It's been ruled that in Capture and Protect, when a unit is carrying a beacon, the beacon marker remains on the table next to the unit. So an enemy unit can move into b2b with the beacon and, if still there at the end of the game, prevent the unit carrying the beacon from controlling it for scoring purposes. ( https://forum.corvusbelli.com/threads/frostbyte-base-to-base-with-beacons.25260/#post-158839 ). I think this follows, but I want to be sure: I go first and, on turn one, I capture my opponent's beacon and drag it back to my DZ. On turn three, my opponent can prevent me from scoring if they kill the unit holding the beacon - I won't get another turn to pick up the beacon with another unit. So what I'd like to do is end turn two with one unit carrying the beacon, and another unit or three also in b2b with it. I think that means that even if the carrying unit dies, I'll still be controlling the beacon. Opponent would have to kill everyone touching it to keep me from scoring. True/false?
CAPTURED ENEMY BEACON An Enemy Beacon is considered to be Captured by a player as long as that player is the only one with at least one troop (as a model, not a Marker) in base contact with it. Therefore, there cannot be an enemy in base contact with the Beacon. Troopers in a Null state (Unconscious, Dead, Sepsitorized…) cannot do either. - - - - - We do however have this sentence that is pretty odd and could cause some confusion. https://assets.infinitythegame.net/downloads/itsrules/season11/en/v1.0/season11.pdf "If the miniature carrying a Beacon enters a Null state, then the player must leave the Beacon Marker on the table with a Disconnected Marker beside it" However, This serves no purpose, I don't know how the Disconnected Marker is supposed to be affecting it. ALSO... https://assets.infinitythegame.net/downloads/itsrules/season11/es/v1.0/season11.pdf The spanish entry says... "El Marcador de Baliza (BEACON) debe dejarse en la mesa si la figura que lo lleva pasa a estado Nulo" Which translated to... "The Beacon Marker (BEACON) should be left on the table if the figure that takes it goes to Null state" It doesn't even have a mention of the Disconnecter Marker in spanish. - - - - - The scenario you describe is a valid strategy and works. The beacon rules in Capture In Protect allow you to simply be in base to base to have it considered captured. (Unlike the supplies box in Supplies, which can only be considered controlled when you hold them)
This actually works for any of the BtB objectives. I recently started to hold the Tech Coffin in the Acquisition with the whole Data Tracker Triad and it turned out to be a tremendously good strategy.
