I have no special knowledge about Devas in NCA.

They're not listed in the PDF unit notes as being specific to OperationS or ALEPH, so presumably they'll make their way to NCA once TAK and operations are a bit more bug-free in Army.

tbh I've be more happy with a lt.2 profile on the hmg aquila. now that'd be the stuff of dreams. It would certainly justify the use of bolts.

or an aquila bolt haris, i'd take that too.

You know what I'd love to see on Aquila? Advanced Command (and other C&C skills, but let's not be too greedy).

For sure, I agree that Advanced Command is an excellent fit for the Aquila.

There's no doubt that some kind of leadership-based ability would be thematic for the Aquila, as opposed to the current situation which is simply "TO Camo or MSV3, which would you rather have."

I have to wonder about something like LT L2 on an HMG profile. Giving the Aquila 2 "free" Orders per turn over the Swiss would be a very nice differential niche. Some players might even consider using Bolts, just to offset the Loss of Lieutenant risk.

Well, maybe we'll see some changes in November. Time will tell.

Asura's case shows that CB can get pretty creative when it comes to boosting an unpopular unit.

As the guy who started the Knights of montesa thread a few days ago, this makes me so sad.

    Alas, that it is true.

With the full OSS drop I feel that the hacking gap is widening further from Pano. I hope it gets addressed in November. Right now we have several hacking options that may as well stay home with the proliferation of KHD and upgrade programs like maestro and lightning. But I also am beginning to feel they need to revamp hacking to tone down KHD so AHDs can come back to the table and play a role. The mod game is becoming an issue when programs to annihilate hacking out of the game are a 6 point shift and the best counter to it outside of themselves is a 3. I feel as though the proliferation of these two programs is pushing hacking out of the game into a buffing role and push buttons when possible rather than manipulating the battlefield.

Why does it feel like TAK can deploy an unreasonable amount of firepower without the specialist limitations NCA has? BS is still low sure some of those profiles are pretty amazing. But, I don't play Ariadna so I don't understand the context of those profiles so probably just reading into it. The vet kazak still seems pretty bullshit to me though...

I felt a bit like that with US Ariadna as well I guess. They just seemed to have more destructive weapons than me (I have eaten many rockets in my time). But I guess looking at the performance of the lists overall, once you take out their key killers, the remaining BS11 threats aren't too much hassle. I guess the same will be true of TAK and their low BS, atek troops. I've taken out USA HI's with humble grenades which I find unthinkable with my SG.
Ultimately PanO will be just as viable as before I guess.

Just the sticker shock of seeing these individual profiles is quite jarring.

I’m still ciphering though TAK but US is pretty basic in comparison. It has a lot of fairly standard infinity unit tropes with minor tweaks and the big thing about the faction is that it’s base line is just tough. The new season has been a great boon to them affecting 4 of their units two of which are fireteams.

Grunts get cheap swc but are slow and until ssnX had to walk out their link. Rosie was a great addition. Minutemen get you a cheap AP hmg in link but they’re only 1 wound arm 3 HI making them quite fragile for their cost. Mavericks have a molotok that is distinctly not cheap at 2 swc on bs 12. Even with FD on it and the bike speed, it’s quite an investment. Marauders being FD2 is quite interesting being dogged and linkable all but they’re fairly priced except for the 1 swc haris. Blackjacks are solid but hardly overwhelming. After losing a wound they become considerably worse offsetting their cheap price.

The only real surprise they get is a little camo play and Van Zant. I don’t think they’re really a powerhouse as far as heavy weaponry goes because their cheap stuff is on really low BS grunts which can cause headache or be a pushover depending on dice rolls.

Sensors and XVisor, yes, but sixth sense is training/experience.

And PanO prefers tech over skills.

I'm not seeing any in a quick check, but there are infiltrators TO B3 and Camo B4.

Yes. Some flavor of "graduate of the highest-rated strategic academies" would be very nice.

And would further differentiate them from Hsien.

Because they can deploy a hell of a lot of firepower without the limitations of NCA?

And the veteran kazak has always been epic bullshit, ever since N1. Now they're even more bullshit with that Wildcard link ability.

I don't think you can have a professional military without proper training. Also sixth sense can be just a bunch of sensors. Fluffwise TAGs are full of them, and since any high-tech soldier has HUDs and stuff, I don't think it's far off from normal troopers either.

I actually think TAK and NCA are pretty equivalent, with similar playstyles in many ways.

    • Hidden Deployment and mass DZ camo are very comparable.
    • Both are operating around BS15 with a -3 modifier, on average. Some units are better than this curve (linked Vet Kazak, Swiss) or slightly worse (Fusiliers link @ BS15 vs Strelok at BS11 with Camo) but I see a lot of counterparts.
    • Secure DZs. Both factions secure their DZs with strong defense and rely more on forcing their way up the field. Their midfield presence is minimal unless they want to pay for it.
    • TAK has an edge in smoke, but NCA had an edge in quality of cheerleaders. Muls and Line Kazaks are cheaper, but Fusiliers/Auxilia/CSUs/Fugazi are more versatile. But in both cases, the cheaper units are crucial glue for letting the star gunfighters function at maximum effectiveness.
I really like that both forces feel like standing armies. They're marching out from a secure DZ, relying mostly ok fitepower with tricks that only serve to protect their line and help leverage that firepower. I'm hoping to have a straight fight beteen these two soon. I think their both excellent examples of form and function combining for unique Sectorials.

If an update can cement the Aquila as a viable LT candidate, with good Bolt framework to support, I think that's a big step for our internal balance too. If I could get a Bolt Haris with Spitfire for 2 SWC, with an Aquila HMG LT, I'd consider trying it instead THE list that I have relied on for most of N3.

The best solution for Bolts is to give Drop Bears to the basic profile, ditch the extra pointed profile and balance out from there.

I'm not especially worried about any of those. If someone wants to pay 31 points for a Burst 2 Ojotnik, or buy themselves a BS11 SMG, I'm glad they're not spending it on an HMG instead. Scouts/infiltrating characters/Streloks feel mild compared to Vet Kazaks, Irmandinhos and Spetsnaz. All those infiltrating units have their place, but I definitely wouldn't build a TAK list around infiltrators in the same way that Vanilla Ariadna does.

Given how few troops have Sixth Sense natively, and how it takes 4+ brains processing the tactical picture (if not literal years of working together) to give a fireteam 6SL1, there's more than just basic professional military training required to give you Sixth Sense in any level.

I don't think any TAG has Sixth Sense, despite being covered in sensors.

So Sensors and Visors, yes; Sixth Sense, no.

Unless you are some corp security officer.

Then you get SS1 cheap as chips plus some nice gadgets (which you can sudo chose!) ;P

Yep, TAGs definetaly cannot fit set of sensors etc. to get SS ^^
