I remember in the transition from N3 to N4, with the old sectorials not being ready at launch, CB said in every ocassion and since day one, dont worry, we are doing this in this precise way, and explaining why
Devil's advocate here: In the past 2 years GW made two large miniature cut - Space Marines and Fantasy. -With the marines they retired 17 kits (units, characters, vehicles) from the mini-Marine line. It was announced 1 month-ish before the release of the Marine rulebook in an article where they also clarified that old models can be used tournament-legally as such and such profile. -In Fantasy (aka Age of Sigmar) 1 complete faction (beast of chaos with ancient models) got announced that they will be moving to the ressurrected retro section (old world) but their rules will be supported until 2025 July. After that they will have Legacy rules for the Sigmar system and active rules for the Old World system. 1 another faction (Skaven) got a complete re-sculpt, and while it was communicated that all of their then-current models will cese to exist, every one of them got a modern resculpt so no net loss happened. And a 3rd faction (Stormcast eternals aka sig-marines) lost 20 something profile / models, half of them returned with re-sculpt the others got rules support until 2025 July (and legacy rules after that time). So while it was drastic and large scale at least it was communicated in a transparent way and the rule support guaranteed.
Again, that's the whole point of this topic (and many others across the Infinity resources web) -- what is actually happening to the OPP sectorials in N5? Pray tell. At the moment we have a couple of official videos (Ariadna in N5 and Panoceania in N5) where CB directly tells us these sectorials "are gone from the playable roster until its time for them to return". I mean what can be clearer than that statement? Plus CB completely ignores concerns of players expressed in no small number which only leads to logical conclusion, that OOP armies are gone for good. But for some completely mysterious for me reason people keep popping up in these discussions saying "we don't know for sure", "of course they planned to support OOP in N5" etc I mean N5 is a huge deal for CB, like the most important release and all that. Right? Kind of telling that they are not communicating anything to calm down their players. Or even to confirm their fears. Pretty much looks like the company was caught off guard by pretty negative reaction to "gone from playable roster". I only hope that the announced delay of N5 release is caused by CB suddenly understanding that this time their actions affect way more players than portion of Yu Jing unhappy with taking away JSA units.
The crazy thing to me about all of this is that for the life of them, CB doesn't seem to be able to set up a proper communication strategy like, at all.
CB’s communication is what it is and is baked in at this point. Like it, hate it, love it, loathe it, it simply is. Deciding how to respond is all that’s left.
I can appreciate the sentiment here (serenity prayer, and all that), but I think it's flawed logic to think there's no value in communicating customer feedback to CB or that we should simply resign ourselves to what's coming / how it's being communicated (or not). Can any of us customers directly change anything? No. Does it hurt anyone to voice concerns about what's been revealed? Also, no. Will us expressing our concerns to CB make any difference? Maybe. I would hope that CB would welcome feedback from its customers. This is a CB-based forum, after all.
Try the Discord then, some folks have made the forum so unbearable than not even CB staff hang in there anymore these days, compared to before... ^^'
I checked it out and yeah, I can confirm that the forums are no longer relevant. The is a ton of cool N5 info in their. I didn't look at the other staff, but the discord is full of info direct from CB and Koni regularly responds to and chats there.
So, instead of doing his job in the official company forums, is neglecting his job and is more active in an unnoficial Discord server... Wow, so surprised (im not)
No not really, and discord is hard to read. So I @'d Koni and he was kind of enough to respond. Which I didn't screen shot, but the gist was this is the direction Corvus Belli is going and he apologized to me for the effect that's had. And there was a bit of typo in the next part, but he confirmed any invalidated minis can be used as proxies. I asked a follow up for clarification on the typo, but I don't think he saw it. I dropped out of the discord regardless. For me I have enough info to go on, and seems like they are aware of the complaints.
Koni has posted about one day a month on the discord since they revealed N5, and its mostly just dropping a couple teasers and then random yes/no to speculation (he confirmed that the new Immunity(BTS) is still bypassed by hacking attacks), then he disappears for a month. Most of the info/teasers on discord is posted by the warcors, and as far as I know it's all also posted in the big news thread on these forums too.
