Hi. Need some assistance. Played a game and wanted to heal a HI Invincible from 1 wound back to 2 wounds but was unable to find a rule or process on how. A medkit / paramedic heals from unconscious only. A doctor makes it more successful? or does a doc heal wounds also ? thanks for the advice.
You can not heal a model from 1 Wound back to 2 Wounds by the use of Paramedic, Doctor nor Medkit. A model with the Regeneration special skill can attempt to regenerate from 1 Wound back to 2 Wounds. But such troops are rare.
Only troops with Structure can be "healed" before reaching the unconscious state. You only can use your medikit or doctor roll with unconscious troops or in No Wound Incapacitation state
Thanks. Seems weird for a future setting that you can’t heal 1 wound extra. Is there history / lore in this that shows why in the game ?
I think the idea is that 2-wound troopers have power armor. The first wound is the armor, the second wound is the squishy person inside. But it's not a perfect representation - doesn't explain why an engineer can't heal the first wound, or how a Janissary doctor can heal both wounds.
You can bring back from 0 to 2 wounds with Parvatii But the target of the Doctor/Paramedic skill is always an Unconscious ally
I'll hazard that the majority of troops that have more than one wound don't have it because they are extra buff, but because they tend to be in armor. So the medical attention only fixes the meat part.
I'd assume that in real terms, it is a difference between a trooper who's wounded so seriously he's effectively out of action ("unconscious" state in game terms) - but can be brought back into action by a medic - and one who is still able to act more or less effectively (not "uncosncious"). "Dead" state doesn't have to necessary mean literal death (though we assume so, for the convenience of in-game interaction, like area-effect attacke) - it may as well mean a trooper who is so crippled no field medic can make him combat-effective again (but some hospital time - especially given Infinity-era resources - could). Remember also that a Doctor or Paramedic doesn't spend hours or minutes trying to save a patient during a game - they just run to him and go for a quick fix. A few moments. Apply a wound dressing, a shot of stimulant drugs, maybe splint an arm or leg, and move on. If that is enough to make a trooper combat-effective again (successful Doctor / Medkit roll), great. If not - note that you can't spend extra Orders* on trying again: that trooper is simply beyond help of combat medicine. Then there are models with extra Wounds, or extra pseudo-Wounds (as the forum community calls these 1 Wound, No Woind Incapacipation, Shock Immunity setups). Mostly - Heavy Infantry of various sort, wearing powered armors. They aren't beefier per se - they can (thanks to armor and its built-in medical systems) withstand more abuse than a normal human (or Morat / Shasvasti / Tohaa / whatever). * You can spend Command tokens. If the model has Cube. I still don't know what it is meant to represent.
Cubes monitor your overall health and body condition, by tapping into a cube a doctor can essentially get remote assistance from other doctors and surgeons not on the battlefield.
Also having a Cube means you have a network of Silk throughout your body that nanotech-based drugs can hitch a ride on to work more effectively.
