A new Shaolin monk blister in February too, and Long Ya in January, looks like they're after you're money after all!
They usually get disseminated through Warcors, distributors, or social media. The ORA Critika Facebook page or Warsenal usually post them pretty early.
I really don't understand them sometimes. They come out with blisters of things you want 2-4 of. Then boxes of troops you only want 1 of.
I actually think 2 is about right for Shaolin, no Fireteam Core/Haris and N4 discourages taking too many Irregular troops.
I guess I'm not most people. I use 3 commonly. In white banner you will find yourself with 15-20pts and can't spend it on anything else. You might as well take some guards for the back.
From what I see discussed, I have gathered that most people use about 3 monks. If you wanna be a hipster you have to go down to 0 monks, 'cause anything from 1 to 4 is fairly common as monks are held in high regard in spite of the unit slot budget and irregularities.
That is 100% correct as most people do not play White Banner. Bah, most don't even play Yu-Jing ;) But in all seriousness: Monks are a great way to fill the slots if you go with expensive units. You can drop 4 guys for a total of 20 points and make enemy Alpha Strike a nightmare. Why wouldn't you? Assuming there's people who are ok playing 10 orders list, there's really no reason not to add a 23pts. group of 4 Smonks and 1 WarCor. Another thing: Why would you ever Liang Kai when you can 4 Monks Instead? :P Unless you're out of slots of course. I for one go 3-4 Monks in every WB list and play WB for funzies. Monks look awesome and are also a badass proxy material, but with no box of 4 it's kind of meh to have more than three miniatures (Liang Kais included).
