I dont think Janissarys come to RTF for two reasons:
-No sharing of units beyound Ghulam and Remotes.
-They just introduced a MSV 2 profile on Khawarij to not have to share Djanbazan.

And the most important reason...I dont want them to be there:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Akbar can easyli be applied to a new profile or a sectorial exclusive Hakim loadout (Their name means Doctor after all) and if RTF would nee a S2 HI, well Supersoldiers in Powerarmour wouldnt be a bad idea.

Jans to RTF would be weird. They make a lot of sense mechanically (RTF is the Limited Insertion faction) and from lore (Jannisaries are a core military unit), but at the same time they would move against sectorial individuality. It would be really hard to afford them + Tarik + Khawarij and the various expensive RTF guys that we already have.

As for the wildcard Tarik, I'm a bit confused. He's so fast and mobile on his own that it seems almost a mistake to run him in a link. At the same time, WC tells me to run him in a cheap Ghulam link. Run him with a Doc+, Hacker, and whatever else as Tarik blows through enemies with B5 FAT2. Just kind of a weird choice. It increasingly feels like the whole sectorial is a Tarik delivery unit.

Agreed, except an equally fast link, like Khawarij. I wouldn't want to slow him down with anything less fast, except ...
I hadn't thought of this, and its a pretty good point. Besides slowing him down, I think it would also be hard to keep him safe in a big slow link like this, but it would be worth a shot.
My exact thoughts (now that you've voiced them). I wonder if we'll get anything besides khawarij that really meshes well with him. The more we learn, the more RTF is reminding me of a small sectorial like Druze. I love Druze, but I hope RTF isn't so singularly focused. I'll still play it and love it though!

    1) I don't know that the Khawarij link is as fast as Tarik though. 6-4 is, in my experience, significantly faster than 4-4. The Ghulam link is slower, but it's also a dirt cheap way to level up Captain Haqq and provide specialists.

    2) I think the Hakim and Tuareg also mesh really nicely with Tarik. Both are midfield healers who can show up suddenly and help him keep going on his rambo rushes. I think the midfield game, in general, is going to be RTFs strong suit.

I think you’re right on both these points. (I have especially always loved Tuaregs). What I meant to say about the Khawarij, is that you can keep up, especially with superjump. They’ll eventually fall behind, if you let them, but they would allow Tarik to be more aggressive than the ghulam. Now, a slow roving band of death? On the cheap? Ghulam do the trick.

I think people are forgetting about the usefulness of the al fasid here. A big arm 5 suit, with lgl and smoke ammo, an hmg and mines. Thats a toolbox of a unit and a great anvil for ramahs LI to hammer opponents into. This army will play most like how haqq is described as fighting. But i do question tarik getting wildcard, what use is that for besides khawarij cause of superjump or ghulams just for it being inexpensive. Naffatuns have no need for him (assuming they can even link) and zhayedans are a terrible fit.

Completely agree on the wildcard issue. Maybe we have some cool new toys coming our way that may be designed for this?

I, for one, have not forgotten the Fasid. Currently, I wish I used him more, but find it hard to fit him into a game plan. I think he really needs to be a lynchpin to fit well into a list. (Mostly because of cost). When he is in any of my lists, he plays a big role in holding down a quadrant. I really hope he can link with someone or do something special in rtf. I usually have no problem with slower troop profiles (like the Druze), but this guy’s lack of speed seems to put a real hitch in my plans about 70% of the time I use him.

I guess it might be more accurate to say; his speed seems to become an issue when other things fall apart, and I need a clutch play. To be fair though, it’s bad judgement on my part, rather than the profile at fault.

Does anyone have any idea of when we might start seeing more serious peeks at Ramah. I heard Bostria is doing a video for LVO feb. 8-10 but would that be a proper event to give details or would he wait to do a beasts of war week? We already know feb and march? releases i believe, so what else can be shown?

If the book is coming at Adepticon I'd imagine that's when we'll see the bulk of the reveals, teases at LVO seems highly likely though

Id hope so, but should we expect silhouette teases with a quote, or dossier teases like with IA.... i would love the latter.

Silhouette teases tend to be more of a social media thing for CB, seminars have concepts and renders where available.

Given the rise of FTO profiles being the linkable version of a model - is it outside the box to assume that Tarik will be a Wildcard in only specific forms? Giving the possibility of his linkable form being a non-Fatality 2, or at least non-Spitfire, one? Lots of kneejerk reactions to the announcement floating about.

I'm honestly not a fan of the idea of a linkable Tarik. He is great hunting on his own so I feel the link will limit flexibility. This doesn't hurt Tarik in and of itself of course as he can always opt not to join any, but I feel like this will limit the Sectorial. If we are getting a wildcard that doesn't want to join fireteams all of the time, it will feel like a wasted opportunity. We likely will not receive another new character who will have wildcard, for example. Not to mention something is likely to take a nerf at this point. I expect that either Tarik will have to take the hit (either in his profile or to Fat2) or for Ramah to feel the squeeze in its available options. Very interested to see how it turns out. Could be just fine.

Maybe the use case isn't to have him in a link to begin with, but to let him reinforce a link that's lost a man mid/late game. Take him hunting turn one, then have him reinforce a link team that's taken losses holding an objective later. I'm not sure how viable that option would be, but it's worth thinking about.

I'd go the other way around, have him start in a link, followed by a string of little ducklings (Naffatun) and sweep the ramparts on Turn 1 (even if only his Rifle profile is FTO/Wildcard, you've still got the BS to leverage Fatality 2 out to 48"), then once all of the visible ARO pieces are dead or prone, Tarik rockets out of the link and starts his Super-Jump Murder Party.

Then, you reform the link with the 4 original Naffatun and either another Naffatun or some other Wildcard/Special option.

What do you guys think will be the merc options for RTF, if any?

Or even less likely, units from other armies, such as Alguaciles in QK?

Fluff wise it seems mercs and outsiders is more of a QK thing. RTF strikes me more as the professional Haqq fighting force so things like mercs or non-Haqq units would feel weird in RTF (to me at least).

I agree, RTF is Haqq's professional army, so mercs would feel out of place.

I wonder about the possibly of Aleph though, Haqq isn't as wholly integrated with it as PanO or YJ but they're not as philosophically opposed as the Nomads are, and if they can use a recreation does that open the door to other Aleph troopers?

I have read or heard (maybe Mayacast) that the fluff of Carmen Johns and Batard suggests that they are in RTF. I dont have 3-O so I cant confirm it.

But personally I dont wnat to see MERCs in RTF. Every one is potentially takeing a place that could have been a cool Haqq unit, so no.
Keep them for the Khanate, because they are a much better fit for those unruly bastards.

An interesting idea. It would be another set of players to sell ALEPH models to.
What would be a decent fit I wonder?

Garuda - if they want another AD trooper without using Bashis or Ragiks and don't want to create a new Haqq one.
Deva - has access to a few profiles that Haqq is lacking in like sensor or additional MSV access.
Danavas - infowar specialists which isn't Haqqs forte. Barids in Hassassins seems as close as they come.

Not sure if I feel any of them would belong though.
