Am I wrong or was it not said early in the N5 announcements that some factions would be in Army from the start and others would be only released as a pdf. So could all of your "deleted" factions still get limited support in that pdf?
Wasn't it about N4 profils released as pdf at the release of N5 on Army? I'm not sure and can't remember where it was said.
It was said by Carlos in an interview for a separate YouTube channel. He said they are going to have pdf’s with profiles for people who want to keep plying N4 if I remember correctly. Which is a terrible idea to be honest :(
If you put together some rumours and bits of info, like "Corvus will keep all N4 resources online" "OOP sectorials will have a PDF" "Many of our game developers play MTG and like the concept of Legacy matches" you can theorize about a Tournament extra, like Free Mode or Spec Op to allow that factions in tournaments. I suppose keeping online the N4 ARMY and substitute the old weapon chart with the new one, so Damages and stuff work all the same in all the lists in the tournament, could be a patch for this situation. Not ideal and horribly executed, but playable if the organizer allow people play their old armies. Probably we'll have to wait until ITS season part 2, im sure not before December. But still, is pure speculation. If I were on the communications team, I would have made crystal this clear in minute 1 of the N5 thematic week, to clearly avoid all this panic and bad reputation the company is getting. At the moment i believe that the tournament extra is the most probable option and the "OOP armies will be playable freely in N5, but with N4 costs and equipments" option is the less likely to happen
While I understand and appreciate the emotions expressed, it is a CB business decision and they know probably better than any of us what is best for the company both in the short and in the long term. The main issue with OOP from what I understand from the various interviews is that while the OOP sectorials were clearly marked people still asked CB for the OOP miniatures, this is both a problem and a confusion for any new players. Taking a much needed step back, while I understand this is not a solution for everybody, most OOP sectorials that are out of production seem to be playable as a Generic list with minimal changes to the sectorial, maybe with some proxying to similar or equivalent profiles. Now on a more relevant note, personal attacks are prohibited, I should delete, and I may do it a bit later, quite a few posts, if more show up I may lock the thread and give some time out to the posters involved.
Just started Spiral Corp not to long ago, am big sad. But while we have been giving previews of 'cut' content, do we know if bundling or merging is also one of the goals for N5 army lists? Yes, there is reshuffling of vanilla and such, but has there been any indication that the sectorials heading out aren't being restructured or merged into others? I suppose we'll have to wait and see. Either way, Infinity is iterative. There will be an N6 and things can be revisited if desired.
With spiral corps specifically, I would expect the reborn tohaa to be very in line with it, since tohaa was retired and spiral was filling that gap, but now spiral is gone but tohaa is back.
I'm not so sure about Tohaa "being back" now. As in, they were OOP-but-playable the whole N4, effectively. Narratively, they were out due to the Daedalus Gate collapse. Spiral was the leftover. So far, we got no mention on the contact being re-estabilished, and Tohaa forces showing up in Humna Sphere again. Now, yes, I agree, it would be logical for them to find a new wormhole into Human Sphere one day, and make a return to the narrative of the game - as well as into production, as they are a very unique army. But I don't see any indicators of it being now. The Tohaa symbol in the chart is - in my eyes - indicating that "the army will remain playable on day one".
False. But even if true and some troops of OOP sectorials are available on vanilla or other sectorials, sinergies, playstyle and faction identity are not. X got axed "Just play Y, is the same" is the most infuriating thing to hear right now
I wholeheartedly agree. I also find it infuriating when faced with the argument that this is something CB HAD to do because of it being the smart business thing to do. There are many choices they can make and I personally think cutting factions is a very bad move for a minitatures/games company. I do acknowledge that we don't know exactly how this is going to pan out yet though.
I, for one, do not pretend to speak from the business point of view. It's up to CB to decide what to do. Maybe their calculations show that losing some of the old players is not such a big deal because they expect thousands of new players to join the game after the streamlined new edition launch and animation series premiere. Maybe. But I have an impression that CB is a different breed company and I hope that hearing from their players might change their opinion and approach to this subject. I might be mistaken, but it's up to me as a player (and customer) to express my opinion, right?
If you’d prefer false platitudes, perhaps you’d be better served somewhere else. As multiple posters have said multiple times, it’s a suboptimal situation, but it is, so mourn and then make a decision. However, remember that your decision is on you, no one else. Pointing out how liberal and broad the proxy rule is reinforces that if you leave the game, that’s something you chose and not something forced on you. You, personally, with highly limited and staggeringly incomplete information, believe this is the wrong choice. CB, who pay the bills and have paid the bills with in Infinity for 15+ years and who have far more and far more complete information, believe it’s the right choice to keep their company and game going. Now, choosing who to give the benefit of the doubt is a choice fit for Solomon, isn’t it?
It is worth noting, what is best for CB is almost certainly not ideal for their consumer base- ideally, they'd want to make about twice as much money on every sale and switch out the expensive Siocast for cardboard. We do actually have to provide some pushback or switch to a competitor's product in the event of poor service or products, or there'll be no business incentive for them to not screw us over.
@Koni There was a time not so long ago when Corvus Belli was making big changes to the line up of the game: Uprising, Whole Sectorials going Out-Of-Catalog, Profiles suddenly becoming unavailable for factions. This caused a lot of anxiety amongst your veteran fans and players. So you stepped to increase communication. Over time trust grew and that communication needed to be less. When items started going OOP and Last Chance in the company store people trusted that it was just re-packs, but that was only mostly true. Corvus Belli is literally selling Kamau's in the store today and had a sale on them just recently. I think it's time to start communicating again. It's clear that your posts regarding Sectorials going out of print but still being available with rules is no longer true. Can you provide an update on what the vision for factions and Sectorials is going forward? Is the plan to be constantly rotating Sectorials in and out for some factions (Pan-o Ariadna, others?)? Will some factions being keeping their base sectorial forever like Yu Jing or Nomads? Will Sectorials rotate out of existance if they aren't selling well, even if the faction doesn't have 3 secotrials yet? A trip down memory lane of what was promised and the scramble for communication during the N4 launch: https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threads/the-most-epic-battle-of-merovingia.23400/ https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threa...e-in-n4-stuck-in-n3.36792/page-10#post-328860
God damn, Will you two get a room? Or at least take each other out for dinner… Very true. No one is under any obligation to buy anything, no one is under any obligation to play any game. There is no law under all creation that would enforce this (except in the strictest most dystopian cases). To paraphrase a show I watch far too much: No one is born on purpose, nothing really matters, everyone’s gonna die. Come play some games. Look, I’m salty as hell about some of these decisions but then I’m salty as hell about most things. It doesn’t stop me from buying the miniatures from the companies I have a grievance with nor playing their games. But that’s on me, that’s my obsessive compulsive mind set (Pokémon syndrome). What others choose to do based upon what’s happened is completely up to them and I respect whatever decision they make. Grievances about game changes should be aired and have been done so by some in a tasteful and respectful manner. I’ve agreed with a number of these posts and they do help when a company wants to see what their player base thinks of what they’re doing. For example: bring back the Squalo Mk.1! (I said I’d die on this hill). TL:DR: your choices are yours. If you leave, sorry to see you go. If you stay, I’m sure you’ll add positively to the number of discussions on the forums. Either way, based upon the arguments I’ve seen from people upset by the changes and those more excited about the incoming edition, I for one will understand and respect your choices whatever they may be.
I've seen some talk concerning what is/isn't included in vanilla, is there accurate information to be had on this somewhere? I would be rather interested in this topic, as well as what fireteams they form.
