Every so often I pull out my Lasiqs and try a fireteam core with them and usually end up having my @$$ handed to me. Has anyone been "Sucessful" with them. I don't just mean win, but actually have them useful. So far the only real time I've ever had a Lasiq really pull its weight was a single VR without suppression fire, in a spot were my opponent said "They'll risk it". Any time I put them in a link, VSR, or suppression fire it suddenly becomes a threat is instantly dies. Today I tried the following and it didn't go well. It took a grand total of 2 orders to take out my link turn 1. Limited insertion - Lasiq ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 LASIQ Viral Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. My Yasbir was an order hog, but was able to HoloEcho some Crazy Koalas, then smoke into base contact with O-Yoroi (tag) and take it out. But after that Lasiqs failed all their Aros. The Yasbir failed its smoke dodge, and my Fiday was in no situation to to do anything. Leaving me down half an army and the only thing to show for it was a Tag that got repaired afterwards.
If I was gonna do it I'd use it to efficiently push multiple rifle models to the midfield then co-ordinate suppression with them before forming a new core link somewhere else in my army, I don't think a link that fails to hit the 5 man bonus generally makes a great ARO piece, and with no specialist they don't really scream active turn link either. I think you can justify using the sniper in a 4 man to try to slow your opponent down when going second too, it's at least as good as a muyib with a 5 man bonus until MSV get's applied to it, just gotta pay attention to where MSV is and take advantage of deploying second to try and cover important parts of the board while making it hard for the enemy to counter you.
I can only see a core being valuable for +1 B on a Lasiq sniper in ARO. The 75 Points it takes to make that happen doesn’t seem good. I would feel hard pressed to earn those points back. **Remember that I’m new, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt. I have only proxied a this once against PanO, and didn’t see any results. Lasiqs really shines against armies with low BTS, like Ariadna and Haqquislam. But full link is way too pricey and slow. MOV 4-2 makes makes them deploymend zone guards only. As it said before three man link can be nice ARO piece although.
I think "move up, co-ordinate Suppression, break down" gimmick could be useful in something like Biotechvore, but it's a bit too sensitive to many things and I'm not sure if it accomplishes enough. On a side note, with rumors about CB intentions to return banned (as per ITS challenge) characters back to us changed and even improved, I hope for Yasbir to go through this and come back with "counts as Muyib or Lasiq for fireteam composition purposes" note attached to him. AVA 4 units with a character to back them up would be a theme in HB at that point :P I'm still not sure if they will be used as a core though. Spoiler: Shitpost Give him Holo3 for an excuse to put 7 identical minis on the table.
I don't think so. Sure, Advanced Deployment L1 is nice - allows you to start them further up the board - but they are still the same one-trick-pony :(
