reality I honestly haven't used him once. The MSR and the HMG are just so much more focused options, they're tough to contend with. Even against high ARM foes, dice + FAT crits will probably carry you further than a template. But that's just my opinion, If you dig the HRL than thats cool. another factor to consider is the amount of HMGs in the faction and the ability to touch something beyond that 24" band and how easy it is to fit that into a list.
30% chance of success is getting to the point where I would consider the shot. It's still not great odds, but it's not bad enough to be an automatic HELL NO. The real problem is as @ambisinister says: There's no counter, no way to break it. Infinity is all about stacking the mods in your favor, and preventing your opponent from stacking mods on you. Fatality L2 (and Symbiomates) don't do that, therefore they aren't good rules to have. Because I had to go all the way to BoW to see the damn picture: They aren't bad, but I agree with @vorthain that it would have been nice if at least one of them had been modeled as if jumping. I think @Magno had been hand-sculpting a Khawarij jumping or landing, but that was like 2012. I do really like that those appear to be 4 unique sculpts, not two bodies each with two arm sets.
Upon inspection, the models appear to use only two sets of legs. (Maybe even one, but the angle makes it difficult to tell). ... That some folks can't seem to stay on topic.
I'd say there are two sets of legs, and perhaps even two bodies (HRL seems to share the same as BSG). That being said, the way they are composed with individual arms and heads makes a very, very good job at making them pretend to be 4 unique sculpts. As I (think) said already, I like them. As for people not staying on topic... please. You need two sides to have an argument, don't you? Just let them be. Have a mint tea instead :)
You need two sides for it to be an argument, but the argument doesn't need to happen, or happen here :) It has been raked over the same coals with no knew enlightenment. The funny thing is that it's mostly a bunch of folks who show up all over the forums complaining. Its high time they move along to the next thread. I know they'll never actually stop. I think this is a pretty accurate statement, and it makes me really excited to see if we get any more new sculpts this year. Part of me thinks we're getting a little spoiled, so I'm just happy with these four.
Corvus Belli seems to do this a lot, and they're really good at it. I think it's pretty cool, actually, and a clever way to stretch their resources.
The "box of 2x2 bodies with different arms/heads" goes back pretty much to the start of time. It's unusual when they don't do it.
I'm very curious to see how the models will come out of the box in terms of parts. I'm assuming arms, heads, backpacks, bodies/legs, swords, and maybe the bottoms of the coats.
There was a few models that fit together extremely simply. Was it the outrage box? And maybe the new asawira? That was really nice. Not necessarily for conversion work, but just for basic assembly. Maybe these guys will be the same?
Yes, the outrage models had unusual parts (like legs and front of chest separate from arms and back), but went together beautifully. Whoever did the splitting-for-casting on those needs a raise, and then more of the same work. In comparison, the Daiyokai was awful, some huge gaps that you don't have any choice but to fill or ignore because you can't untwist the parts.
By looking at them it seems they are all different from each other. If you look at the capes none match.
The coat tails are likely separate, there are definitely only two leg poses though, the BSG and HRL both have the same half crouch. Not a bad thing, it's an awesome looking box
