I've been toying with the idea of making a third table of terrain, and want to leverage it so its Bushido friendly (GCT games). I'm thinking of having walled 2x2 historic area with historic japanese buildings, inside a yu-jing urban area. This way I have a can pull out the historic stuff and use it for bushido. I've got a zuzzy mat I'm willing to cut up to make 2x2 mats and other pieces such as roads and paths. I've already got some river/water pieces I can use, to make it an interesting parkish area.

I hear the scale of most historical Japaneses building on the market are a little off for infinity. Does anyone have any photos with infinity models I can look at. I'm looking at starting with MAS Kokkyo series. I like the walls and shrines for the historic site, but can use a couple other building to flush out the historic site. The other buildings in the bundle look like a good set to start that 'modern' yu-jing area.

I'm specifically looking to avoid pre-painted since I want to make the colors consistent per area. So no Platics craft.

Rules wise I'm also looking at making a couple of 'Shaded areas' to put in the historic site. Each area will have a large tree trunk. The shaded area represents an area where there is a tree that blocks all LOS above the height of the walls. Having a simple rule to apply. If LOS ever goes above 4 inches (either end) and touches a shaded area the LOS is Blocked. I don't want the historic area to be a snipers feeding ground. I was contemplating the idea of total tree coverage (objective room rule, there the wall shave infinite height), but I like the idea that there are some LOS into the area, but not completely open.

If you're going bushido-looking, and in a post Uprising Infinity, I would use that opportunity to make the terrain in one of the new JSA territories. It won't change a ton in terms of look, but in term of lore, it would make a lot of sense (especially in a game where you have Yu Jing infiltrate those traitorous japanese!).

I realize it may not help you too well for the scale but as I don't exactly have deep knowledge of what's on the market..... For the shaded area, might I suggest a shrine in a bamboo forest?

Depending on the full size of the map, that could be a bit much though.

I like the forbidden palace kit. I wasn't looking for giant piece, but like how you can make a couple smaller buildings. I just need to check the wall costs. If I want to circle the entire historic area I need 96 inches of walls.

The MAS is arround 36 inches a set, while the forbidden palace is 40. I can probably live with 80 inches total and use a table edge or other buildings to close it up. I do prefer the corners of the MAS units but it's not that big of a deal.

The historic and urban areas don't need to full match sice it's it's sud to be a pocket tranquility in an urban jungle.

As for trees. I'm specifically trying to avoid actual trees. They tend to be top heavy and not storage friendly. Also the fuzzy nature opens room for intreptation which lead to mid game arguments. I may use bamboo as scatter, but really want to avoid generic forest areas, which is why I want large tree trunks as blocking with shaded area for LOS affect.

Sarissa Precision has an excellent range of far east and Japanese terrain, it's nominally 28mm but so is their Sci-fi range which works fine for Infinity. Terrain tends to be scaled "too large" for playability purposes.
