Gday guys, after Cancon I want to start playing bakunin, I have bought the starter, morlock box and have some other bits and bobs lying around at home and have made the following list to start off.
Any advice on playing bakunin as a whole? any glaring weaknesses in my list. advice on strengths and weaknesses of Bakunin would be super helpful too.
the groups are not set in stone but the list as a whole is pretty much what im looking at working with to start with.
edit kusanagi is lt. custodier is not oops!@

This looks like a good list. If you find that the harris team is a bit squishy you can switch it up with a harris of grrls.

Be aware that Bakunin has a lot of short range options but can have a tough time dealing with things at range. The prowlers with spitfires help, as do the SWAST. But I love the grrls with the missile launcher.

A fine start. Nothing wrong with it at all. You might want a sniper or something to use the Moderator link more defensively, but its still fine. One of Bakunin's big advantages is the Grrls link. I wouldn't change this list to include it but its a good second list option. It's also worth trying out Bran. He's a super fun model to play around with.

As norsecompass pointed out your list lacks an offensive long range weapon like a Multi sniper rifle or ML.
IMO a Moderator with MSR is a good choice. Also I'd suggest to get rid of two of the 2nd CG's Morlocks and maybe get some more regular orders (e.g. a Transductor Zond, a 6th Moderator, etc) and the Remaining Morlocks might get different loadouts - the CRAPAP(Chain Rifle, Assault Pistol & AP CCW) Morlock shines here and the E/M CCW is always nice.

Anything else is basically up to your personal play style.
Kusanagi's Haris of crazy Nuns is ok but I'd reccomend to make one of the Mods the Lt. otherwise you lose not only a bunch of points but also your Lt. Believe me: Kusanagi dies faster than you'd think!

actually a good point. I was taking kusanagi as lt as initially she had multirifle so benefitted from it. The wip 14 for inititiative is still juicy though but probably worth swapping to the moderator.
as for the morlocks at least initially its just a matter of what i have but I may take that reccomendation on. however the morlocks are there in numbers to help bubble wrap the haris from templates

Ultimately, its good enough to play, decide what worked and decide where you want to go from there. :)

I would consider consolidating the Lunokhod and either the Sin Eater or Rev Healer into a Taskmaster plus whatever else you can fit (preferably a transductor to maybe help your hackers increase their range?). He'll give you the DZ Crazy Koalas and can potentially fill your (as mentioned above) long range needs and can really do some damage as he moves up.

Edit: Just read the bit about wanting to start with those models. This is definitely good enough to play as is, so take the above as a suggestion moving forward.

Your main weakness would probably be an MSV2 sniper pinning you down because you can't smoke past it. Doubly so if they are linked. Zeros can do it but getting them close enough can be unreliable.

Moderator MSR as everyone suggested would help. Prowler Spitfire or a Chimera (cuz of eclipse) can do it too. Any HMG can do a lot except for Sin Eater.

A good player will be able to use the Zeroes to manage through in a lot of games so it's not like you're defenseless.

Don't forget the Custodia's White Noise. With this and a Spitfire Prowler / Kusanagi / Reaktion Zond any MSV troop will have a hard time.

im definately worried about the hardcounters to the list. but im glad that the meat and potatoes of the list are good enough to play and make adjustments to.

You should try and see if you can't nudge this up by one more order to reach the full ten. If you get first turn, after you are burnt two orders via your opponent using a command token, that's only six orders to spend on your main hitters, which will rarely be enough.

Personally, I'd try to swap this out for a MULTI Sniper. Moderators are probably one of the weakest line infantry in the game outside of niche situations (such as against Viral ammunition) given they have no armour whatsoever. They also have a relatively low Ballistic Skill, meaning they're going to flub rolls more often than not. The point of taking a Spitfire is primarily to try and seek crits, but a Moderator link is almost entirely a defensive unit that you want generating orders and providing long range AROs rather than trying to move up the board.

Have you considered dropping this to just run a generic Combi Rifle profile? You only really have two models in your list that could be your Lieutenant, Kusanagi and the Custodier. Running this as a generic profile would bump this up to three, which will help keep your opponent guessing. Moderator hackers are actually quite good, however are overshadowed by better hackers in your Custodiers. The only time they are of much use is to throw Supportware on a Reaktion Zond your Custodier is too far away from. You also already have another specialist in the link, so it's not like they can't already do objectives in a pinch.

I've used this trio myself. I have a personal preference for the MULTI Rifle Kusanagi rather than the Spitfire one, but this really comes down to personal preference between the utility provided by MULTI ammunition on the rifle coupled with E/M Grenades and her Light Flamethrower, or the extra burst and slightly better range bands on the Spitfire. The main issue with this fireteam is something that applies to all fireteams that contain hackers yet aren't large enough to grant SSL2: a clever opponent will predict your path of movement and a single well placed hacker will ruin your day.

I notice all your Morlock profiles are the same, but you might want to look the profile that has the Assault Pistol. If you're in range to use a Chain Rifle, then you're also in good range to use an Assault Pistol, and against solo opponents only shooting at you with rifles or combi-rifles I find an Assault Pistol has the ability to often neutralise their shot back while killing them just as dead. If your opponent elects to dodge, then they suddenly have to dodge four dice rather than a template or two dice from the standard pistol.

You are definitely doing the right thing having four of them in one group, though, so you can co-ordinated order the absolute heck out of them.

In the current ITS season there isn't so much to Forward Observe anymore. If you can find the SWC turning this into a Minelayer would probably serve you a little better, especially if you go second!

Both these pieces are things I would at least rejig. You don't have any real long range firepower right now, with nothing having good rangebands outside of a Spitfire's 24". The Lunokhod in particular is a close range beatstick, but you already have a trio of nuns running up the field that will already be doing that job fairly effectively. The Sin Eater can be quite effective, but you might want to see how you fare with him: from experience, the HMG model goes down only marginally less easier than a Reaktion Zond but costs more points and more SWC, but I've had good experiences using the Mk12 model and deploying him out of sight of the opponent guarding a potential firelane or rambo run down a flank.

Overall this is a pretty good start, and you have the right idea building around a Moderator link and a Custodier/Kusanagi/Healer haris but at the very least I would suggest trying to think about how you might adjust it in case you face enemy TAGs, anything with MSV, or TR Remotes.

I like your list a lot. It is very close to a list i use for Highly Classified and consider my "all commers list." It's not super focused on one thing but has answers to a lot of stuff. The big difference here is that i use the MSR moderator for long rang threat. And an engineer to fix the remote.

Yes, it has weaknesses that have been pointed out by people here. And i agree with them. But if played well it's a very effective list. I have done very well in tournments with it.

I would say you are on the right path for general list construction with Bakunin. But for me it's the special lists that i have the most fun with.

Cheers and welcome to the Furry Nun Club.

Thanks for the advice. the main reason for the lunokhod and the reason I feel it is clutch in this list is it is there purely for protection of your haris. The haris is clearly designed to be the main star so having koalas, hft and heavy shotgun protecting the haris i think is important. the biggest weakness i see in this lis is someone using infiltrators with mines or killer hacking devices to mess with your haris. koalas can do a good job of dissuading that i feel. but i will play and adjust. You make good points about the order pool and I will try and massage the order pools.as for sin eater HMG he is my longest range piece and in the limited games I have played with him i have loved having him around. he dies but in every instance he either kills alot before going down or is an absoloute order sink for my opponent. the fact he is reactive does mean that as my opponent gets better at dealing with him he will most likley provide me with diminishing returns.

Thanks for the advice. I have started building all my models now and am keen to kick off after cancon!
