Fuck. Not only the Cybermask + Triangulated Fire trick is Order-expensive. You also need a Command Token to rebuild the Fireteam.
the best usage i can think about right now is to use her as a killer hacker with viral combi after loosing the makauls. take 2 makauls and aeleis viral. go till the ranks of enemy deployment. kill some stuff with makauls and let them die. take aeleis, make her cybermasked in a safe spot. use other orders and kill things. second turn, you can kill things easily with damn viral combi with suprise factor. at least we have now a thing in hand that have several tactical options.
If you'll do that, you won't have bonuses for surprise attack. So why would you do it? Overall Keesan is solid. Not as resilient as kosuil or sukeul or sakiel (she has no symbiot armor), but have scary weapons, tools - sensor, is a scary hacker. I can't say she was much worse with DHD but nice to see a little discount. In times Keesan had DHD I won game vs nomads :) (he didn't have KDH, as he supposed no hackers from TOHAA)...Interventor HD+ couldn't break keesan with her -3 wip for firewall and -6 from breakwater. Took her regularly in limited insertion games, especially in highly classified.
Because surprise shot is a short skill and triangulated fire is a long one. I think sensor is the best for discovering things and fighting vs camo spam then for triangulated fire thing....
Because Triangulated Fire is an Entire Order Skill, so you can't move+Triangulated Fire. Using Cibermask you can position yourself first with Move, it doesn't matter if the enemy delays or tries to discover you because next half of the Order is Inaction. Then, you use the Order for Triangulated Fire.
actually i was not adressing about using triangulated fire with suprise. in mid table, bs 12 unit with viral combi is enough dangerous against any unit with suprise attack chance. also can do the hacking attempt as well.
Huh. Never realized that Surprise Shot is a separate Skill. Although it's pretty inconsistent way to write the rule that way. Oh well.
You do it to get into position for triangulated fire. Its not a great move, but it is slighlty better, sort of like how this change to aelis isnt great, but makes her slightly better
Be sure to use the Nimbus Plus Grenades to make it even harder to hit Aelis as she's using the Triangulated Fire. Sure it's one more order, but that -6 the other guy gets might be worth it. It's a trick that is useful every couple of games, but that's about it.
Worth reminding the Hacker-lite Tohaa community that using Cybermask to surprise an enemy Hacker with Redrum is going to drop a -6 modifier on them. Fun fun fun!
BTW, just noticed that CB didn't update Aelis's cost in the profiles PDF. Whom to report this? @Koni? @Bostria?
I believe @-V- goes over fixing the army builder and profile PDF, might be worth a shot on the army builder subforum in the topic for bugs.
I have only used her new profile in a two games so far, (neither time in a list optimized for the mission), but having a KHD with Sensor is great for drawing out those pesky TO/Camo hackers. Also regeneration gives her shock immunity, to help her against a Trinity attack. Overall she the change is nice, and as she was a unit I used a lot before HSN3 I think she is worth consideration.
I've used her in a couple of games, and so far... - First game, I tabled my oponent without expending a single Order on her. - Second game, she ate two critical hits at the same time.
Aelis is back to her old profile in all of my army stuff, desktop, mobile and app, is anyone seeing something different or have we been jerked around?
