Took me long enough to actually have a go at painting Infinity minis but am actually enjoying the Zuyong so far. Just trying to keep it simple so I can repeat on the other minis really (something I don't usually do). Here's where I'm up to so far. Obviously (hopefully) you can see what I'm heading for with the missile launcher.
Great start Forté! The armour looks nicely weather beaten but still neat! Did it take you long to accomplish?
Not finished yet. Still have more highlights to do on each colour. Might darken all the cables again too. That's a few hours so far. I'm one of those that enjoys painting though.
Did more on the missile launcher tonight. Need to do the following: 2 highlights on the weapons lighter highlight on the red eye lenses picked out base finished and marked 180° markings maybe Still going quicker than my usual methods. Honestly.
Finished the Missile Launcher Zuyong. Went quicker than I thought it would really. Likely to tweak what I did a bit on others though.
Made some progress on the combi rifle Zuyong today. Reckon one more session should finish the off. Decided to add a light green stripe on them too. Not sure why. Maybe just to break up the red a little.
Two done now. And a group shot so far (all two of them). Need to decide on a colour for the other parts on the more specialised troops.
I'm considering making the textured parts of the specialized troops to be MOLLE gear, the stripes are nylon web-straps over cloth or soft-side velcro, usually all the same color: The purpose of the straps is to give a place to attach other pouches with maximum customization flexibility.
More thinking of the dark blue/black parts on troops like the Daoying though I'm thinking just doing that would likely work anyway.
Did the base colours and shading wash on the next two Zuyong while waiting for some Milliput to cure on something not for gaming. Base colours: After an black/blue ink wash (with some glaze medium, matte varnish, and a bit of water). And some Army Painter Strong Tone on the base too.
Started the highlighting now. Grey is done now. Red areas next before green and weapons. Then final white highlights and markings.
@Forté Everything looks great so far. You're going to have a nicely painted force with all the care that is going into this project.
Being honest, I'm just keeping these pretty straightforward compared to my more display aimed painting. But very much looking forward to having a painted force that I'm happy with. Will be the first time since playing Blood Bowl in the 80s-90s. This is my non-gaming stuff. Putty & Paint Cheers
@Forté I recognize that Tooth Fairy model. Always thought it was an excellent portrayal of the creature in question. I have to ask, how did you manage the cube of water with the stingray inside of it? I've always wanted to do art like that on a 28mm-32mm scale but haven't been successful so far.
Thank you. That was using Pebeo Crystal Resin tinted with some acrylic ink. Made a barrier using 2mm thick clear acrylic stuck in place with superglue and all joins covered with blutac so it was water tight. That one is quite deep and I did it all in one pour which is risky and there are flaws in the resin with bubbles, but I'm happy with it still.
Thank you for the reply. I'll need to hunt down some clear acrylic. Do you know of any place where you can get the stuff? Especially for round bases in the common sizes for wargaming?
