Gecko goes down. Pilot kills the bastard that did it. Clockmaker Servant brings the TAG back without risking losing your specialist.
I think the TAG update really helped Geckos the most. They didn't move up together with their competition, they compare to HI. If they gave Taskmasters specialist on every profile, Fatality for not even the one point it should cost, and a weaker wound to fight while unconscious, people would lose their minds. That doesn't even include that Geckos got a seemingly free BTS boost and a SWC drop. The low SWC alone gives them a niche imo.
Judging from the comments, Gecko is; Meatshield with good armor, and angry Corregidor Pilot witin Good choice for Suppression Not a star; Bait Relatively stable CAMO dealer. Thx everyone, better tell those to Gecko Guy.
Defining a star as a unit that a large part of the list is built around enabling I don't think Corregidor really has those. Geckos don't even eat up SWC and pretty much defend themselves. The main thing they can be supported on is an Engineer and maybe a KHD Bandit. I usually try to have a Jaguar to get enemies off of CC but why would you not have a Jag anyways?
That guy in a Haris has been a real champ. Although it has a much lower chance of stopping a Dog between BS, range and damage than an Alguacil or REM flashpulse.
Yea man, one of the reasons the Gecko fit into my lists so well is that I was already taking all of the stuff that helps support it. Engineer with multiple bots, Morlocks for smoke, TR bot to help push the opponent into the Gecko. And at no SWC, it’s just a matter of finding the points.
Pardon a very late reply. Pretty much this. That's a good start. The way I see it is that a Gecko is what you get when you put all your points into defense. You have a weapon only slightly better than most HI carry (due to Fatality), but you have ARM5, BTS6 and 3STR (which is at least one more W/STR than a S5 HI like a Taskmaster or Kriza Boracs). Take 2 hits (odds are, an AP+EXP weapon will only do 2STR to you), move to cover and have the pilot bail out to do shenanigans while you send an engineer/helperbot to fix the Gecko. Geckos are taller than S5 HI, which actually makes them even more maneuverable due to the 'Parkour Rule' (you can move over any terrain shorter than your Silhouette at no cost in MOV). The tradeoff is that you are harder to hide, but no harder to hide than a Dogwarrior. Because you're already taking all the things you need to support a Gecko in your list, anyway. At least, I hope your friend is! Doctor, Engineer, regular Hacker (or EVO), Bandit/Jaguar (both?). Assault and Killer hacker optional. Geckos also have what we jokingly refer to as Holoprojector level:TAG. They draw far more firepower than they really deserve. Yes, they are hard to kill compared to a S5 Heavy Infantry. But they're slow and squishy compared to real TAGs. Someone sees a Gecko on the table and the reaction is ZOMG!!! Kill it!!!! and the Gecko proceeds to draw every big gun in the enemy's army. In the mean time, your models that you need to actually do something with to win the mission are free to do whatever. A Gecko is 50pts of "I'm going to make you work to kill this. And even if you do, I don't care because it was a distraction anyway."
