Yeah, me neither. In fact, these days I try to get rid of guns at all wherever possible. I've painted too many of them XD For now though, more big guns. And a face that was VERY hard to paint in a way that doesn't look terrible. My solution: lots of make-up.
Thanks! Got her little buddy here too. Man these old minis had some strange designs back then... And here's the team once more:
You make her gorgeous and she deserved it - so much better including her cool Zondcat compared to the soulless stuff that is the resculpt.
Thanks! Here's something I finished for my own Nomads recently – a Triggerman conversion: Since nobody seems to know why Triggermen are S4 (they don't have Guard), I decided that it's because of all the... triggers? It's a pretty simple kitbash: Just little pieces and bits I had lying around all slapped on a base together with some spare weapons and the Grenzer ML lady I had originally converted into a second sniper. Since the barrels of her MSR always broke off I just gave her a less accident-prone weapon and relegated her to Triggerman duty. And hey, she can definitely proxy every loadout now :D For the console, I decided to try out one of these cool hacking effects you see in video games all the time that would never happen in real life but look cool on screen :P
Great conversion and painting! I have no idea what to make of the Triggerman profile. There are already better options for sniper/ARO duty. Perhaps S4 is a mistake. Or, it is a HI on a motorbike with guns stored all over it. Its MOV 6-2 represents the weight if a HI and all his weapons weighing down the bike, making it a slow mover.
I've had great success running her. I don't agree that there are other better ARO pieces. The Grenzer shoots better but dies the moment he loses a firefight. Szally is a TAG so in her own class. The Neurocinetics Triggerman is a whole fireteam all by herself, including a paramedic, since she regenerates on a decent 13. With Mimetism, BS13, ARM4 and two wounds, she has soaked up a lot of my opponent's orders so far. I like her a lot!
I also painted up some turrets and deployable cover for my Clockmaker. Turrets are 3D printed and gifted from a friend, the "cover" is a blast door (I don't know the manufacturer, I found it in a random bits box at our former gaming location) rotated by 90 degrees :)
Interesting, i may have to look into it a bit more. Thanks for your experience. I like the thumbs up pose. It makes her look like she is checking the range before deciding what weapon to use. Similar to a painter sizing down a scene before painting. I can imagine she is thinking, "if the TAG is the same height as my thumb, that puts him at XX range." I should use the sniper rifle.
That sounds right! I've never played 40k, so I have no idea. That's a cool interpretation, I didn't even think about that! I got two Salyut for cheap a while ago, and since baggage bots are so hot right now and I sold the one I had a long time ago, I decided to paint them up. I have to say though, I'm happy if I never have to paint Sputnik legs again. I think I painted eight of them over the last years and they're annoying to edge highlight.
Why do they look so good in olive drab? when I did mine in this colour they never looked that good...
I would guess it's because of burlesford's shading mastery. But please consider this as a praise to his work and not being judgemental toward yours. EDIT: adding the missing NOT in my last sentence
Since I don't know what yours look like, I can't say :D Increasing the saturation has definitely helped me be happier with my Salyut than the first time around. For comparison: I mean, it's just an airbrush mostly :D
