Maybe. I'm not precisely an expert, but I still think a good knife (or going by WWII - a sharpened spade) would still be preferable
Most soldiers i served with carried simple folding knives or multi tools. I was one of the few that carried a fixed blade legit combat knife. Between two tours in Iraq, i never came close to having to use it. I did use my pocket knife and multi-tool constantly though to cut bandages, splice wires and other mundane, non-combat related tasks. Swords in modern/future combat would be a liability in reality. That being said, it makes for a fun and thematic game mechanic and cool models.
Yes, exactly! The game takes a fairly realistic approach to incorporating its fantastical elements. Unlike, say, the recent Monster Hunter movie, where monsters are somehow invulnerable to Armor-Piercing Bullets but can be cut by a Dagger. ... on a related note, am I the only one who kind of misses Knives? It's kind of weird that you can't sneak up and shank someone stealthily, considering how prevalent such moves are in "Spec Ops" style games like Splinter Cell. Or at least give Ninjas and the like a "Silent CCW" option.
