Doesn't she get so easily substituted with Mary Problems? I think Custodier's not bad, expecially for HD+ option, but in case of AHD I think it is obsolete. And also, we have a better option for HD+ such as interventor.

Combi, BS12 and ODD means that if you really need to get some gun fighting in, you can. This isn't really something that can be done with an interventor.

Hmm.. Not trying to behave sarcastic, but that still doesn't explain to me why she is a great midfield hacker :( If you are saying she's a versatile midfield hacker with HD+ who can also do some gunfighting, maybe that will explain.

yeah the "midfield" part in Civilized Barbarians post confused me a little bit as well. I was more offering some counter points on how the interventor isn't necessarily a superior choice, just a similar one that provides a bit more versatility.

I've caught many off guard when the "do nothing hacker LT" decides to go on a killing spree.

She also has FD1. Not a great idea if she's your LT but yeah can push.

That being said I really really don't like Custodiers in Vanilla. Which thoroughly annoys me because they are my single favourite unit in the game.

The main reason I don't like Custodiers is all the anti-synergies they have between their kit and their significant vulnerability to KHDs.

The NFB on white noise and enemy KHDs are an issue, but at the same time with the average repeater coverage and our own KHDs, when compared to what others can field as well as the custodier being able to competently hack back, it's not as scary as people think.

I will admit since the TJC rework I've been using hacker LT's less in favour of securitate in supression in my DZ somewhere.

I find Interventors are on the other side of the 'KHD can't reliably kill me through my own Repeater provided I have KHDs' maths whereas Custodiers are on the 'its worth suiciding a KHD at' maths.

It's not just White Noise either, Surprise Shot also gets anti-synergies.

I forgot about the issues with cybermask, it's something I seldom use offensively but more defensively to not get SWORDed on my opponent's turn or to bypass an enemy model to go do something else.

That's exactly what I was trying to say. I don't want my Interventor anywhere they can get shot, but with a Custodier I'm comfortable advancing to push buttons or fight if she has to.
My bad, you all successfully figured out what I meant though. She's pretty much the only non-infiltrating hacker (Mary aside) that I'm willing to move up the board.

Wildcat AHD, Interventor KHD, Heckler KHD, Moira AHD and Zondnautica AHD... I've run most of them and am willing to have them all scrap in the midfield (Surprise Shot BSGs from an Interventor surprises people as a combat option).

Nomads gets a lot of combat hackers.

Special mention to the Wildcat AHD for bringing their own D-Charges to stick to the thing you IMM. Move+Carbonite, Move+D-Charge is solid.

I think this is the point. Aside from she is the only HD+ that can FD1, there are so many friends who are a bit more versatile and cost-efficient, relatively. And for me, I think Custodier is versatile but also cost inefficient, for a hacker. Just IMO

I am biased because I like the custodier fluff. In bakunin her haris has treated me well.

For each hacking related "what if...?" situation she consistently comes up B+ or better. She's got good bs, good defense, her own pitcher, every program you might need, and a mixed haris if you want. If you build for 1 tactic, there will be a better hacker for you. Given any random mid game chaos, I'd rather have the custodian in my pocket.

NFB interactions weird me out. I wish you could stop the white noise anytime. But it's not like these are forced problems. You decide to cybermask or white noise. If anything it just hurt as a new player learning odd interaction #241.

I used her a bakunin LT to save the swc back when moderators cost 1. She wasn't hard to keep safe.

That's evil and I can't wait to try it. Can't say I've ever used the Wildcat AHD or the other AHD hackers you listed but maybe its time to experiment.

That's a cc 11 roll still right? Or you could spend 1 more order walking away hitting the detonator.
    #coolGuysWalkAwayFromExplosions

Edit: I just looked this up. You could place it and not explode it at all. Then if they lose IMM and start to be a problem, detonate the charge as ARO. Might save you 1 order and might make your opponent reluctant to push your engineers. Also feels cool to just accept an attack while clacking off a big explosion.

You use a different set of D-Charges to explode it if they pass the Reset.

With a Wildcat link you use a different model to do it not the hacker: you can't hack once Engaged. Wildcat links have bulk D-Charges.

I actually tend to Carbonite to setup an EM based attack to convert the IMM-1 into IMM-2 + ISO (vs TAGs).

Custodiers are really good if you running sectorial, but the Interventor is just better in Vanilla.

Also, don't forget about Bandit and Zero KHDs. If running Tunguska, you can also take a KHD on a Spektr as well.

Disclaimer: in sensing we face different metas. We've had a lot of LI tournaments, and I face a big mix between HI links and Ariadna. My A&B list tends to be among mission lines and they both need to bring the pain to anything.

1 wip, and 2 bts extra against red rum or sucker punch, fast panda
    Or
Odd, 2 more armor, pitcher, 1 bs

It depends on how you use your hackers. I find she operates better in the mid field and enemy dz, and can handle the wet work after the hack. LI I recommend swapping to her.

Zero I prefer the AHD. Basilisk and carbonite hit as hard as any SWORD2, and works against a lot more targets. It's normally my repeaters and they have their own camo so the other features are redundant. Prone marker on a rooftop can punish a HI link so much. She can also spotlight comfortably from her rooftop if I want the obj or bonuses.

Yea, buddy! Zero AHD prone on a rooftop by a high traffic area... love it.

It's delightful to watch opponents debate whether to burn Orders digging out a 20 point specialist, burn Orders taking the long way round, burn Orders Resetting, or just try to crush all their BTS rolls.

Custodiers compared to Interventora pay about 8-9pts to be less straight up good hackers but to get a proper pitcher, ODD and superior gunfighting stats, plus they get Forward Deployment L1 right now. Amount of games I've won because of a Custodier getting out the ol' combi-rifle and going on a killing spree is a few. ODD and White Noise makes for a strong combo.
