I do know of Patlabor, but wouldn't it be a bit odd for the TAG to be on loan from the regular police? After all, if the police are equipped with TAGs, why wouldn't the ISS, who presumably expect to be in high-intensity combat more often, not have their own to use?
The su-jian was initially developped to replace TAG in urban combat. So logically, any TAG the ISS includes in its roster should be an old one that was gathering dust in the depot, or still used by less favored law enforcement units.
Or they may have established with uprising that while SU Jian is great they also need actual TAGs and commissioned new ones. Both are plausible.
I get your point. But the ISS is police. But more like big government police rather than local. I think of the Su Jian as being the hunter, while the new TAG is more defensive. It's a TAG that stands in the middle of public squares on guard duty half the time. Both to ensure safety and to intimidate. I think the HMG on this is a bit "overkill" for a public safety TAG however. But then again, after Uprising, and Combined invasions, I guess they want to be prepared.

It should be at least a little bit better, judging by the few profiles we have from the new box. The Griffin is pretty much identical to an ORC HMG from N4 save for its -2 PH, but gains MSV1, a Pulzar and a Jump bonus for only 1pt. Shaving an MSV's cost off all Yu Jing's heavies might make space for one or two more real pieces in a list, though I suspect Kuang Shi, cheap REMs and the odd Zhanshi or Celestial Guard will still make up half of a Yu Jing list going forward without significant reworks.
I’m more and more curious about the Silver Snakes. They look MI but could be LI. If they are MI they could be in competition with Ye Mao and Sulyong. But the only LI we have are Zhanshi, Celestials and Zhanying. Here’s a thought. What if Silver Snakes are the new White Banner Zhanshi? Like the Fennec Fusilier and Senku troops? A new light only available to White Banner?
Nah. Zhanshis - will not look so much different. Its also unusual for line trooper LI to wear helmets (Celestials give proof to that with an exception). But you are right that WB has already enough MI. Though it is not easy nowaday to recognize MI fromt the artwork alone. Look at the JSA RF troops. While the monk one look like LI or WB they are MI in army like the MI (or even HI looking) ones with shotgun and RF. So it could be a possible elite LI. Still looks very WB-like.
Yeah that Nokizaru does NOT look like ARM 0! I think it would be good to have a troop that’s just a level above Zhanshi. You have the Zhanying for ISS and could have this SS for White Banner. I guess a comparison would be Nyoka to Kappa in O-12.
Zhanshi are literally Banner Troopers, every Banner Army has them including White Banner. They arguably fit better in White Banner than anywhere else.
Agreed. I've given up on the idea of new version of Zhanshi. Some of that is because I don't want more Zhanshi! I've got 1st, 2nd and 3rd editions of them.
What do yall consider clear looks for.... LI MI HI with Arm3, Arm4+? For me, the helmetless basic LI are pretty consistent. Druze look like the most armored MI.
I can agree mostly on bare heads but then there's some HI with bare heads too. But I usually think, except for Aleph, that only cloth and no hard points would be ARM 0. The Nokizaru does NOT look ARM 0. But of course there's always "reasons". It could be it's just an environmental suit, or it's the Climb+ gear, or just because it's tacti-cool. Yu Jing is actually pretty consistent. Zhanying, Celestials, Kanren, Guilang, all "look" ARM 1. The Pheasant could pass for MI. Tiger Soldiers look more light than MI to me. But most of the MI seem ok. And it's almost impossible to tell 2W HI from 1W+NWI HI.
NEWS! I asked Warsenal about the Hac Tao being in the White Banner Pack. They said they would look into it. They responded that yes the Hac Tao will be in White Banner in N5!

I'd better get hmg Hac Tao in blister... (like in old times, I guess. If I remember it right) Or use proxy, but of course I want actual unit if possible.

Seems i was wrong it is indeed a new tag, and they didnt mind repaeating roles with the Korean except for the heavy infantry Staple. More Invincible focused than i expected. Wonder if it implies a lower cost for them. Its gonna cause a Chuckle everytime an ISS player brings the Long Wang of the Law,
