Has anyone faced off against the big VIRD with our DBS? Any lessons learned? Advice? Cautionary tales? Laughs?

    Why I chose this list:

I am a big fan of the 2x Multi snipers in a core link for DBS. Other discussions have been had in this sub-forum, but I'll sum it up by saying I believe the Druze Multi Sniper out-performs the HMG in a lot of situations. A Clipper in the team would allow me to threaten any defensive team my opponent would bring and maybe provide some useful AROs. Valerya was there to fill holes and buff the REMs, while the KHD benefited from sixth sense in the link. (I often include Valerya in the team, but chose to duo with the Brawler LT nearby.

I also wanted to make sure I had enough specialists to get the job done. We don't have much in the way of super durable specialists, so I knew camo was going to be my friend here. Additionally, my core team's presence was going to be hamstrung a bit by the giant objective room blocking LoS. I chose 2x FO Hunzakut and Special Saito. The plan was to protect Saito with some mines and block the doors at the same time.

    The Game - Turn 1:
I won the role and chose to go second. My opponent made me deploy first, so I took advantage of Vet lv. 1 to get the Druze into the cover of a 3 story building with a decent vantage point. They spread out across all three floors. I would be able to protect my close entrance to the armory, a decent part of my DZ, and a really nice lane over my right side of the table. A Hunzakut took each flank with Saito hiding close to the entrance of my near door. Next to the invisible Saito was the HFT Auxbot, with the Peacemaker right behind, in cover. A Fugazi and Pathfinder covered the left flank and the Hunzakut on that side.

My opponent chose to deploy his team over a lane on my left flank, rather than be in a fireteam fight right off the get-go (my snipers were left out on ARO). This ended up being the right move, as he essentially shut down my left entrance to the room. The rest of his decoys and camo tokens spread out in cover and the biker took my far left flank. He also had an Echo-Bravo with a Red Fury, so the list I put up isn't the most accurate. Take it with a grain of salt.
    Top of 1:
VIRD started off my sliding a camo dude up my right flank, trying to cross a lane and get to the door. My team discovered him, but he was otherwise safe.I believe this was the Spitfire Zulu? He positioned to cover his near armory entrance.

Then his pathfinder took point, running across his DZ and up my left flank, tanking shots the whole way. It was able to open the Armory and the real fun began. The Zulu mentioned earlier tried to slide into the room and blast the Peacemaker, but got shredded by my Heavy Shotgun. Not only was this a bit lucky, but the template ended up hitting another Zulu or Helot. Both of my opponent's units dropped into unconscious.

His feuerbach did some work taking out my own pathfinder, and his biker stayed safe for the round.
    Bottom of 1:
My left-Hunzakut came out and set a mine for the biker to run into while the fugazi positioned for flash pulse ARO next turn.

The Aux Bot ran into the room with the peacemaker right behind, shuffling to get an angle on the pathfinder who opened the doors. Obviously the peacemaker was too big for the room, but shots were fired and a big flame template was dropped. The Pathfinder was turned into a useless wreck. As luck would have it, my shotgun template was dropped on another Helot, granting me yet another two-fer. MVP?

With the entrances cleared and protected by my Peacemaker + Aux Bot, Saito strolled in and grabbed MSV1 out of the near Panoply before re-camoing. My right-Hunzakut shuffled a bit closer to the room, dropped a mine, and re-camoed.

I shuffled Valerya around with her LT and then brought the Bashi in on my right flank, close to my opponent's DZ.

    Turn 2 - The Top:
The biker chose to eat his impetuous rather than a mine and settled for shuffling along to blow up the fugazi watching him. A Helot Jammer moved up to the room in an attempt to jam the Aux Bot, who aced his reset rolls. a Zulu(?) moved up to kill the AuxBot and run into the room, where he was dropped my the peacemaker, leaving Saito to relax and enjoy the tranquility of an empty room.

The paramedic helped out by killing some Helots and my Opponents fireteam decided it was time to reposition, planning on grabbing the room turn 3.

The Echo-Bravo came in behind my left-Hunzakut (group 2) and smoked her with his red fury while also eating the mine like it was a big tasty bowl of breakfast cereal. This made me fairly nervous, as the location wasn't covered by my druze. I needn't have worried though, as he was too far from the action for any other major impact.

    Bottom of 2:
My remaining hunzakut ran over into the room and grabbed some smoke grenades from the far panoply before dropping back into camo. The Druze shuffled around a bit for better angles, and my Bashi snuck up on a Helot of some sort, who reacted by shooting her in in the face. He split fire with neurocinetics, killing the hollows, but failing to kill my bashi.

Valerya tossed a repeater to cover what remained of my left flank, and the killer hacker failed to do the same.

    Top of 3:
Mr. Biker tried to make a dash for the room, and got vaporized by my Druze.

The VIRD fireteam stormed the castle and hilarity ensued. My lovely, lovely Hunzakut won every single F2F roll with her light shotgun, dropping the paramedic an a Kamau. The ORC got too close to Saito, who revealed and punched him with an exploding fist. That left a hacker and Kamau in the room with my Hunzakut and Saito, meaning I won the game. I ended it with by capping my tactical objective for a perfect victory.

    DBS - 10
    VIRD - 0

    Nice battle report!
    Thank you for sharing this.
    Only one thing.
If I'm correct at the end of turn 2 the helot cannot split the Burst because he must choose a single holoeco as target for his ARO.

Good callout! Would you be able to reference the rule? It doesn’t change anything in this game, as I shot back and missed. Before realizing he had neurocinetics, my opponent had picked the wrong echo anyways. So yeah, no impact on this game, but I’d love to know for future ones!

So it was a ARO after your first short skill... In this case the helot could have hold his ARO (because the holoeco state is a "marker state") and wait in the case you reveal the real bashi with your second short skill as happened.
In this case the helot knows which one is the real bashi but suffer the surprise shot granted by the holoeco state
