Do you think the roll to dodge the template is f2f with the roll for the combat jump? it makes sense to me

 

I thought it might be a direct template weapon, 'fired' at the point of landing. So, the dodge would be a normal roll, too. That way, it has utility to drop in front of someone.
But, that's really a guess, based on the fact other AROs could be used to oppose it unless the rules become clunker. If it's a face to face, then I suppose it is even more in the Liu's favour, as long as you bring an EVO hacker.

 

I am very curious to see how the timing of this rule resolves.

 

Super Jump because of the rocket pack. That would be enough for me to find the Liu Xing fun and interesting.

Also, comparing it to the Crusader Brother (who is not hackable) kinda shows how mediocre and uninspiring the Liu Xing is

 

Super-jump would have been cool. But whats the points cost on those suckers? Nothing is for free unless we're talking frenzy discounts!

Care to elaborate on that point rather than just being a broken record?

 

Super-Jump is a very cheap skill. I think for most units it'd be 1 point.

 

More like 2points, looking at perseus, but yeah it's really cheap.

Personally i would have loved to see vet L1 and stealth on the Liu-xing, as It would have made him the hacker/repeater hunter we seem to so desperately need at the moment. Sure you can still get IMM-1, but those can be reset, whereas if you get oblivionned you're just done for (and as many people pointed out when he we saw he was 1wound, AD jump troopers are unlikely to be in engie/doc range).

Doesn’t Zhencha fullfil that Hacker/Repeater Hunter role? It has the Camo, it has the stealth and it even has C+.

Wouldn't have complained about Liu Xing getting more stuff, it's just that as I see it those two complement each other nicely.

 

I think you should model it after Minelayer instead :)

Considering it won't trigger unless there is an enemy model in the AOE according to McClane, I'd suspect it's a DEPLOYMENT SKILL, Optional, and Attack.

 

Nah 'cause you can't get close to the repeater and blast it without risking an oblivion to the face, which is the crux of the issue really. Say, you have a moran entranched in a building, no way to get a line of sight on him without getting in the repeaters range, you might get rid of him with your zhencha, but all of his hackers will have free aros on you, and even with fairy dust this is usually bad news.

We'll see what kind of toys Haidaos and Hulangs bring to the table, but i really hope we will not have to rely on bloody zhanchi against hack heavy lists since they are our only non hackable unit ATM, that would be really distatefull.

Another option would be to send lone Tin-bot B profiles repeater hunting, with fairy dust and just enough luck i guess it could work?

 

I don't know, I never see that the different levels of a special skill changes its basic parameters : automatic or not, Obligatory or Optional, Entire order, etc.
EDIT : OK the camouflage changes the parameters... actually. Forget what I said

For me it's just the only sure things we have: AUTOMATIC SKILL & OBLIGATORY...and the name...But CB can surprise me

 

One thing that's also a bit in the air is whether hackers have to choose hack transport as their Aro or lose it.

This makes hackers just a bit more vulnerable and I think assualt hackers in the midfield will want to think carefully about taking aros on the Liu xing to drop their marker state. Especially TO AHD, which might be one of IAs big threats

 

Hack Transport is a Shield program and only available to normal, EVO and the two Defensive devices. AHD need not worry about it :)

 

I'm meaning if you snipe the reg hacker because they hacked transport and potentially ate an explode. AHD in the midfield will be the most regular occurences of threat to the liu xing in terms of repeater coverage.

So I was meaning, the dreaded repeater coverage that people worry about isn't failsafe, depending on how the HTA ARO works in the order sequence for an explode jump.

 

That same crusader that has PH 11, that same crusader that's almost not used in MO or that is not used at all in vanilla? that same trooper that moves 10-5 or that dies on one chain rifle hit? and costs what? 31points with multi? and has no specialist profiles?

Yeah, the liuxing is sooo mediocre!

 

It's a Tiger that traded Mimetism (harder to hit) for NWI and Bioimmunity (harder to drop dead), and we all thought that Tigers were going to be in the sectorial.

So it's extremely underwhelming.

 

Tigers may not be in IA, but Liu Xing are best at fighting in the exact situations a Tiger would falter in- DTWs, dangerous Combat Jumps, fights which risk crits and any situation where leaving an unconscious unit in the enemy's side of the table is a free Classified. Tigers are better active turn gunfighters and more reliable specialists without being vulnerable to Hacking. Since the last thing vanilla needs is more profiles with overlapping skill sets, I for one am happy we got a noticeably different AD troop which can function in different circumstances- especially if you look at past AD in other factions like Crusader Brethren and Akali. And, as I have explained before, it's especially pleasing that they are cheap enough to take a few of.
