OK, trip report: Forward Deployment on Sin-eaters rules. The extra 4" made sure I got the most for my money. I think the AD changes help Meteor Zonds more than other AD (due to fatness and on-board repeater) but I'm not sure. What do you all think?
They still need a ton of hand holding and support, that's true. But maybe they're now worth it in something like Show of Force where you're likely to see a TAG?
Nah, in Show Of Force you know where the TAG will be thus a Zero/Spektr Assault Hacker do the job better with less risk of failure when deploying outside the DZ.
Does anyone else think that Bran do Castro should have impersonation when facing off against Morats? With some colour to his face and some dyeing of his hair he can easily pass as a morat, and also almost match the close combat skills of their warband.
Checking in with Bakunin season 10. Dealing with AD3+ is a monster pain in the ass. Right now I'm piling all my moderators and friends in one corner and screening the rest of my DZ with Morlocks. It's working so-so... I haven't been burned enough times yet to truly perfect my deployment. I haven't tried the Meteor yet to see if it's any better than last year.
thank you for continuing the Bakunin guide, @helsbecter ! Am playing Bakunin again, and if I have some opinions about units that are not mentioned unti now, I will voice them.
This also makes the cheaper sin-eaters (MK-12, spitfire) more effective, especially on tighter fire lanes.
This is very correct. I've been taking the spitfire over the HMG because he holds his ground better. I think we've all been there when we've deployed a HMG on a building just to knock off an impetuous model or two and get instagibbed by something weak and lame like a Rui Shi. That doesn't happen with the spitfire because whatever fights him has to invest orders into moving first - he's a lot more likely to face something that's not tailor-made to kill his ass.
I ran a Kusinagi/Healer Moira team yesterday and with FDL1 it totally kicks ass. We played quadrant control and they absolutely dominated a side of the board against MO, I highly recommend a screen of a couple of Morlocks and a Zero or two, but those are good investments anyway and really work well with the main team.
Checking in for the new year: Working the moderator fireteam a lot harder in the last two months. The MSR is a solid contributor, if a bit limited. He is most successful covering areas of the board that start empty but could see action turn 2. Shock immunity is a big draw. The Lunokhod is the best defense against AD. Hacking drops is not effective. Shooting with Bran do Castro continues to be a bust. It's better to sit and wait rather than scum surprise shot on 8's and 11's. Anyone have any experience running Bakunin with three order groups? I am imagining something like this: Jurisdictional Command of Bakunin ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 5 5 5 MODERATOR MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. Anyone out there still running Bakunin? I'm still keeping the flame. In 2019 I'm pretty much over Riot Grrls. The core link is strong and cheap as ever, but when I run them I really struggle to defend myself against all these horrible new threats: drop troops, bizarro links, IA and OSS, and now probably Shas... it's not working the way it needs to.
More pointedly, can anything be done to improve this list, or has it reached its final form? I feel like it's straight up outclassed by IA. Needs more Uberfall. I've gone back to Bakunin 'cause they feel like home and I don't get to play as much as the better players in my meta, so something I'm comfy with helps. Disposable Morlocks and Zero minelayers (or emaulers) work ok as soft defences I think. I just like straight up eating people with our excellent WB tho.
Yeah, morlocks and zeroes have a pretty sick synergy. Throw smoke, then spend like 4-5 orders puking out deployables everywhere.
Three Zeros, the Reaktion Zond is totally un supported though. Z Side ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 9 1 1 MODERATOR Combi Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. Yeah, unsupported Reaktion Zond is kinda rough. It picks up so much from the help... I have tried the RZ with Riot Grrls but it seems like something always snaps it up harmlessly in 1-2 orders. Then, since I spent all my shit on the Grrls, I don't have much response beyond exactly what I was going to do anyway.
