    Hello!

I'm quite new to Infinity, and I'm looking at starting Nomads soon-ish (just have to finish the stuff I already got), and preferably Bakunin (they really appeal to my sense of crazy).

What do you prefer proxying for the Lizard? I don't really like the model in the store. The Szalamandra looks sweet AF. Would players accept it as a proxy?

Also, the Zero's seem like an older sculpt as well. Would it be acceptable to use another model for it? Someone with a similar helmet-style (like the bandits) and paint a big 0 on it (like Zero from Borderlands 2)?

Zeroes and the Lizard are both very old sculpts. I don't think anyone would give you trouble if you wanted to use the Szalamandra in its place. The fluff does say though, that the Lizard is specifically an outmoded piece of equipment that's been souped up, so I'm OK with the styling.

Maybe just use Spektrs if you don't like the Zeroes? They have two fresh sculpts and are pretty similar in style.

Does anyone know at what point the ammo for stun grenades changed from Flash to Stun? I feel like this is a recent change... Need to dig up some old paper army lists and see.

After noticing that, I ran this list today for Hunting Party:

I'm trying out the Zero MSR. Stat-wise, he's not that great, with his princely 11BS, but I'm following the line of reasoning that if a Zero is a super-efficient profile then the Zero MSR is an also an efficient profile. Normally the Moira is my staple MSR. The trade-off is interesting.

    MOIRA:
    12BS, ODD, 3 ARM, FD1, 34 / 1.5

    ZERO:
    11BS, CAMO, 0 ARM, INFILTRATE/MINES, 26 / 1.5

If you don't need the zeroes to be specialists this might be an attractive trade. That eight points is a whole extra order, which makes up for the lack of ODD, and infiltrate means you'll always be in the perfect place when you take your shot. Plus, you're a marker, and a marker MSR is super rare... despite the skank-ass BS I think this idea has legs. I'll play more games and report.

Really interesting list. You're forfeiting the joy of free ADHLs whilst also keeping your Engineer at home. In my eyes you chose the hard way to play, insane! Madman! :D

If I had to choose the Grrls for HP I'd try the following list:
    Jurisdictional Command of Bakunin

PROWLER Combi Rifle + Light Flamethrower, Adhesive Launcher / Pistol, CCW. (0 | 32)
    RIOT GRRL Spitfire / Pistol, Knife. (2 | 34)
RIOT GRRL MULTI Rifle, Stun Grenades / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 32)

I’m brand new to nomads and pretty new to the game in general (half dozen games under my belt)
Do people run moira link teams? With forward deployment level 1, they seem pretty solid in theory. I’m still toying with lists and struggling to build a core of these ladies.

I hate to put it so bluntly, but no, they don't. Moiras are strong, but not especially resilient... if something's capable of killing a Moira it can easily kill them all. FD1 looks nice on paper, but if you push a team forward like that, you're gift-wrapping them for Fidays, Speculos, AD and warbands. They work better as singletons.

I like the moira MSR and the Custodier HD+ (not the lt) best. If Bakunin gets the wildcard treatment in the future, I think that Custodier Haris could be a real thing.

I feel like if you play them carefully they can be OK as a link. That's from someone who often thinks about playing them, but rarely does though. One thing is that you probably want to leverage rangebands with them, maximising their ODD. That can mean deploying them back for the sniper (and letting the warbands and zeros do the close work) rather than utilising FD1. As with everything in Infinity, it's situational. The 'Golden Haris' of Kusanagi, Custodier, Healer I've found quite fun, and a BS15 B5 ODD HMG fully linked is nothing to sneeze at.

Oh yeah, when it's your turn, you can shit all over everyone and everything. It feels great. ARO, otoh, is terrifying

You have to go to great lengths to protect them and with a big link that can be really, really hard.

Moiras are the "glass" in glass hammer. As long as you are able to use the core fireteam in BS interactions they're awesome, even against MSV2 troops. But the moment you push them too hard the chance is high they'll shatter. But contrary to @helsbecter I see them rather in that fireteam than as singles due to the massive advantage Sixth Sense L2 brings, carfully deployed with other troops watching their blind spots against the Impersonators/Ninjas/Bran they're also doing well in the FD1 Zone. There the E/M grenade launcher Moira can really shine by isolating the whole opponent army.

Briefly said: you need a bunch of practice to play them well and to cope with their loss.

Moderators and Grrls are easier to play and both forgive mistakes a bit more. Since Moderators are Cheap you can always bring a 6th or even a 7th to reform your Link if one dies further you'll have enough points left to bring a bunch of good stuff with them.

So what are good support troops for a Moira link?
I guess Zeroes and Morlocks or a Überfall Kommando work as usual. Bran for another vector? Remotes to capitalise on White Noise?

all of those are sensible, depends a lot on mission. uberfall and morlocks are great picks for their varying smoke sources and CC punch and a buffed tsyklon makes a great solo piece and synergises with your hackers. zero FO, zero KHD is my base pick before i do anything else too

Scary, by just clicking together the mentioned stuff it came exactly to 300/6 and this list:

    Jurisdictional Command of Bakunin

Something that could be done is switch the Zero FO to a Stempler, that way the list would even feature a Sensor.

I think it's a fun LI list. If you went to 2 groups I'd be tempted to swap something for some Morlocks. They make an excellent skirmish screen stopping things like infltrators and WB getting at your DTW and CC vulnerable Reverends.

Limited Insertion Bakunin is weird. Super-strong at low points, but 300 and up is a mess. I tried really hard to make it work, but all our best units are under 30 points.

Eh? Moira's, grrls, taskmasters, bran, sin eaters, kusanagi etc all over the 30point mark. Bakunin are good in LI, got some great teams. I ran Bakunin LI at Northern open a season or two back and did pretty well, that Moira HMG was mvp, knee deep in spent casings by the end of the tournament lol!

I would always take an Überfallkommando in a Bakunin list. It is just too useful. You can alphastrike and get rid of things the enemy is depending on or things that can be dangerous for your Riot Grrls. They are the strongest CC in the game. Even Achilles dies to them.
