I would like to point out that recruiting only among the Swiss means that the Guards may be nightmares at ambush attacks, but they will never be any fun at parties. Trolling is the appropriate response to irrational demands for powercreep. Thank you for keeping this thread amusing.
You could very well be right. It has been useful for me in the past, but maybe I just don't fully appreciate it because of its subtle effects.
Plasma and HRMC are two weapons technologically advanced enough to be Swiss Guard worthy. I'll love to see a HRMC Swiss Guard
Ah, lots of dreams... (not my dreams) There was a position about Swiss Guard and booster packs. That it was only for Code One and “who cares about sectorials”. Well, I think, other booster packs are useful (or at least should be) also for those, who’s playing normal game. Miniatures could be separated from vanilla mix and play in their unique places (not sure about O-12, but lots of things in future for them) Plus some of them can’t be get the other way now. So, booster packs are not only for code one. And Swiss Guard still an orphan of abandoned sectorial. (People create such topics cause they want they anywhere specific) But my comment is close to off topic. Continue your plasma discussions. I read them. Interesting. (About experimental weapons - remember about secret bases on Svalarheima... (Vargar background) where such things are tested by PanO... not sure, SG got some of this first.)
Having orphaned troopers left over from retired Sectorials isn't unusual. Chasseur, Mirage-5, Akal, Djanbazan, Penthesilea, 45th Highlanders, and others were still available after their Sectorial was put on pause.
I wish them find their home... just that. May be I am a little sentimental. And I am not sure, is it pause or completely stop.
Pause, quite definitely pause. They've never said how long it'll be but they do want to cycle back around to the out of production Sectorials at some point. Bear in mind that in terms of the game the OOP Sectorials are just as valid as any other, so those miniatures still have a home, and Vanilla players are also very much a thing.
I think plasma wouldn't make much sense, but a K1 MMR would be a pretty cool profile for something like a Swiss Guard, and would be cutting-edge tech cribbed from the aliens.
It could also be that the top of the range, bleeding edge targeting gear that provides BS15 is only calibrated for certain common weapons with exhaustively studied ballistics. Combining prototype weapons with near-prototype quantronic hardware and software might make Windows Vista look reliable!
Something like a K1 Marksman Rifle would be an excellent option for the Swiss Guard. I would have said MULTI Rifle, but the Aquila picked that up, and it works to make them more interesting.
a new weapon that I think would be really cool to add to the extra elite models in the human factions that I would absolutely love. It would also show an advancement of tech and extremely nice on the board but not be too op (depending on price of model, I hope). multi-spitfire add it as the expensive weapon to only the premier troops that are supposed to be literally cutting edge. such as: aquilla/swiss. achilles/asura, tarik, gamma/omega, maybe krize for nomads(?) but would show a new development of an advanced weapon to be a cutting weapon for the models that are supposed to be wielding those type of weapon, help them handle some heavy armor as well.
TBH if I was going to add a profile to the Swiss Guard it would be a Plasma Carbine and Light Shotgun KHD.
If I got to pick one gun for Swiss Guards to really sell them as top-of-the-line, it would be to just give the MULTI Rifle Hacker profile BS Attack: DA. It'd have to be costly, but would give them firepower almost on par with the exotics while remaining versatile.
