It almost feels like FC is all about turning that Core into a second Haris when I look at the ideas some of you guys have here :-P
Well, you CAN run a solid Securitate Core and one of the Haris': Foreign Company ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 HANNIBAL Lieutenant (Strategic Deployment, Strategos L1) MULTI Marksman Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 41) SEÑOR MASSACRE Boarding Shotgun, E/M Grenades, Eclipse Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW, E/M CCW. (0 | 26) BOLT (Fireteam: Haris) Boarding Shotgun, Drop Bears / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 19) SECURITATE HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 21) SECURITATE Feuerbach / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 22) SECURITATE Hacker (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 21) CSU (Specialist Operative) Rifle + Light Shotgun, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) CSU (Specialist Operative) Rifle + Light Shotgun, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) CSU (Specialist Operative) Breaker Combi Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15) ZERO Hacker (Killer Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 21) GROUP 2 5 1 DAKTARI Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 14) ZONDBOT Electric Pulse. (0 | 3) PATHFINDER DRONBOT Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 16) FUGAZI DRONBOT Flash Pulse, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) ZERO (Minelayer) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 19) BOLT (Chain of Command) Combi Rifle + Light Shotgun, Drop Bears / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 27) WARCOR (360º Visor) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3) 3.5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army
I am curios, do you need the Bolt (Haris) In this case? Doesn't Hannibal already have the Haris Rule? The only reason I see him having it is for these Fireteams... This is the 3rd time I see someone doing triple Securitate Triple CSU...might I ask, why the extra one? Just because they are good solo too and are cheap, or do you intend to do some Fireteam switching around?
Oh, shit, yeah! I hadn't noticed that yet. Foreign Company ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 10 HANNIBAL Lieutenant (Strategic Deployment, Strategos L1) MULTI Marksman Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 41) SEÑOR MASSACRE Boarding Shotgun, E/M Grenades, Eclipse Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW, E/M CCW. (0 | 26) BOLT Spitfire / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 23) SECURITATE HMG / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 21) SECURITATE Feuerbach / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 22) SECURITATE Hacker (Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 21) CSU (Specialist Operative) Rifle + Light Shotgun, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 12) CSU (Specialist Operative) Rifle + Light Shotgun, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 3) 5 SWC | 299 Points Open in Infinity Army Yeah, that seems even more solid. Well, to be fair, they are AMAZING solo. Sixth Sense lvl 1 makes for a brilliant combo with a Shotgun and Nanopulser to offer deployment zone defense on the same level as minelayers. But, in this case, it's also to swap one in when we take a casualty so the Fireteam maintains the 5-trooper bonus.
I kinda like the idea of Securitate Core and Hannibal-Massacre Haris, but toying around with it I realized it's super annoying that you only can link Bolts with Hannibal! So it's really awkward to make use of the CoC. Either you have both of them in the middle of the table or you need to take that loner Bolt like above. Which is fine I guess but still annoying. If you take a Securitate Lt. and use Hannibal as the CoC you still have the problem that he will be party of the forward deployed Haris, so it's more likely to die for the back up as it is for the Lt. I don't, Hannibal just feels more and more awkward to me, and it's annoying that you kinda need him for a lot of links in FC. He definitely isn't a nobrainer choice like new Mentor or the Daoying, he reminds me more and more of SunTze 2.0. Avicienna+Valkyrie+ Orc seem more solid as a Haris, but when it comes down to it, a Kriza Lt plus Bolt CoC and a Chimera seem like the most effective way to go, and you even take them on top of the Haris!
SunTze 2.0? That's harsh *lol* I think it might be that the "CoC" of Hannibal will see less use as actual lieutenant replacement, and more as a Specialist advancing in the Fireteam...which feels odd to me as I'm used to expensive CoC's sitting in the back as my even more expensive Rambo Lieutenant whoop ass in the front, but it might still be viable in its own way I feel, especially considering the high amount of Veterans in the Army.
So it's basically a waste of points, which is ok, but with other new options becoming super versatile and effective, he just doesn't feel like a good/solid choice, which is a shame.
Had a similar Idea although my intent is to use Hannibal as Specialist and the Spitfire Bolt for Shooting (for what else could you use PanO troops?). But so far I wasn't able to find a spot for the COC Bolt. Bolts+Hannibal ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 9 1 CROC MAN Boarding Shotgun, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 29) CSU Boarding Shotgun, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 11) MULEBOT (Minesweeper, Repeater) Electric Pulse. (0 | 8) SECURITATE MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 21) SECURITATE Feuerbach / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 22) SECURITATE Paramedic (MediKit) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 15) SECURITATE Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13) SECURITATE Lieutenant Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 13) WARCOR (360º Visor) Flash Pulse / Stun Pistol, Knife. OK, so this is the first FC list with the SoFs I kinda feel ok with. At first the lone CoC Bolt felt bit strange, but as a back up member and a back up for Hannibal its actually cool: Foreign Company ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 HANNIBAL Lieutenant (Strategic Deployment, Strategos L1) MULTI Marksman Rifle, Nanopulser / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 41) LAXMEE Hacker (UPGRADE: Maestro) Submachine Gun + Pitcher, Cybermines, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 34) VALKYRIE Heavy Shotgun, Grenades / Heavy Pistol, EXP CC Weapon. (0 | 35) SEÑOR MASSACRE Breaker Combi Rifle, E/M Grenades, Eclipse Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW, E/M CCW. (0 | 29) BOLT Missile Launcher, Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 26) BOLT (Chain of Command) Combi Rifle + Light Shotgun, Drop Bears / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 27) AKAL COMMANDO Spitfire / Pistol, E/M CCW. (1.5 | 28) CROC MAN Hacker (Assault Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 36) PEACEMAKER Spitfire + AUXBOT_3 / Electric Pulse. (1 | 27) AUXBOT_3 Heavy Flamethrower / Electric Pulse. (- | 4) PATHFINDER DRONBOT Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 16) 5.5 SWC | 299 Points Open in Infinity Army A little light on specialists though. I guess it's a pretty unique play style too since it does start outside of the deployment zone. Could even down grade Massacre and change the Pathfinder into a Zero, but a sensor might be useful since we don't have any MSV.
Seems like a pretty solid limited insertion list, you have 3 specialists which isn't a bad number, might have to bubble wrap them a bit in a heavy button pushing game. that extra bolt is going to see a lot of use as a replacement fireteam member I'd imagine
first benefit is to reform back up to 5. is a common list building tactic. as cheap link can easily lose a guy quickly. second benefit, and specific for CSU, is that immediately after deploying a CSU you roll its metachem. Then later during deployment you form the fireteam picking which CSU you want in and which is solo.
Okay, after testing Hannibal I am... disappointed. His rules are cool, but for his price he's just... meh. At bs12 with no visual mods he's a decent gunfighter at best even though he does have a good gun. But he's costed more than an ORC! Considering how much more damage a full ORC+Valkyrie +Avicena link can make, I see very little reason to take Hannibal in a LI list. Gonna try him on a Haris and see how it goes
When it comes to LI builds I'd really like to play the Orcs+Aicenna+Valkyrie. Since I'm no fan of the new Fireteam: Hog Pile trend two other troops fom a different unit / Characters are my personal maximum in a Fireteam. Another thing I realized is that I couldn't build a list without Zeros - which might not surprise since I normally play Bakunin. Foreign Company ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 AVICENNA Combi Rifle, Flash Pulse / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 27) ORC HMG / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 44) ORC Boarding Shotgun + 1 TinBot A (Deflector L1) / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 36) ORC Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 36) VALKYRIE Heavy Shotgun, Grenades / Heavy Pistol, EXP CC Weapon. (0 | 35) BOLT (Multispectral Visor L1) MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 27) BOLT Lieutenant Combi Rifle + Light Shotgun / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 20) BOLT (Fireteam: Haris) Boarding Shotgun, Drop Bears / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 19) CROC MAN (Forward Observer, Deployable Repeater) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 32) ZERO Hacker (Assault Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 24) 4.5 SWC | 300 Points Open in Infinity Army One thing I discovered was that apparently no native or background Nomad troop composes a Fireteam with PanOceanian troops without Hannibal's presence. That's quite interesting...
maybe its just me but the strategic deployment rule as far as i understad it "In those scenarios or when applying tournament rules which provide the Forward Deployment Level 1 Special Skill to any member of the Fireteam, the owner of Strategic Deployment, and the rest of the Fireteam, can be deployed as if they have the Forward Deployment Level 2 Special Skill." only the bolt will have FD2 the rest will have FD1. I'm missing something?
I don't know, it seems pretty clear to me that if a single member of the group has FDL1 for whatever reason, everyone in it gains FDL2
think it means that if by any means the mission grants FD1 they all get FD2 but the FD1 of the bolt is not a mission rule not a tournament rule just a itsX rule..... Ok I've seen the error, spanish and english rules dont match "En aquellos escenarios o reglas de torneo que concedan la Habilidad Especial Despliegue Avanzado Nivel 1, el poseedor de esta Habilidad Especial aportará Despliegue Avanzado Nivel 2." In those scenarios or when applying tournament rules which provide the Forward Deployment Level 1 Special Skill, the owner of Strategic Deployment will provide the Forward Deployment Level 2 translated literally to english "In those scenarios or when applying tournament rules which provide the Forward Deployment Level 1 Special Skill to any member of the Fireteam, the owner of Strategic Deployment, and the rest of the Fireteam, can be deployed as if they have the Forward Deployment Level 2 Special Skill."
if you play in an ITS tournament, using the ITS tournament pdf, then that rule is definitely a tournament rule. I'm sure that it is because we have that special rule in ITSX that they added that phrasing for Strategic Deployment in which if a tournament rule gives FD1 then he'll get FD2 instead. If Strategic Deployment existed in 2017, it probably wouldn't have been there but would simply be giving FD1 to the team.
