It also means you can still play in events without having to rush out and buy a new deck. Oh, no printed ITS rules this year.
Ok, so can we start speculating what will be a new Higly Classified, and which one from the old deck is getting kick out ? (inoculation?)
Hey man, you've got good points, but a movie that is pretty much exactly what you use as an example of 'only looking for a reaction' was the best movie of 2015, because it wove an interesting narrative and wonderful characters into those explosions and the single long car chase that spanned almost the entire movie.
Yes, I'd prefer a Taqeul or a Sakiel LRL, but those models don't have an existing 3D render, and need to be done "from scratch". For those models, I can buy the "Aliens are hard to design" argument. The five I mentioned, on the other hand, are very easy to "design" and produce as the sculptors just need to pick and mix previous renders. On the mater of the Vulkan Ectros... just try it a couple of times, it's really dangerous (and very cheap for a 3-wound IP).
That's sadly how I've been feeling with my Tohaa, too. Add to that how much trouble I've been having coming up with a color scheme I've really liked and my poor Tohaa have been at the bottom of the box for me for a while.
True! And I love that movie precisely because it is an exception to the rule ;) But you get my point, right? Nothing wrong with car chases and explosions, but don't try to pass it off as high-brow cinema.
Yet, Tohaa is the only Faction receiving no releases at all, so the "Tohaa is difficult to design" argument doesn't hold.
They say there are three options when doing a project: Done well, done fast, done cost-effective. Sadly for the Tohaa's love of threes, often only two can be picked at maximum. Your proposal leans more to fast and cost-effective, but CB really do seem to be going Well and Cost-Effective. ...cus they sure aren't going fast, that's something we can't dispute.
If everything is copy/paste but Tohaa gets no releases while the other Factions do, then it's not because "Tohaa is difficult to design". @Del S , if we look at the mistakes with the Kawaii Sentinels and the Kerail Preceptors, "done well" is also false for the Tohaa. We are only left with Cost-Effective. As Tohaa doesn't seem to sell well enought, looks like releasing nothing for them is pretty cost-effective...
I'm glad CB is being careful with new Tohaa releases. The internal balance of that faction is very screwy; there's a lot of things that if they added the combination of triads + mates would make broken. And unless it's as good as Sukeuls/Makauls/Kaeltars it's not going to get played anyway. The faction needs an overhaul before they add new stuff.
I don't have anything against good argumentation, but this argument is bulls***. The most player wouldn't complain about one release in a quarter year. And if it would take three times the ammount of time to design an tohaa figure, what I doupt, why we don't get one in these scedul. But Tohaa didn't get anything (repack aren't anything) in the last half year and they won't get anything in the next half year. What would anybody say, if this would happened to their faction. CB has a resource problem at the moment due to the ammount of new releases and so they cut the design for the smallest faction. I understand these behavior from a economic viewpoint and don't complain about it. But please, don't come with these far-fetched arguments.
Hey, some factions actually *lost* units recently, I seem to remember most people telling them to shut up and like it.
Have I wrote this? No! It happened at my real start with Infinity. At these time I didn't care about the change, cause it wasn't my faction. Now, that I understand the rules, I can understand YJ player. Yes, YJ didn't lost any position ( midfield control etc. ), but for a non tourney player, the changes where enormous and you have to change your play style. It was the nearest change to an edition change in 40k. As an non affected player, I like the fluff, but I can today really understand the problems of the YJ player with these decision.
@Ben Kenobi it's just the time to buy all the Tohaa models you don't have, and try to paint them, and, ofcourse, save some money for the future :D You cannot do anything else, let's wait for the Kurage results, let's see the next ITS plot and let's see the next ITS challenge, and try to enjoy the maximum you can while we wait for the next Tohaa releases :D
aaargh! I hate the deck since it came out, it is the worst thing that has ever happened to Infinity imho. I could foresee that the cards would change and it would add to the annoyance that is classified objectives. Now 2 cards will change, and using an old deck will look more and more silly. So if I want to play tournaments, I will have to get a new deck someday. The best thing they could do to the classified deck is to get rid of it.
I'll do this, cause I started this year, there is a lot to do The classified deck is in my opinion one of the best things, that happened to Infinity. It's a good answer against highly optimized lists. Do you want to go for all possible hc or do you gamble.
@Ben Kenobi I started Tohaa earlier this year as well, and I have have stopped worriying about them altogether. I actually feel like now is a better time as any to start tohaa. Sure not having miniatures for Sakiels is un believably annoying since they are a core element of many triads. Appart from this we are missing the Taqeul, but I am not that wooed by the profile and am more interested by Rasail & Kumotails for this solo killer role. As someone said on the Tohaa subforum, we don't need new profiles (at all dare I say) and appart from the 2 mentionned above, you can field any unit or proxy it by the same unit with a different weapon.
And even when it comes to Sakiels, Spitfire and Viral Combi sculpts are available. Only Combi and LRL are missing. I think they might get a blister or something instead of a box.
