Pretty gruesome for my shaky hands. ;) Nah, it was okay actually. Mostly drawing straight lines horizontally and vertically. You just have to think about the order to do them in, and keep the colour of the later ones fairly transparent. Gesendet von meinem Pixel 3a mit Tapatalk
As my son brought us all kinds of illness from the kindergarden i really wasn´t in shape to achieve anything big. As airbrushdust and the flu aren´t really friends with one another i started with some druze in the meantime but didn´t come very far. Due to the pandemic kindergarden is closed now and i have to play with the little guy all day, so that is an additional hindrance for painting up minis. Today I finally was able to finish up the work with the Airbrush and will now go on with the paintbrush. i think for a firsttime working with an airbrush i managed some nice transitions from darkest blue to a bright, shiny blue. Highlights in white will be done with the brush, as will be done shades in blackblue. The question is: What do i start with? Imperial service, Invincible Army or White Banner?
Aye, I'd probably recommend a small section to warm up with - so the madtraps / koala's and tinbots all together, gives you a nice painted group to keep the motivation whilst you recover :)
Getting Maggie primed is not easier now than in 1979 but here she comes. Quite challenging to have her complete within one week but I have to start somewhere. I will follow some of AG's guidances but will apply some mixed technics as my recent minis have been pretty rewarding.
Looking forward to seeing your Maggie, Koin-Koin! I've managed to finish my December pledge just before Christmas, so I'm free to do whatever I want for the rest of the year, yay! Hm... what minis should I paint? :D
Let's be honest. Maggie's as intimidating to paint as she may be on the battlefield. So saying that I was hesitating to start is a bit of an understatement. I could either try to go the airbrush way and use some masking to try to go "fast". Or stick with the brush technic I use lately and get my brain accept the idea that it will take more time for a result that I may dislike. Fortunately I kept her in several pieces so I choose to start with the tail and see how it goes. In case I'm not happy It will be less work to strip the paint and get it re-primed. I'm taking more pics than usual as, depending on the final result, I may want to make a full thread of her so it may help motivate painters with basic skills like myself to start such project. Here is how it goes so far (from left to right, up to down): one cold grey (not so) dry-brush, one pale sand dry-brush and one white (very) dry-brush dark grey glaze for NMM parts dark sand / heavy khaki 50/50 mix glaze for armour plates red glaze on missiles and white edge lining (and white balance correction)
@Koin-Koin Sometimes simply making a start and putting a couple of layers of paint can really lift the confidence and direction of where you want to take the miniature. It's definitely taking off and taking shape, I'll be looking forward to your progress! My Maggie arrived last week finally and I know I'll be in your same position when I get around to it :)
Not sure she done but I'll call it just in time for new year's eve meal Honestly, I didn't expect to went this far with her by the end of the month. Nor with this result either (even if the picture looks better than the model to me). Anyway, I wish everyone a great new year's eve.
As the new thread is not already created, I will do as if we're still last month Extra close up as I magnetized parts so I can swap weapons.
