I knew that the Play by Intent argument was getting heated, but damn, actual fighting. Sympathies, man. I hope you gave as good as you got. @Engorn: I will re-pledge those 3 Yu Jing again. Eventually I will finish them. Or they will finish me.
Well, my dentist IS a wargamer. Unfortunately, he doesn't play infinity, and I'm painting a ton of his non-infinity models for the balance of my shiny new tooth implant... Lol.
Up next, due for a tournement with a painting requirement in five short, short days: x1 Mulebot x2 Fat Yuan Yuan. At this this week, I am planning a conventional base for the yuan yuan, not the rocket pack, although I've reserved for future display x4 Acontecemento Regulars.
I finished the second half of the devil dog unit. Now onto one of the Mavericks. I'm trying to get this guy 200 points in so he can play a game, and then build him out to 300 points.
Taylor, could you go over in broad terms your painting process? You seem to be getting quite good results in short periods of time. Is this work hand brush or air brush? Do you rely on washes, or wet blending or layering?
I can probably do one better for you, Mike. I wrote up a painting tutorial about a year ago on a regional gaming forum. The site has been shut down, but I know the guy with the archive and I can probably find it for you. I've been painting for a long time - 25 years, and this is the technique I've developed for speed, as I do a lot of commission painting. The first step after priming is I'll paint an entire model one colour - typically the colour that covers most of the model. Here is the album for the basic set up of the base coat. https://imgur.com/a/r3JqH Then I apply washes. Then highlights. If you're feeling especially brave, and you have an airbrush, I apply a thin mask on the model. A mask is basically 1:15 parts either sepia or black ink to water, and you just spray it all over the model. It will just act as a quick blending agent and tie any colours together. It makes a big difference, and I bet that's what you're seeing in the end result. Here is an example of a non-infinity model (sorry!) With a mask (That Druze didn't get masked). You can see how the sepia brings it all together. I hope that helps!
Well, Nexus Hacker on the same page as both my Legates and Unidrons (first photo is from yesterday, when I based the mini): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1swqgXFnPNknlpN77SzxsGRRxQZ22LDGf/view Finished "product" ^^ https://drive.google.com/file/d/12WVni93mTnsUUpHONb4yxoJrD2EuMM1Z/view https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kIVSczoQ-5KfYrcO5bVKKIljJ3wgx3WP/view

@Engorn Just for the fun of testing a new paint, I pledge those two bikes that should have been done this summer. And the result of the testing so far There's a big chance that I restart them from scratch next month, but, just in case I can get something done this month.
@Engorn -Kanren, Ko Dali, Speculo & Anatemático acabados.
I'm going to get these three painted while I wait on my other minis to come in. The midnight sun analyst will probably be my szalamandra pilot but the other two will have to wait for another list.
Almost done the spec op for my client. I converted him by switching up his chain rifle with an HMG. He's not completely finished, but he's getting close and I wanted to share.
My client's "counts-as" dozer is finished. One more model and I'm done his 200 points and he'll be ready to go for some beginner games next Saturday.
Completed, two Fat Yuan Yuans, as needed for the Waupaca Narrative games this past weekend. (which was *awesomely* fun.) 1) I wanted a playable piece, so I mounted my "action pose" yuan yuan on a normal base, vs. the flaming landing version. 2) I LOST the head of the noodle-eating yuan yuan, but luckily found a fat bald man on a reaper bones figure in my painting queue, so model saved by adding that alternative head.
