Gosh! more than 1/3 of the list on 3 wounds that aim to advance to the middle of the table... so unappealing even for LI. I mainly use 3 pheasant options as individual miniatures. The BS profile when I desperately need a "cheap" CoC The madtraps version is my favourite but if find it hard to fit inside lists The Redfury when I have SWCs to spare. Os a good last resource speciallist, and can perform quite well even during turn 2 if you play it with care. The hacker hardly sees some table (the zhanying is superior as specialist, ignores stealth and has D-charges). Similar for the Sniper one (I've only find it usefull with a table full of saturation zones due to marksmanship X) Stun grenade profile is simply a waste I'd rather use the madtraps one or the BS one.
Agree with all of this. I really, really rate stun grenades as a weapon, but at PH10 its really just a no-go.
In a faction with excellent Sniffer coverage, a Sat-locked target makes for fun speculative Grenade throwing, tho... especially as the template doesnt need to be centred on the target. Maybe just the trick to delete hiding fireteams...
Madtrap Pheasant is a phenomenal CoC caddy for a Hsien Lt for an 11 Order rampage. Zhanjing are problematic, their kit is expensive and it doesn't do anything you can't achieve by different means. The Madtrap Zhanjing in a Wu Ming Core is an exception. Securing your midfield HI Link through Perimeter weapons is pretty valueable. Haris options for both are usually better discarded for more Orders and a large second group for another attack piece.
These units have a lot of flavour, and some great models. It's a fun challenge to build a list around them, and very thematic. I like that about them. Over priced. Pheasants especially, and zhanying too. But, I can't say I dislike them. I like the zhanying + hsien hmg LT haris, with a pheasant CoC, and core kuang shi link.
Someday, I’m going to try a Pheasant with Mad Traps standing next to a Baggage bot that just keep handing them out to him! lol
