Right, so he's not quite as far along that learning journey as I had assumed. One thing you might want to suggest is just practicing deployment, it's an often under-rated skill. With Saladin you are always 100% of the time going to outdeploy him, even if he makes you deploy first. This makes his deployment game even more important, and if you help him by letting him set up, pointing out weaknesses and then trying again a few times this will make a big difference quickly. Yeah, Hidden Deployment Multi-Snipers are one of the joys of the game, but this one is costing him a first turn order and I can't help but think that might be making him drop it too soon in some cases. More orders and the ability to shift that surprise into a second combat group (where it's harder to see coming) will only make it more effective. It can be a beast, but your opponent has 0 of the things needed to support it. I'd suggest that he needs a LOT more of the "bottom end" of PanOceania before he even looks at putting a TAG onto the table. Otherwise it's just another expensive thing he doesn't have the orders or support to use well.
All good call-outs! I'll definitely be passing them along. We'll try that deployment exercise as well.
Heheh, you're talking to them. @theGricks and I are both part of the Swords of the Prophet; and I was a member of Haqqislam High Council two years in a row. @AdmiralJCJF, or The Admiral, as we like to call him is our Counterpart in PanO, and a powerful opponent in the Roleplaying Arena.
Honest opinion ? Never played a Dragao, but I much more prefer Swiss HMG due to much lower cost, no option for enemy to snipe him turn one (due to Hidden Deployment), amazing defensive capabilities of Marker State and fact you can get on good position and not egage into firefights if you dont have to. What's going for Dragao is that 5 dices of "HRMC" with AP/Shock is really great weapon against Haqq, as it insta kills all Ghazi and other "Dogged" chaff, which sometimes is really annoying if left breathing still threateting you with this Panzerfasut/Jammer/EMauler shot. Dragao trades the mobility of Swiss Guard for much better shooting power and additional wound (he's also a speciliast so thats nice for him). Also if your friend plays Vanilla he can take a Swiss Guard ML as dedicated ARO piece which will be very hard to kill for Fiday turn 1 simply because your Fiday won't know where the Swiss is hiding :) If your opponent plays it right and won't drop Swiss ML to ARO too soon (or while being to close to Fiday) haqq should have really hard time removing TO HI in cover :) (unless you are able to run close with Ghazi and EMarat him)
Those Swiss Guard sound absolutely awesome! @eciu My buddy was checking out this thread last night and was getting really stoked on all the excellent advice. I can’t wait until the next time we get a game in! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It was community decision. People nominated folks who were active and known names to be the High Council. About 12-15 people or so were nominated, and the three who had the most votes were put up as high council while the rest were retained as Swords of the Prophets to aid the high council when needed or provide feedback/ideas. A Council for the Council. After that initial nomination/vote we all began pulling in the members of the community we saw being active/helpful and obviously not a spy for another faction. So essentially, be active, be helpful, be good (not in the game sense but like...a good person) and it is pretty probable you will be nominated come global campaign or at least one of the first few pulled into the Swords. Trust me you don't even need games to be nominated, or be good. We had one sword who I don't think had a single game but was a wealth of knowledge and valuable feedback. Haqqislam values knowledge, dedication, and friendliness, more than we value battle field capabilities.
Thanks @theGricks Did we have to have 9 swords of the prophet, like the actual 9 swords? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
@oldGregg No, it was simply the term used to denote dedicated Haqqislam players who fought for the cause and could be trusted.
Well, it’s the thought that counts, I suppose. I’m looking forward to the event this year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Happy to help :) Just another small tip for your friend: last time I've played Swiss (though it was NCA so I had auxilia and a lot of orders) I DID NOT leave HD with Swiss untill I KILLED ALL GHAZI ;P Be human for him, drop a ghazi or two :P Your friend can also start using Krakot Renegades in Vanilla as cheap&efficient way of clearing WB ;) They don't care about jammer not Emauler, and usually should kill Ghazi effectively :) (again, I'm rather passionate in my personal hate against those units, so some of my opinions might be biased xD)
I’ve had my eye on renegades as well. They seem really good. Speaking of units to get, I’m thinking of Odalisques, Asawira, or the Ghulam SWC box... I will eventually get all of the above, but what is the most fun to play with? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Btw. this lists seems like quite a fun in all "control zone" missions: PanOceania ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 8 2 1 SPEC. SERGEANT (CH: TO Camouflage, Infiltration, Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 27) HEXA MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (1.5 | 32) CROC MAN (Forward Observer, Deployable Repeater) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 32) CROC MAN Hacker (Assault Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 36) SWISS GUARD HMG / Pistol, AP CCW. (2 | 68) JOAN OF ARC Lieutenant MULTI Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, DA CCW. (+1 | 50) WARCOR (Aerocam) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3) TECH-BEE (Remote Assistant Level 1, Specialist Operative) Flash Pulse / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 5) LOCUST Boarding Shotgun, Grenades, Drop Bears / Pistol, Shock CCW, Knife. (0 | 30) KRAKOT RENEGADE 2 Submachine Guns, Chest Mine / Pistol, Shock CC Weapon. (0 | 17) 5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army The idea of this list is to stick all TO guys on top of buildings/difficult to reach positions so that enemy must spend several orders to dig them out. All that while risking sudden shot from hidden Hexa MSR or expesing themself to Swiss HMG or Joan MR. Swiss or Joan should be moving around edges of zones to tip points in your favor whenever enemy puts to much stuff into one of them. Also Joan "free" coordinated order every turn is great for multiple skirmisher allowing them to really mine the field and them re-camo at the end of turn :) Good player would even fit a Cutter instead of Swiss there ;D
Call in sick; or pray that in the pairings, that list gets thrown to someone else? But seriously, This is a very powerful list, against which the Slicing the Pie Stratery can help with survivability. Create a smoke screen from the extra AROs and deal with them one at a time. The big problem with TO is that you don't know where they are. You could cordinate orders with 3 Fanous Rems laying sniffers all over the midfield and activating sensor with an out of sight Rafiq. I once discovered 3 ninjas in the midfield, then porceeded to take them one by one with my Link Team.
lol. Sniffers and luck seem like the "reliable" answer, I guess. Good thing Fanous are cheap... What about counter deploying with my own Tauregs?
It's a viable option; but an alien concept for me. I play mostly Qapu Khalqi, so I'm not too familiar with Tuaregs in game. Remember you also have Djanbazans with MSV2 that can shoot through smoke. Huzakuts and Al Hawwa are also good infiltrators. They may not be TO, but they can start mid field and in camo
I absolutely love all of those models! The have each carried their weight in gold on the table so far. For QK, do you run a full Link of Djanbazan? Or of Ghulam? I’ve played a couple games each with Hassassins and QK but didn’t feel super comfortable with fireteams. I’ve held off since, but I have the Scarface model (which I love) and really like the idea of running a team. I just really like the way vanilla let’s me learn about all the units and test them out. Any suggestions for the next time I try QK? (Or hassassins for that matter).
For QK and HB I usually run a mixed Offensive/Defensive link of Ghulam. 1 HMG, 1 ML, 1 Doc, the rest is whatever. A 5 man linked ML is an absolute nightmare to deal with and she has racked up some of the highest kill counts of any of my models. Odalisques are a lot of fun, especially in Haris. They CAN be used for objective button pushing with a hidden hafza in there but I found them most useful in quadrant control and hunting/killing. Dont forget Tuaregs have mines. If your worried about camo and TO camo guys runing around, drop mines. Mines go off on camo tokens and most infiltrators have poor saves and physicals.
Sweet! I just ordered the ghulam swc box, as I'm tired of remembering which proxy is which. As for the Odalisques, I have the Spitfire [2 actually], and have been wanting to proxy up a Haris team. Now I will for sure. I have found that hiding a Hafza as the Spitfire Odalisque has been really fun as well. Do you typically still run a solo Djanbazan in QK? The link seems expensive.
