The Oniwaban might be the best CB sculpt ever. I'd like some new Keisotsu, preferably quickly. I'm contemplating a repaint.

    Keisotsu and Oniwanban
They are tired old Scopes that honestly hold people back from wanting to purchase a JSA Army because they're basic troops.

And the Oniwanban is a relic as well that could be as incredible as the new Hsien model

I'm surprised by the hate the O-yoroi gets. I think its one of the best looking TAGs in the game. Amusingly, I find the artwork of the O-yoroi too fat and more ugly.

I've recently learned that O-Yoroi can be a boss if painted well.
To be honest, only two things bothered me about it: it basically consisting of pointy bits and those monstrous tights. Well, the former is understandable since it's made to look as anime as possible. The latter, as it turns out, looks way better when somebody able realizes it's an okay surface for some freehand.

"Big Thighs" is one of the defining Yu Jing aesthetics according to the design notes in Artbook 1, there's no guarantee a resculpt wouldn't have even larger thighs (and it would be glorious!)

I find its pose to be more problematic than anything. The head and left arm is definitely trying to be Unit-01, but then the other arm is doing the same thing, making it look surprised or something. I do think it looks better down on the table when looking from above, but its an awkward looking model looking straight at it for sure.

Is this hypothetical, or is JSA actually receiving resculpts?

I wholy agree with this and are the exact same reasons why I voted the Haramaki to be reesculpted

JSA will be receiving resculpts, that much is pretty much guaranteed, and probably this year. I don't think we know which ones. All we've had somewhat confirmed is that there's a new hitherto unknown unit coming for JSA.

Voted for Keisotsu and O-Yoroi. I do like the current keisotsu, but the are tiny! The O-Yoroi has always looked really weird to me, and not in a good way.

Yeah, the Shikami is interesting, but not interesting enough that a second model is warranted over Keisotsu, Haramaki or Oyama resculpt or even any given Tohaa without models.

The existing model is only like what, 4 months old? And already covers every single weapon profile the Shikami has because it's just a melee weapon model that works for any of them.

I can't seem to ever get them to do anything useful that doesn't leave me asking why did I spend points on this and not a Hac Tao or a Shinobu/Oniwaban.

Shikami would be damn sweet if it could get a gun that just didn't leave it feeling anemic. Even something like a Multi Rifle or a Spitfire would help. Otherwise it just feels like you're spending a crapload of orders to push something up the board that jumps out at your opponent and shouts "Hahaa! Fear my mighty combi rifle you pleb!" because without smoke or a camo state he can't reliably actually make CC to use that aspect.

I often run them in duo links if I have the points and use their mobility and nimbus grenades to get into a position where I can either get the jump (meant literally) on the enemy and CC og move into their back arch.
Apart from that when you have ODD and the mobility to come at the opponent from weird angles a combi rifle can do plenty of damage, as long as you don't try to shoot strong HI.

See I find they all too often get stopped in their tracks by a link team or a high BS model from a range their combi rifle is shitty at. Like a Ghulam link team or something, if you can't get a shot from within 16" which can be pretty sketchy, even if you try to even shit up with a nimbus grenade things get hairy when you're rolling shots on BS6 and a Ghulam with a Sniper/Marksman is firing back at 8s/9s. Or hell even a TR bot is a pain in the ass to deal with, you fire 3 dice on 6s over 16", it shoots back at 4 on 5s. You probably even statistically lose that.

All they need is a spitfire/hmg profiles and it'd be ok, hell I'd even settle for marksman rifle. Just that 24" range band to help them pick their way up the board into a good position and not get stuck and need some other model to help dig their expensive ass out of trouble. If they couldn't have that then even Infiltration would do miles in helping them compete with other choices so they could at least act as a hyper efficient beefy specialist. Right now they take too many orders to shove around and if you run them as a duo they're inefficient for many missions because you're clustering nearly a 100pts of specialists in one spot.

Too unreliable and order intensive to be worthwhile taking I've found. I'd never take them, even in JSA when I can run a group of models like Saito, Kitsune, and Oniwabans who can all start up the board with infiltration and camo/hidden states and may also have smoke.

Sure they Don work well outside of 16, but most times you can mover around that using walls or the like. But yes they aren't straight forward and it would be awesome to habe them 6/4.

But I follow you on the issue, I felt the same about the domaru before they got the spitfire. But I feel that with these it is less of an issue due to ODD and mobility.

About the fireteam, they aren't that clumped. They can move up within 8 and then spread out on multiple objectives..

But yes they aren't the strongest unit, but with a bit of alternative playstyle they are pretty decent..

I dunno about that. Experience for me is that trying to split a fireteam's movement up like that is just gonna wind up with them getting cut off from each other by AROs and then you've got to muck about extricating them which we've covered they're pretty crap at because of a lack of weapons and need help. Maybe if you're planning to just move up to close objectives then break the duo but then you're right back to why on earth am I wasting points (and SWC!) on this just bring a Ninja and Infiltrate straight onto it, it's more order efficient then spend the extra points on an actually effective rambo unit, it's not like Yu Jing is short on those to pick from.
