Biker gang shouldn't work as well as in this batrep (or the previous batrep). Smoke's Special Dodge property is not an option you can turn off. "Smoke can be used to avoid enemy Attacks," but it doesn't say you can also use it to not avoid enemy attacks. It will always be FtF when possible so if there is 3 warbands coming an alley, the first one cannot just chuck smoke as a non-FTF skill, die to the ARO, and the next warbands be free to walk in the smoke uncontested. Berserk is the only skill I think that give you that ability to turn a possible FTF into 2 Normal rolls. In your way of playing you are giving berserk-like ability to all your smoke tossing cheap warband. You can make the smoke toss a normal roll if the enemy attack doesn't cross the template. But tossing it directly on the enemy trooper, blinding him completely from all angle, and claiming you are doing it as a normal roll with him unable to oppose when he's seeing you toss it it is really low.
Really low. Also, that ghazi couldn't walk through the biker at 13:46. You can only move through friendly models with a smaller silhouette value.
It's an easy one to confuse however; as this IS an option in Active turn for smoke carrying models (you can choose to just throw a smoke grenade unopposed onto a model that is ARO-ing AGAINST you, just like you can choose to ignore him completely to push a button, etc. You just can't do it reactively as you are forced to target the acting model in ARO (even if you're using a Targetless weapon).
rule source ? or we may as well choose to BS Attack an enemy and choose to ignore him like we can ignore him when pushing button. When pushing button, you ignore not because you CHOSE TO but because it does not fulfill the condition for it to be FtF. Or if you really chose to ignore the enemy when pressing a button, then logically you would be able to also instead chose to not ignore him and then what ? you'll claim you can push button as FtF (so that you can survive for a second attempt) ? When using your BS Attack with a smoke ammunition weapon, you can choose the point where you target, if that point does not block LoF, then effectively you made a choice (the choice of target point) that result in the special effect to not trigger. But if that point block LoF, then there is no choice, your BS Attack must be FtF with the enemy BS Attack.
That's not how smoke ammunition works. If the template blocks the LoF between the models, it is a FtF roll. Every time, with the exception of models with MSV2/3.
