I just wish Kaplan were available for more factions. In my opinion they fit perfectly for StarCo, and should be included in the Sof-Mode as NA2-Mercs.
It would have been a great chance to make the battle packs into NA2 army boxes: Foreign Company is Nomads + Pano, and a few Icestorm profiles fit, but why Alguacils and not Securitate, why Spektr and not Zero, and why not a Croc Man? Well, and Dahshat is Haqq + Yu Jing, but again, only few of the Profiles from Red Veil match the new NA2. So the next Merc army will be Aleph + Ariadna? Hm, might get interesting...
I'd say it is a stretch, but the station they both based out of for Wotan kinds of gives some precedence
Man I'm pumped for Dahshat tbh. Brawlers, YJ REMs, Zuyongs, a Hulang and Saito in a Haqq Sectoral is really nice.
I am curious if this list is playable, with the link team rules of Foreign Company and the Soldiers of Fortune and especially if Strategic Deployment has any effect on it: Foreign Company ────────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 HANNIBAL Lt. MULTI Marksmen Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 41) SEÑOR MASSACRE Boarding Shotgun, E/M Grenades, Eclipse Grenades / Pistol, AP CCW, E/M CCW. (0 | 26) VALKYRIEHeavy Shotgun / Heavy Pistol, Exp CCW. (0 | 35) AVICENNA Combi Rifle, Flash Pulse / Pistol, Knife. (0 | 27) LAXMEE SMG + Pitcher / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 35) KAPLAN MULTI Sniper Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (1.5 | 30) KAPLAN Spitfire / Pistol, Knife. (1 | 28) CROC MAN Hacker (Assault Hacking Device) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 36) PATHFINDER DRONBOT Combi Rifle, Sniffer / Electric Pulse. (0 | 16) PEACEMAKER Spitfire + AUXBOT_3 / Electric Pulse. (1 | 27) AUXBOT_3 Heavy Flamethrower / Electric Pulse. (- | 4) 6 SWC | 300 Points The Pathfinder could also become a CSU if they also can link with the SoF or Kaplan, so you get a full Link Team plus Haris, but no MSV kinda forces the Sensor a tiny bit. Anyways pretty curious now if this becomes viable!
What kind of yj units do you think should have been in? I personally don't think DC is a disappointment atleast I'll wait until I try them out but I think switching out ghulams for zhanshi would have been a good move. The only real reason why would be for zhanshi link teams since they're never really used.
If you use the Aristeia! minis for FC, how to deal with the larger bases - aren't those 30mm instead of 25mm?
The Asian aspect of the Company is made up of Chinese Muslims. So certain units would be out of the question like the Imperial Secret Service (I.S.S.) sectorial units. The only I.S.S. units that I think could possibly be in Dashat are the Wu Ming since they also have Bashi Bazouks as troops. Which have questionable morals at best. The problem is that Wu Ming are already a part of Ikari so CB not using them again does make sense. As I look through Yu Jing's units it is difficult to choose which would fit into Dashat based on lore. I think CB should have added at least one more unit to the sectorial to make the Yu Jing presence more visible. The Hulang Shocktroopers were a surprise I didn't expect. I didn't think the Empire would loan that level of unit to a Merc company. Still it seems that any possible Yu Jing unit that could be in Dashat is sonething they wouldn't want to share. Too powerful, important/unique or expensive to risk loaning or trading outside the state army. Though my opinion choice from the Invincible Army units would be the Haidao. It is on a lower level of skill/tech than the Hulang and it profiles are useful giving Dashat a nice HI specialist that would be used in the sectorial. The more I look at it, the more I wish that CB would allow a single Haidao in Dashat just like they allowed a single Hulang. That inclusion alone would give more Yu Jing flavor to the sectorial which currently feels non-existant. For those out there who think the Shang-Ji would be a good choice and allow the unit to see actual use. The small bit of lore about the Shang-Ji states that it is an armor that is used by the best of the best in the Zuyong. So the idea that Yu Jing would allow either loaning their Shang-Ji or trading the armor of that unit seems out of the question. Haidao makes a much better choice both gameplay wise and possibly lore wise to be in Dashat's armory for the Chinese Muslims to use.
I agree that of the existing YJ troops, Zuyong, Hulang, and Wu Ming make the most sense. For me I think of these troops as not actual YJ troops. Just the Dahshat equivalent, but they come close. I thought maybe Shaolin but now I think one stretch could be the Kanren. The reason is becasue of all of the bounty hunters, Sforza, and Ashcroft. You can think of him as a lone agent hunting down a target.
we got the bolt upgrades for Foreign Company :) I like the base loadout used for haris is BSg+Drop Bears rather than Combi+LSg. (moving the picture outside the Quote, for resize reason)
I never knew why people crapped on Bolts before but now they seem even better! Freeking E/Maulers!!? Love those on Bashi Bozuk.
Because they were overpriced and bad, and now they are not so are good. Ironic that panO only gets nice things because they need to make the new NA2 faction interesting :P
Because as the first profile shows, they were each at least 2 points too expensive for what they brought. Across a fireteam that equated to a 10 point handicap, which is the equivalent of missing out on an order each turn. Also they were (are) slow MI that want to get to <8" range with no way to close that gap, so the loss of 1 order per turn hurt even more. With the FD1 in ITSX and the linkable Machinist they got a lot better, but still couldn't really hold a candle to the other stuff in the sectorial which didn't synergise with them. This change is frankly godly, they already tanked mines and ignored E/M, now they replace the deployables with their own while dragging a host of different toolboxes or specialists (Doctor, Engineer, Anti-camo, MSV 3!)
Maybe it's because I don't play PanO but they don't seem expensive to me at all. I've found Vet1 worth it alone. They are no Druze but they are not bad either.
Because you're not the average PanO player who only plays cost point optimised units and says the rest is garbage. The old Bolts were good in the pre-Uprising universe. But few PanO players wanted to play them because they aren't used to play things like Govad or Muyibs who are bloat all over the place if you think like most of PanO players think. Now they needed a bit more and since Combi+LSG and Veteran+Bioimmunity are cheaper than they were, this cost drop was needed. The main good point is an easy access to DB, a weapon they were the first to have access but other units began to have access while there was still only one profile for them. Now, I think things are pretty much wonderful. In FC, they will bring you a lot of stuff you will be enjoyed to have.
Tangential: I am definitely waiting to see who paints an A-Team van up to use as terrain with their FC first. Definitely going to be an American, I think.
