I feel the most recent units for PanO have been the creative types people are asking for. There just hasn't been much new. I think we get threads like this because the actual convo about PanO is "this is the problem." "OK." People want to express themselves but don't have anything to elaborate on so they invent some.
The true newbie army is honestly YJ. It's jack of all trades style gets players familiar with all aspects of Infinity and its armies which PanO is lacking in some departments (warbands, smoke, cheap-ish camo). YJ is more flexible and has a shit ton of creative units (even with JSA out of the picture). The Locust and Black Friar are pretty cool and creative. That's only two units though...
Them too. His concept could be pushed a little further in MO I think (why can't he link with other Knight teams?).
My guess is that Hospitallers didn't need more options and they don't know what to do with the others. Personally I think "mobile and tough specialist" is one place the forum meta has fallen behind on and I like him solo.
Father-Knight is nice in theory, bit of a disappointment in play. He's simply too similar to other knights, and suffers from the "elite Combi Rifle" curse. But as I've said before, most recent units we've got are a sign that CB's approach begins to change. I hope they'll keep at it.
If the FKFO has a multi-rifle I’d use him a ton since he’d be a specialist and back up fighting piece. That where Is love to see some more creativity from CB, Montesa and Hospitaller are both solid but KotHS, Teutons, and Santiagos could all use a second look to make them not be competing for (and usually losing except in some specific scenarios) the gun fighter slot in a list to some extent.
On second thought you're right. I don't know what I was saying he's not even a specialist. I kind of like not paying for a weapon I'm not going to use much until late game. MULTI rifles cost like 5 points more than a Combi I need to cut somewhere. Although the option would be nice.
Ehh, regardless of what we're discussing we're always back to the same topic -_- I'm glad that at least SAA is in great shape, aside from Singh and Rao.
I think the bottom line of PanO is that making a new unit that is not a power increasing obnoxious autoinclude but still worth taking is proving difficult. It's not an obvious easy solution that CB is leaving out because they're mean or dumb.
Honestly a bs12 mk12 multirifle mkmn rifle ect is always going to be more effective and desirable than a bs13 combi rifle. Combi rifles suck and limiting our guns to expensive 1.5 and 2 swc weapons limits our "shooty" faction. We touched on it here but I am curious how many higher tier players stick with pano long term. I mean I love my pano nit writing lists for them is a constant exercise in frustration compared to my usarf cha and tohaa
Oh, they're not mean or dumb. Simply not very creative when it comes to PanO. It doesn't help that in their rpg days Nomads and Haqq were probably the heroes, while PanO was the opponent. Imagine someone watching all Hunger Games movies, and then getting asked to create Capitol Peacekeeper army. And solutions are obvious.
I don't think it's an easy thing to be creative about. I'd bet they're trying. I've heard this said many times but with the factions switched around. I think this is the biggest gap between "old" and "new" units. They either expanded on using old weapons or added new weapons I think to add variety and to have more control over cost and SWC. Most of Corregidor has a "Combi everywhere" feel except for the two new units who have access to a cheap but effective LSG. Marksman Rifles, MK12, SMG, even Red Fury etc. all either add useful functions (e.g. extended range), lower cost (SMG, LSG) or lower SWC (Mksmn, Red Fury). I don't really like it, especially if older guys aren't getting touched up.
No and our complaints dont fo anything except make us feel better for a time. Because bland is the faction design and it sucks
Yu Jing or Nomads are how I introduce most new players to the game. There is a reason for that. And they are the armies which I think should be in the "ultimate newcomers" pack. . But entirely separately from that, I don't think there was ever any realistic chance of getting an AD Doctor in PanOceania. I'm kinda surprised that they took such a "Nomad" unit and gave it to Haqqislam... but I guess "ALL THE DOCTORS" is part of the Haqq shtick.
It also doenst help when our ideas and suggestions that we brainstorm end up in other factions. Linked remotes anyone?
